I've become so obsessed with only capturing since Rise that I always make the Bone set or its Capture Guru equivalent as early as possible. It was unfortunate that that means Big Fins in MH3U; might technically be better to make Perception Jewels. I love going back to the older games and just retracing all of the _game knowledge_ of the generation. "Always do this to get X early, or for easy Y." "This Weapon is the perfect gateway to X materials," etc. From before the days of FextraLife and Kiranico, when we had to learn it ourselves and make our own conclusions about how to do things.
I used to use the perception decos. I might have to do that for a bit until my internal capture guru gets re-synced to the older game. Once that kicks in, I am able to capture before the dot even blinks. And yeah, a ton of knowledge-stalgia happening here for sure.
One thing you could do when Wilds comes out, do vids like this of your hunts uncut, I think it'll help in your cause against speed running and meta gaming in MH. Maybe it's different now but back when Rise first came out, I really couldn't find anyone posting vids of full hunts and the only vids I could find were all speed runners (which really, really gives the impression to new comers to MH, like I was then, that speed running is the only way to play MH). There were also some heavily edited vids of hunts, for comedy or for showing a specific move or tactic etc But hardly any showing a full hunt, so what they do from the time they spawn in until the monster is defeated. It was really, really discouraging struggling as much as I was and then to see nothing but speed runners doing hunts and then comparing their play to my own. I didn't even know it was normal to let the monster flee from one spot to the next, I thought letting a monster change zones meant I was doing really badly. I did eventually find a couple TH-camrs that posted full hunts, Uno Hunter and DearGamer and watching these guys let me realize that no I wasn't doing too badly and that speed running wasn't the normal way to play. Having more TH-camrs showing what a normal hunt looks like could be very helpful for newcomers (I have a feeling there will be a lot with Wilds, I think it's going to have Elden Ring levels of success).
People is spoiling all the content of the trailer everywhere, but I don't want to know it yet, I want to play and discover it for myself. It suck because the only solution I can think is stop following anyone that spoils stuff. Any suggestions?
@@iixxion the weapon trailers I had already seen, don't worry. And as long as you make a disclaimer aka spoiler alert is fine. I appreciate you being considerate and listening to your community

Awesome suggestion! I will do this!
Best music and sound effects in the series to this day
And this is why I rush capture guru. Haven't slain a capture mission since I first started playing the game.
KOs are much more satisfying in old school.
Bruh
