    Thanks for this video, Alisa. What a great idea to have the swatches organised like that so we know which fabric is suitable for which project. I appreciate the time you put into your research, then you share it with us, and I am so grateful for that. It saves us a lot of time. 👗👚🎽✂️🎀🧥🧵Love from Australia

    Fabrics have always been something that is intimidating to me. Thank you so very much for this good idea as a starting point to help me. I love the idea of the sketch book and will be ordering some swatches.

      Jane, ordering swatches helps SO much! I very much like to feel my fabric when I buy it, but when you do it online - it s hard to do, so swatches help a lot in order to get close to what you need/want!

    Dear Alisa. I hope this is the correct spelling of your name! I subscribed to your channel and have been watching your amazing and informative videos for quite some time. Now I am a brand new member and I have just finished drawing your bodice block to make the long sleeved t shirt with set in sleeves. I have never drafted my own patterns before as thought I would not be able to master it; hence mine have always been store or op shop purchased, with lots of alterations to make them fit my petite figure. Thank you so much for inspiring so many sewers with your lovely teaching style and warm personality. Now I have to do a massive video catch-up!
    Warm wishes from South Australia. 🐾🌸

    I love this video. Very informative as always.
    I prefer knit fabrics for my sewing (matter of sensory issues as some woven do not feel nice against my skin).
    I love viscose (both as a jeresy knit and as woven lightweight fabric).

    I'm finding fabric choices to be quite frustrating. Needing to make a T-Shirt but no one sells it. Jo-Ann's and Amazon doesn't have it. Got any suggestions as to where to look? I'm looking for a 50% stretch 4 ways.

    Hi Alisa, I have fabric that has one way stretch, not along the selvage, but vertical, can I use that and cut it out folding on the vertical instead of selvage to selvage. If not, what on earth can you make with a one way stretch, I have been looking at patterns and can't seem to find any. Are any of your drafts for one way stretch? A lot of questions, I know but I'm kinda desperate as I really wanted to make a cardigan out of this one way fabric but it calls for stretch and am not sure if vertical would be ok. Thanks!!!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Debbie! If I were you - I would do exactly that - fold it and cut it vertical so that the direction of the stretch is horizontal, side to side, on your garments. You can make many garments with one way stretch that runs horizontal, examples from my tutorials are: Breton top, bow cardigan, wrap cardigan, bishop sleeve top and many others. Bit those would not be suitable for vertical stretch, so when you cut - make sure that you cut that way so that the direction do the stretch runs horizontal, or as shown on a pattern. Also, each Instruction Sheet says what fabric you need on the first page, that should also help. And you are right - usually the stretch is horizontal and not vertical when it comes to one way stretch, but there are some odd things like that in the world :)
