Such a nice overview. I also really loved the little historical segway with clips from past games. Are you going to make videos like these for other weapons?
I'm predicting one of the bowguns is going to be the 'go-to pocket' weapon to pair with any weapon in the game. It's simple logic: The bowguns have extremely powerful ammunition but with correspondingly very limited ammo, so the weapons has significantly diminished DPS over the course of a hunt. So if you 'blow your load' with the strongest ammo you have, then switch to your 'main' weapon, then you will get around the main weakness of bowgun dps. I don't see how even the HH will surpass it simply because that horn buff may last a whole minute, but you're going to lose several second switching your weapon once you buff up, and then several more seconds getting into position to attack with your main weapon after that. So you might get ~30 seconds of buffed attacks which is hardly anything in a 10 or even a 5 minute hunt. But blowing through all your bowgun wyvern shots and other powerful ammo may take 30+% off the monster's HP within a couple minutes.
Definitely! And being able to start out the hunt with a bunch of long range ammo, especially when they introduce more specialized bullets, is gonna be awesome!
Changing the aiming from holding the left trigger to a single press toggle that you can activate and forget is life changing. Also switching the right trigger to shoot with the right bumper feels more precise, at least with an Xbox controller since it has analog triggers.
All I want to know is do we still have a craft bowgun ammo. Or do we get infinite amount types like the Coatings for the bow and arrow and your Special ammo types are based on the gun you use. Like some guns have peirce, or spread, or maybe cluster etc. But like bow do we fill a gauge then we can use that ammo type
@@iixxion pretty much in a previous video I saw from another content creator. You have infinite coatings, but can only fire 8 shots then reapply. Then rinse and repeat forever... I find it highly unlikely that we're going to get infinite cluster ammo all we have to do is reload.... or infinite piercing rounds etc... but with bows never having to make Coatings again. I'm just hoping they did something similar or a fun mechanic to make bowguns more cost-effective
Which will be nice, just the making ammo part i want gone lol. More inv space on hunts and more Zeny for upgrading weponds/armors. Oh and confirm wyvern snipe, every video only shows the machine gun mode
Point, shoot and DO NOT get hit. Love the roll. Also pray you don't get a Barroth in a tight space. That's a cart trip. It does get monotonous so I'd mix it up with other weapons as a break.
well, a lot of people do for sure. But it's all speculation at this point. And a lot of people who haven't even touched bowgun need a starting point. This video will help them get familiar with the concept of bowgun, so that it's not so overwhelming at the start of Wilds.
Really great video. I think for me, the thing that really got cemented in my head (and this is kinda true more for MH in general and not just bowgun, but it's VERY apparent for me on bowgun and helped me learn the weapon a lot) is: playing bowgun is more like playing a turn based game than an action game. You take a turn, the monster takes a turn; You take a turn, the monster takes a turn. Your turn might be cranking out 5 or 6 rapid-shots on an LBG, or 1 or 2 well placed Charged Shots on an HBG, but it's still "one turn." Then the monster responds with it's "turn", and you take your defensive measures as appropriate. But the only time you should realistically be getting hit (aside from the occasional jank hitbox that goes through my HBG shield) is when you get greedy. When you've locked yourself in an animation that you can't get out of in time. When you've tried to "take your turn" when it's "the monster's turn." Really liking the new editing style. Like the thumbnail too. Keep up the great videos!
I agree with you. This is even more apparent if you play bowgun on past gens. The monsters have very clear tells, they turn only gradual and so on, it's much like they are taking turns, in fact.
The bowgun has gone through several changes, and definitely more than most weapon. Some ammo have changed functions, tri use to have a different craft system, and even attachments have changed. HBG had seen crouch stance come, go, and comeback. World added special ammo, and raise added charge shots. Walk and shoot, walk and load, auto load, all new additions that charge how to use the weapon effectively. Still a good video
Definitely lots of changes, but the fundamental "loop" is the same as it always has been. And playing like you did 15 years ago is still EXTREMELY effective for bowgun, whereas trying to play LS, for example, like you did 15 years ago will barely get you out of low rank quests.
I'm confused if you're against meta play and sets then why are you telling us how the game should be played? you just said in a previous video you wanted to be a speedrunner and would make randoms play to their best abilities by telling them what to do. which is weird because how would you know that through a first hunt with them? so im so confused. because to me it seems like you're forcing a meta style of play. i want to think for myself like you say but i always want to follow what you say. you're words, "i speak the truth". i also heard that this all started because TDS ignored all the messages you kept sending them. i have a feeling this is true. so if it isn't, its your responsibility to prove it. man I've learned a lot from you. it feels good to make claims and force others to disprove its validity.
"Normal Ammo 1: Not even once.™" Literally faster to walk away, find materials, and Combine more Ammo; one of the biggest buffs in the entire franchise-no more scrounging for a few Huskberries and Latchberries, only to make Garbage. Bowgun is about finding your power, and then firing as much as your power as you can in a short amount of time. Special Ammo is very, very, very important if you're only using one or two Ammo types (which is most Bowguns, for most of the game). Using it early and often as it regenerates (Focus OP) is part of the not-so-important "skill ceiling." Nao u r lrnd gud, gud jawb, Soljur. 🫡

I'm thinking about it!
Wild that people are releasing 1hr guides of a game thats not even out yet.
I mean get your bag but thats just dumb.

I think some of the trick arrows work by filling a gauge.

Apparently they are giving you a rapid-fire meter that you can charge up and then shoot whatever ammo in that mode.

pretty sure at this point everyone wants all of the spoilers for game mechanics lol

ah, I see you're still mad you got muted for an hour for trolling on my discord server.
My friend, you definitely sound many things, and confused is one of them.
