Most people forget that while celebrating separation of African communities.. Europe is striving to unite and overcome the differences and ethnic tensions that have plagued them for centuries… supporting one group over other and supplying them weapons and ammunition; the one who shoots the gun and the one who supplies the guns in one in destroying African communities

    • @awabelmahe9700

EU has a single religion that unifies them. 97% of languages in Europe belong to a single family (the Indo-European family), and they have a very long shared history between them. You don't have any of that in Africa so you cannot mimick the European experience. Asia would be a more appropriate model for Africans to learn from.

My Uber driver from ORD moved here with his wife from South Sudan’s land prior to independence. His life experiences and road to independence involved years of sacrifice and family /community unity. This man worked hard for his family there and works just as hard for his wife and sons here - a humble man. I knew nothing of their struggles and wanted to see their history. As Americans we are ignorant of our freedoms as we live with comforts and privileges. God bless America 🇺🇸 and God help us to appreciate what is good and right. We need to be a place a natural goodness, honesty and family loyalty. Like many people I’ve met in poverty-stricken lands, humble demeanor and manners precedes your name. Sometimes, that’s all someone has.

One issue I don’t think is talked about is most peace deals are targeted at the national level conflict, while local level violence is ignored. Over and over, local conflict has not stopped after a new peace deal is signed. Until the local drivers of conflict are resolved it will be very difficult to fully freeze the conflict for any substantively period of time

Sudan as it has existed has been a colonial creation, the north and the south had nothing to do with each other before colonialism. It was Muhammed Ali Pasha's colonialism that created Sudan and joined the north and the south into one country. The north and the south have nothing in common between them, they don't share culture, religion, enthicity or antyhing at all. Forcing them together in one country was a grave mistake from the start. Separation was the best solution for both nations. It's unfortunate that it took 50+ years for this to happen, lots of lives could have been saved has this fact been realized earlier. Much of the fault lies with us in the north for not understanding this and giving the south its independence. We should have done this in 1955 after The Torit events.

Independence didn't help majority of African countries. We were arbitrarily grouped together then expected to throve even though we'd been fighting for millenia.
Tbh the best solution would have been a gradual weaning of colonial rule without theft of land & Killing camps from Europeans. The reason would be to adapt to the new world.
Not that we're dumb, but it was extremely different from anything anyone had ever seen...and diametrically opposed to how most Africans think. Contrary to popular belief many of us don't even have collectivist culture so it's even harder to grow together (as East Asia did). We can work but every ethnicity wants to work for THEMSELVES.

The United States is the number one weapons seller in the world, while the tiny country of Israel is #10 in weapons sales. Isreal has negatively affected the Sudan and South Sudan. Look up the 2 articles "US sanctions ex-Israeli general for $150 million in arms sales to South Sudan" and "US lifts sanctions on ex-IDF general accused of arms sales to South Sudan" which appear on "The Times of Israel" website. Isreal sells weapons to both sides of conflict in South Sudan, but denies it and claims it was helping the country with its agriculture. I could not find any articles about how Isreal has actually helped South Sudan with agriculture.

The ignorance is real. Why are you explaining the dangers of landmines to African kids in english??? This should be explained thoroughly in a local language.

Sudan and South Sudan were never one country. It's just the British demarcation that put them together

Well for south Sudanese it’s either become poor as an independent country or homeless and oppressed in Sudan. The south was already neglected by the Sudanese government it’s clear they made a better decision.
