Thank you for the video I had to use your method of disassembly, my ole Polaris shifter stuck and was a mess. lots of rust and water. after watching your video i was able to correct my shifter thanks
Love the video buddy. Love how it’s non-edited . Love to see it’s not only me with things flying all over and losing parts to what I call The Land Of Make-believe.
I had gone through the same problem with my 94 Polaris like yours I found out it was all rusty inside the shifter box I had to clean it out and added gear oil in it and did what I can Make sure all the springs and ball bearings was all moving
hey, nice repair job on the shifter, i was wondering what's in the plastic cup to harden the pins, my shifter is acting up now from plowing snow, i just might need to do a tear down soon
I'd say it was 3/16 or a 1/4 inch or so. You will know because you will feel the difference between the aluminum and the hardened steel pin. But this was a few years ago now so my memory is a bit faded. Good luck.

Just keeping it real. Thanks for watching.
Service manual calls for 0W-40 to cover half of the pins - not stuffing all that grease in it.
Make sure you replace the o-rings on the actuator shafts or it will leak out.
@@MrFixit1 I did my O-rings and filled it to spec with oil and it still leaks, it might be getting grease down the line as well.

Good job, not looking forward to taking mine apart, doesn't shift until exhaust, beside the shifter, warms it up in colder weather, Ontario, Canada
Too cold for me Friend! Haha

Used engine oil. Thanks for watching.
4:30 how far did you need to drill? i already made a good little hole. but when i use my punch to punch out the little thing, its not working.

@@MrFixit1 yeah its not coming out man.
Ive got a sloppy shifter, on my recently acquired , 99 sportsman 500, easy fix, rebuild or replace ?
Not a lot you can do to fix it. Best to replace it. The pin that runs through the ball on the lever may be broken or loose. I would check that.
Would a 1993 trans be different ?? Looks the very same as yours ,,
Should be the same Mine is an EZ shift type 3
I had to weld a bot onto mine so i can break the years of rust. posting a video soon .
Mr fix it, how in the hell did you get the 2 linkage rods off the shifter?? Thanks!
They were held in by a bolt and nut. 7/16 I believe.
Imagine that. Working on polaris about like owning a harley
ha ha Polaris is the Harley of the ATV world for sure.
Maybe put a grease nipple in the taped hole
the threaded hole is blocked by the pin.
