    Love the video and the result!!!!!
    I’m going to try this too - this would be a p e r f e c t quarantine project, too bad we didn’t try it then but ah well!!!!
    (Also love your classic coffee drinking in between, and laughed (and watched 4 times over again) on the fan and you “fanning” the steamer 😹!)

      Ahah thanks! yes I think it was, but pretty much worth it. I only realize after beginning how time consuming the whole videos are: project + filming + editing = long days but most good thing cost effort right. Thank you for watching! subscribed to your craft channel :)

    I have been LOOKING all over for this. Thank you! You have nailed the look!
    I love this technique as it reminds me of the dexter wong shirt created for MJ's scream video. And as of recently, chet lo's work too
    I have a couple of questions :
    [1] How can I create more evenly spaced, bigger, defined/protruding spikes?
    [2] If I were to do this on a shirt or sweater, what material would you recommend?
    [3] Will the spikes be long lasting or will they lose shape/deflate over time?
    [a] If so, how can we ensure it holds its shape for a long time?

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec
      @PeerCoxFashionRec  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya thanks for commenting! No idea MJ wore a shirt like that.. how cool! I know there is a london (?)designer now that does a lot of spiky stuff like that, I forgot the name though. It is hard to know for sure how they get the spikes that pronounced as I have not done a lot of experimenting with this as it is really time consuming, I think for a more spiky effect you would need like a super light weight thin polyester fabric, i don't think it will work with a normal sweater or normal tshirt jersey at all. I would say you need to do a test first to see the end result before you spend many hours, as the result can be a little unpredictable. Also another problem you might run into is poking holes with the screws, so you might consider another unsharp object instead. I did the popcorn shirt too in another video where I wrapped in buttons, they where pretty defined and the fabric was a bit thinner, but I would go even thinner for the spikes, may be also boil it a bit longer than 20 minutes... after washing it cold temperature it should look more or less the same (mine do9 , to be sure you could hand wash it cold and not wring it out but let it dry flat on a towel for example.

    Happy that I found your videos in TH-cam. Love your work! I love to do fabric manipulation as well! thank you for sharing! for my opinion: the Natural materials (like cotton, silk) that I tried, the result was not obvious. Using synthetic fabric will be better.

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec

      Thank you! It is really fun effect, I am making the shirt now. I think polyester is indeed the safest choice to do this, after so much effort is has to be worth it!

    Super Cool , very nice result. Did you wash them already ? And if so o the wrinkles stay ?

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec
      @PeerCoxFashionRec  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! So this one I did not wash but the failed shirt with red stains I put in a handwash with vanish oxi action for at least a couple of hours and hang it out to dry, the effect stayed! Maybe a tiny bit less pronounced, but as long as you do not use any heat and pressure and the fabric is 100 % polyester it should be permanent.

    hello! was the heat hot enough to keep the texture of the pants for a very long time if not forever? if the material itself melted enough into the texture of the screws.

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec
      @PeerCoxFashionRec  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! So i was super careful to only hand wash it with cold or lukewarm water. I just let it soak for 2 hours and than lightly press the water out and let it hang to dry above the bucket so that it can catch up the water. This is more work than your normal wash but it will keep the textures almost completely in there. I would avoid twisting the fabric and using hot water at all times!

    Hi thanks for this!! You might’ve mentioned already but what fabric are your pants exactly? Synthetic but polyester, nylon or both? Hopefully I buy the right garment for this project

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec
      @PeerCoxFashionRec  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello thanks for watching, so this pants was 55% polyester and 45% nylon. As long as it is a fabric that melts when it gets hot it should be working, but sticking to polyester will be a safe choice.

    How can this be shibori when there was no dye?

    • @PeerCoxFashionRec
      @PeerCoxFashionRec  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for asking, the shaping of fabric is also referred to as 3d shibori, it is almost the same technique only you use heat to create textures instead of dye.
