we only get the chance to make a few projects like this in our lives, a fact that is daunting in of itself, so most people never do anything like this. and the fact you share this project with everyone the way you do... its a blessing to everyone who ses this series
No, we should all be so inspired that we shall build projects of all kinds whenever we want. Do not be a clock watch worshiper, ignore time, it is not an actual thing.
Your audio when talking at the camera is spot on. Your audio when commenting off camera, the "voice over" needs to be twice as loud. When it cuts to commercial I have to lower the volume and then crank it back up every time.
As a TH-cam armchair maker who has never done anything on TH-cam (ha ha)... Easy Composites Ltd might suggest you might need a resin break near the vacuum ports to slow down the resin as it gets to them giving much more time for the resin to spread through the rest of the part. Also infusing across the short side as others have suggested. Possibly putting the spiral tube on the delivery side and quite a few vacuum ports on the other side that you can clamp off if the resin gets to them first. I really like watching people do fibreglass and carbon fibre for some reason and your show is top notch!
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like the videos. I'm pretty sure the next infusion (passenger seat) will be successful if I add a flow channel down the center to feed the area starved. Not only is the chopped carbon resistant to flow, but the greatest vacuum pressure is on that flat area.
When your resin stalls during infusions, dont panick. In your case, the resin was too low and your resin flow was battling gravity. Lift the resin bucket higher and resin will start flowing again. Also try to minimise distance between resin injection ports to around 500mm spacing. Lastly, if you have lockout or dry areas, use a large syringe with needle and inject resin into that area. Remember to block the puncture point with some tacky tape when pulling the needle out or you will end up drawing air into the infusion. P.S. always do a drop test before any infusion. Love your progress.
Glad to be seeing videos again! Truly a remarkable project that is being beautifully executed!! I especially love the rotisserie, genius and had to have saved you a fortune! Love the channel, love the content!!
@@BuilderCreator all good! You HAVE to have a ton going on its great things are (hopefully, lol) going smoothly and/or being managed with the glass half-full! :)
You are so awesome!!! You are totally what I want to be when I grow-up (I'm 42, lol) I love the way you think..... "Gotta add leather to the seats ....welp, I guess I better get a sewing machine for leather!" You are awesome!
Definitely underrated channel. I wonder why slideshow videos with silly music and another camaro restoration gain millions of views while this amazing project stays in the shadow.
How is this guy not like internet famous. There are people that are changing windshield wiper blades and bleeding the brakes and running a channel this guy is building a entire supercar from scratch........... more people should see this I know I'm watching every video!
@@BuilderCreator Hi Jarvie. Have a lot of fun as always watching your build. I have had so much fun, getting out and to car shows. Last month, interviewed Larry Hutchinson, the President of Toyota Canada. And had a WOW week end interviewing Simon Pagenaud, Scott Dixon, legend Al Unser Jr. and a number of other amazing people at the Toronto Honda Indy. But just this past week end at Shannonville Motorsport Park, interviewed Guys with vintage race cars from VARAC and the Sunday was a track day with Jspec. That was amazing to see all these tuner guys race their street cars on a track. Something inspiring you said that I'll never forget. Is to start doing it and don't wait. I'm learning all the time about how to build my car. Got some great idea's from Champion NASCAR Pinty series race car builder on adjustable roll centers. I'm applying that to my car. This is what happens when a kid gets a tool box instead of a video game for his 11'th birthday lol. Thank you as always for your posts. 😊
Thank you for your transparency with your work. Been a blessing. I learn telltale methods not taught in literature or other videos. Qualified by experience is becoming lacking to certified with little to no man hours..
Finally we are back to the sports car 😅 i like the other project as well and understand you enjoy it but in the end it is just nice to see something get finished.
Next time whenever you try to do an infusion project add some spiral cable pipe on the top of the mesh, right from the infusion pipe. That will help the resin to spread alit easier and therefore infuse the part perfectly and alot quicker without the risk for exothermic reaction
I wonder if you would have fed the resin from the top if it would have beat the pot time. But I guess that is why they invented injection moulding exactly for this reason. Thoughts?
Fantastic to see the process and options - thank you. Access seems really good as said. Don't quite see why chopped fibre was used for the seat, instaed of sheet.
I created two carbon pieces previously (the air intake box- forged, and the dash center console) the air intake just had more character and so I have opted to convert all interior trim to the forged look. It just reflects light better from multiple angles. Watch for future videos where i will be building a front splitter with a hybrid weave and forged look!
So I have found that fibertack my-1 will eliminate the bad surface finish so that you can spray directly onto the mold. I tried so many different products and techniques before I found the fibertack
Great video and thank you for sharing. One technicality though. This does not meet the definition of a supercar made in modern times. Never thought I would hear an Engineer talking so loosely with words.
Always infuse along the shortest path, in you case from one side of the mold to the other rather than from top to bottom. Even better, from a circumference feeder line to the vacuum at the center, that would divide the distance the resin has to travel by half. Did you use infusion spec. epoxy ?
True, the shortest distance is recommended, but a vacuum fitting in the center, on top of the laminate, will distort the fibers in that area. A flow channel medium will fix the problem and pull off with the peel ply, leaving a smooth surface front and back. Infusion epoxy- yes, but I should have cranked up the AC to stretch out my work time as well . . . "all the things we could have!" Ha! Next time!
Now I understand your disdain for my work- You are comparing lil-ol-me, to a multi billion dollar top 100 world wide OEM parts manufacturer with thousands of engineers at hand- hell yes, my work is shoddy in that comparison! Just give me a couple hundred million dollars and 35 years; my work might then meet your standards.
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!
I really enjoy the idea of electric cars (I own a plug in Hybrid), but when the military of the world convert to electric then I will know they are serious.
Electric cars still aren't there yet, I support the idea of using electric motors, but the batteries are killing them. And as long as we still use fossil power plants, we are just moving pollution elsewhere.
I have the remarkable ability to keep my hands clean. You will notice that in the video, when I had to pull off the vacuum bag, I don a pair of gloves. They are always close by and used when needed. But thanks for your concern.
Why do these people who make their own cars at home not make the job easy? Instead of making all that trouble with that seat I would have bought myself a gaming desk chair, those chairs are very similar to sports car seats, they come ready, they look the same as a sports car seat, and I assure you that it is much cheaper and takes less time than even making a chair at home, what does it matter if it is not an original original chair? a homemade car is not original from the factory either hehehe, so what would be the problem of working less and doing things more efficiently :D
How sad. All that money and all that work and still not complete. Will it ever be finished, will it ever run??? I am always amazed at the amount of time and money people spend on component cars only to find out that when they are finished the cars may not be all that great. I am duly impressed with this mans engineering prowess but come on already, please finish this project and let us see if all that time and effort was worth it.
Do you ever cover your leftover food with plastic wrap; day after day for years, always throwing it away? Think of all that plastic wrap wasted. Seats are a one time deal and last forever (Okay, maybe only 30 years, unless it retains some value.) for only 6 square feet of plastic wrap. ;)

Awesomely talented!! Coming together piece by carefully constructed piece. Good job you have a right to be proud
You can use modelling clay to mark the holes. Lay some on the floor. Drop the seat. It will mark the clay.
sure but might be problematic if the seat has space to move. you'll never drop it spot on first try

Yep! in fact the poly bag got close to melting. Thank goodness the car didn't suffer damage. Ha!
Awsome, what's running on the 3d printer?
I think it was a prototype test of the new door hinges.
How long has this car taken and how long is it going to be before it's finished? 10 years or something at this speed?
I say go with naturally aspirated rear wheel drive to keep it simple and drivable asap! :)

Prototype for a test fitting of the side skirt vortex generator. That and the front splitter coming up!
which seems the most complicated, making an adjustable steering Colum for a fixed seat or using an off the shelf seat runner ?
Well, if both are equal then the answer is to do the thing that will weigh the least amount. One steering column or two seat runners? :)
