Excellent presentation! Tons of practical, real-world examples and tips. Thank you guys! One thing that might be worth touching on is using ISOs lower than 100 instead of ND filters at times. Most cameras can go quite a bit lower.
As for me personally, I have FJ200 strobes and am just getting into using various modifiers with them for outdoor portraits (previously been using them indoors with umbrellas for portraits). I love B+H and Westcott for their amazing customer service!

I just stumbled onto this video but this is one of the best tutorials on using OCF I have seen. I just picked up some Profoto B10 Pluses and I am ready to really take my photography to the next level. I'll be trying all these suggestions. I really appreciate the time spent on color gels. I'll need to add some to my kit.

One of the best webinars I've seen about OCF! Eli is da man! Re: slow shutter speeds, I was under the impression that hand holding is safe. In a 1 second exposure, the flash will freeze the subject because the light is only hitting the model for milliseconds. Of course it wouldn't freeze a golfer in mid-swing but a model shouldn't be a problem. Am I wrong in my understanding?

I've been a professional photographer for over 30 years, and I just happened to be looking through TH-cam and saw this video. This is an excellent video that explains not only off camera flash but how to use both TTL and manual exposure with off camera flash. I get asked that question all the time. Most people think if you use TTL you have to use exposure priority rather than manual. And you can, but manual is also an option. I realize this is an older video, but lighting is lighting. Great job.

this was an excellent presentation, thanks so much Eli !! wonderful easy to understand & pace was great too.... your images are beautiful! QUESTION: what was the name of the baby mini boom arm that you use to get your modifier pushed away from the light stand so you can better angle your light ? who makes it? sorry I tried going back through the video to find that one little bit of information and I just couldn't seem to locate it……… thank you

This is a very helpful and comprehensive coverage of using off-camera flash. I have a two-light setup, an FJ80ii and an FJ200 along with the newer FJ-X3. The thing I noticed here (starting at ~ 28:45) is that the sync symbol in the upper right shows rear-curtain flash. Is this normal when two more strobes are setup on the remote? When I noticed this on my remote, I tried to set it back to front-curtain sync and it just reverts back to rear-curtain sync. Looking to understand why this happens. - Thanks.

Use a 18% gray card and set custom white balance in camera or during post processing.

I think for education purposes when showing lighting setups, the image shown should always be the un-edited version followed with the edited version. Editing has the ability to re-light photos in too many ways and makes it hard to see the 1 for 1 effects of lighting choices. I get the artist wanting to show off his finished work, but it can be misleading when compared to raw results. Instead you're just showing the potential the artist was able to pull from each setup not what the setup produced. That being said, this is a wonderful in depth educational video.
