This is a trick I learned when I was 14. I did it with bicycle locks and changed the order or the numbers. I got so good I could open a 4 number combo in less than 10 seconds. Works on briefcases and gun locks too. I never recommended this style lock when I was working as a salesman for this very reason.
Yeah i learned it on bikes too, and was stupid enough to forget i told my ex about it. Buy the same lock for my door, of course she opened it...

For those that say this teaches thieves how to steal really need to think about what they are saying. A small set of bolt cutters would cut that right of in a second or a pipe wrench could twist it off. A thief isnt gonna sit their and try to figure out a combination unless he wants to put the lock back on something.

I opened a 4 digit lock in 2 years. Here’s how:
1. Set to 0000
2. Keep going by 1
3. Repeat
Example: 0000, 0001, 0002, etc
The code for the lock was 9735
You are very slow ! If you make a try in one seconde, it should take less than 3 hours.

Thank you SO much! My macaw is very smart and can open most normal cages, so we put a lock a lot like this one on it. We just boarded her since we went on a vacation and they let her play with the lock! She ended up changing the code and we didn’t know that when we put the lock on her travel cage to go home. This helped me get the lock off!

Believe it or not, when I was around 7, my cousin has a lock like this in their room, she wanted to show me her new shoes, which is inside her wardrobe, so we don't know where her parents kept the keys(her parents aren't home) so I started to try different numbers, after about half an hour I finally get to unlock it. That was one of my bestest moments😀😎

Accidently locked up a cupboard at work with a code lock. Said my coworkers I did an opsie but that I can fix it. Watched this video and boom! Lock open in literally under 30 seconds. Thanks for your video man, was a life saver!
I do not know how I did but this video was a great help. I locked my 4 wheel combo lock without noting the 4 digits like an idiot with no sense. I came across the video and twiddled about with the combinations pretending like I can feel the lock reacting to the turns. Something happened and now I got it open. Many thanks.

Wow, its not just padlocks. I locked and accidentally forgot the combination to a bike lock last winter while it was out of use, I had pretty much given up on using it until coming across this video. Thank you very much!

@@Cristopher.C thiefs often follow some very fundamental laws of nature, for example the path of least resistance. Often they'll just go for the easiest target, at least if there's not some bike (or something else) that sticks out because it's value. So they'll just look for an unlocked or badly locked bike, which is why it helps to have any kind of lock on it, the chances drop they'll try to steal yours as a first choice.

@@Cristopher.C , thats a very valid point. My response is: I live in a very secure low crime area, the sight of the lock is more of a psychological deterrent. My bike is inexpensive too, so it does the job well enough :)

Absolute life saver, on holiday and my suitcase lock managed to get changed somehow on the journey, this helped me unlock it, thumbs up !

Our school implemented lockers this year with 4 digit code. I already know 4 locker combinations when observing the students unlocking it, and now i'll be able to unlock even more of them. Thank you for the video and thank you TH-cam for reccomending me this.

My family did an escape room and I picked a 5 letter combo lock and they had to pause our timer, come in, tell us I had undone the last clue, and offered us a new room. 😂

I also unlocked a 5 digit combination lock in an escape room on a fridge freezer door - at the time everyone was frantically looking around for the next clue. When I opened the fridge door everyone looked around in amazement 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah some escape rooms puzzles are so convoluted that, sometimes you think that sloppy bits are part of the puzzle, like that. One time, we were chained up, and the staff couldn't tie someone up for shit, and we kinda thought that was part of the puzzle. They had to come back in and tell us to go back and finish the puzzle as intended...

Bought a bar set box with number lock on it. I opened to check if content was OK. Closed it and couldn't open it again... This trick helped me to reopen the box. (I never was a fan of number locks, now I know how easy it is to open, I really need to change my daughter's bicycle lock 😉

Just used this to open a MASTER LOCK Lock Reset Combination style lock. It was a bit tricky as the u-bolt was arranged differently and had to be pulled on from an awkward direction.

Except that being able to use the lock isn't really of any benefit if everyone is taught how to defeat it; this is a tutorial for thieves disguised as public service.
People stealing bikes and stuff already know these tricks.
Whether it's a "PSA" or not, it renders the locks practically unusable because it teaches people how to defeat them. Who needs "hidden platforms" when would-be petty thieves can just learn it on TH-cam while people spout nonsense that it's all in the name of education or to help people who "forgot" their combination?
I'm sure that a lot of people who are ABOUT to steal bikes and stuff learn it right here on TH-cam.

Combination locks are slightly easier to open than most keyed locks to anyone with a little training. They just need less training and tools.
Locks keep honest people honest and discourage lazy dishonest people. The value of what is being protected should justify the value and quality of the lock being used and help reduce the number of people able to get around it.
John Fox I've been picking locks with homemade tools for three weeks and can pick pretty much any lock that anyone would buy at a department store. I did a lock with five spool pins today in minutes, although my old American with serrated pins took me longer. I tried that one way too early though so that may be why.

When I was a kid in the early 70s a lot of bike chains used to have combination locks. We would go to the school bike shed and swap several locks rounds, those that were the same colour and make were obviously the best. We couldn’t do it on a regular basis or we would have drawn the attention of teachers, and the bike shed was outside the headmaster's office. If you read this children please don’t copy as it wasn’t clever and wasn’t funny (actually it was very funny to a bunch of 14 year olds, but we didn’t have much to entertain us in those days)
