Already had my T-Rex cooler zip tied to my beloved R9 270 It was my first ever GPU, it died from BGA solder cracking from phase cooling on my daily system at a crisp -60c watching TH-cam, gaming, and doing homework in college. Currently working again, so perfect time to send it to Valhalla in a proper Viking or warriors style death in a blaze of glory and flames! I’ll Epower it if I need more oomph (Epower V), but I kinda want to see where it gets in it’s own, but I’ll Epower it because I really want to know where it rips out and goes “poof” and ends up back on my wall with a slightly higher score on its sticky note.... Keep up the mods Buildzoid! Always entertaining!
I will admit, if the other comp wasn't in use with 3D stuff, I would be tempted to cap-mod the motherboard now. 3.8GHz with 3200 memory at the same time, would be sweet for that box in 3delight. It's happy at 3.4 with 3200 memory, so it has just been left as is. Great stuff BZ. B)

Got an MSI R9 390X Gaming 8G which needs a fan replacement but i've had a lot of issues with MSI due to the fact that for some reason my serial number won't come up and I bought it direct from Scan in the UK so it's a legit card and not a knockoff if there even are knockoffs out there. As i'm getting sick to death chasing a fix it's available to be acquired by anybody who can sort it.The fan wobbles on the spindle and catches off the case preventing full operation. If you know the fix hit me up and we can swap emails to speak further. UK based so bear in mind any transportation costs.

I have r9 270 that work- have power in GPU and ventilators .., but when I connect 12v rail automatically shot down the whole pc .. like it is shortened, that 12-volt rail .. so where to look for possible shortening. my question is - would it be possible to desolder the memory chips ( with the right equipment ) and then solder solder some new on with double the capacity - if yes, which chips would work ? i have one of these cards and it works fine for my use with the exception of the 2gb VRAM and i would love to upgrade it to 4gb. There are cards out there with 4gb vram as the only different btw. so: is it possible? What chips to get that would work? Where to find them online?
kinda late but, yes its possible as long as there is a version of that gpu with more memory and you have acess to a bios from that board, you may get the memory chips from a non functional (dead) card with the same or close specs (same memory manufactor). Hello, I am having problems while installing R9 270X drivers, i get a black screen every time i try, Have you ever had this problem before? i have tried flicking the bios switch, i tried it in an other pc and still a black screen. do you know what it could be ?
So im wondering how come on alot of PCBs theres spots for where capacitors look like they should be but they choose not to populate that area,how come?obviously the card dont need those but why add them to the design of the PCB in the first place and would adding in those capacitors actually make any diffrence?
i know this is old but i have a r9 270x that has one memory failing, i was going to change it but the heatsink on the top memories (this one has a heatsink there, its sapphire dual x) was too hard and had to use a screwdriver to get it off, and even i did tape the screwdriver the board got scratched between memories and the copper is exposed, i want to know the resistances in the vrm for the memories on the r9 270x to test if mine it's still alive, sorry for much text, i'm too afraid of putting it on my pc and potentially frying all my pc
Hey My first card wow. I put it in an I buy power "Gaming" prebuilt with an FX CPU. Spent a year trying to figure out why it was slower than my Dell xps system which I later found out was running SLI lol.

I'm UK based so take transportation costs into account but otherwise i'm getting sick of the sight of it unless you feel generous. I'll drop some email details if needed.

depends on the card. I've had Nvidia cards pick up hunderds of MHz on mem clock from the extra caps.
