I just bought the plug and play model with Anderson plugs. I had it in my 1990 pajero in....45 mins 😳 I'm the least electrical guy I know. The most challenging part of this install for anyone would be finding and feeding the firewall penetration. I got super lucky and found one that gave me no trouble. Straight through. FWIW I did not lift the door sill trim to feed wire to back of the wagon. Mine entered the car near front door passenger RHS foot so I ran under console, between seats ( above carpet) and then under rear floor mats and the rear seat to cargo bay. Easy AF. These kits are just bloody amazing.👍👍

Didnt have enough $$$ to get the DCDC charger so Installed the mini VSR to get me to the Cape and back. Happy to say battery was fully charged at the end of every days drive. I know the DCDC will get you that little bit more charge in, but for a budget setup this is perfect.
This is fine for high resistance flooded lead acid secondary battery. However, if you have a high-amp hour lithium ion or LiFePO 4 battery, they have low internal resistance and you can give your alternator a hernia if your high-amp hour lithium battery is quite low. The DC-DC charger prevents your alternator from getting damaged, by significantly reducing the load on it. Typically you have about 12-20 amps overhead from an average alternator; and it is best to draw from within this overhead range.
G'day mate exact same principle as a car to set up,just grab one of our plug & play wiring harness's to suit the vsr your using & connect positive & ngative up - we have done all the hard work for you Thanks for watching Cheers Craig
Would the 140a vsr be advisable to install on my rear anderson plug wiring for the camper battery charging? I'm going to install the kickass dcdc charger running the kickass 75L fridge and battery in the car also...
G'day there, yes you could use it for your camper, but i would prefer a dcdc to completely charge & maintain better than just a vsr thanks for watching Cheers Craig
Looking at the plug and play one to use with my powerstation. The powerstation has a built in charger so just purely want a anderson plug in the back thats isolated so am I right in assuming the dual sensing isolater will work or do I need to do a hard wired in isolater with the vehicle being later model smart alternator?
G'day Andy, later model vehicles do benefit from using our DCDC charger as it does boost the charge on modern alternators/smart charging systems,& also has a vsr inbuilt into the unit as well, but the quick connection vsr will work fine as long as your alternator can charge the unit & it also has a blue ignition wire that you can connect to a 12v power source that is on only when the engine is on so we got you covered on what set up you would like Thanks for watching the video Cheers Craig
Can I mount a VSR with a DCDC charger to get the override function or does your DCDC charger have this kind of function to link the 2 batteries together for a quick jumpstart? Thanks!
G'day there, unfortunatly you cant run a vsr into our dcdc as it also has an inbuilt vsr in the unit itself so all you really need is the dcdc as it has so many benifits over a atandar vsr Thanks for watching Cheers Craig
G'day Egor, definatly under the bonnet is great, mount as high as possible & away from any excessive heat EG: away from exhaust or radiator etc Thanks for watching the video Cheers Craig
Just trying to understand... are these a budget replacement for a DC-DC system, e.g. your battery box SKU: KAJBAGMKIT4; or is the intention to use both these VSRs and the DC-DC ?
VSR's are a budget solution for older vehicles built pre 2000. Depending on you alternators out put voltage you may be able to use a VSR. You need a constant voltage of 14.4 - 14.7 Volts from you alternator to charge a secondary AGM. If your vehicle outputs this voltage then you can use a VSR. Modern vehicles with smart alternators witch drop the output voltage once the starter battery has charged there for do not output the required voltage to charge an Auxiliary battery. This is where you use a DCDC charger as it will boost the voltage. So depending on your vehicle you will require one or the other. Our DCDC charge does also have the benefit of MPPT solar regulation and, different charge profiles for different battery types and accurate battery monitoring so as not to over charge your Axillary battery. Hope this helps.
G'day ozzyrick, yes our dcdc has a built in vsr so not only is it a dcdc charger but also a vsr & solar reg all built in,here is a link for you www.kickassproducts.com.au/?query=dcdc Cheers Craig
If you are using lithium storage you should use a DCDC charger to ensure that the charge profile is correct. VSR's have no kind of regulation and just charge your battery at what ever voltage and current your alternator puts out.
@@KickAssProducts just for reference so if i had a 200ah lithium slim battery that went beheind the backseat what would the setup include is it just plug and play or is it hard wired in? So what dcdc charger would be needed to get the most out of the battery? And also if the battery says only 100ah discharge does that mean if its a 200ah lithium it can only use 100ah of that 200 before it cuts off sorry just trying to find out more info.
G'day there if you haed over to the website & search the product you have we have all the instructions on line for you Thanks for watching Cheers Craig
Great video guys.👍👍👍👍

Thanks Cassius, just remember when using a VSR it is always a good idea to give your battery a top up with a good multistage AC charger between trips.

@KickAssProducts maybe fix it? Even just the qr code..can't be that hard can it?
Be good if they came with an LED indicator light instead of having to add it in but still seems like a good product.
We have a new product coming to market that is a game changer.
very average bit of kit failed on me within 6months
Sorry to hear that. Have you contacted our Customer Support Team. All of our VSR's are covered by a warranty.
