Bit of context. The 2 brothers moved out and come home every Friday night for dinner. The neighbour is Jim with the dog he’s scared of, keeps coming round and fancies Jackie.
Don't believe Monty was, believe Monty's post was more aimed at King & Queen Boomer, rather than comments in general, just to let them know the characters, relationships, as in the video they wasn't to sure.
I AM SO HAPPY. This is the PERFECT series for you two. You both love facial expressions and understand sarcasm so you will love the interactions between Adam/Johnny and Martin. This is going to be brilliant
Damn.. so glad you two have finally got round to this, absolute stormer of a show, the character that plays Johnny (Tom Rosenthal, who incidentally is Jim Rosenthal's son) was his first real acting roll. All the characters were based on real people. Every episode is like this and is mostly just chaos LoL RIP Paul Ritter (Martin)
Absolutely brilliant series. The chap with his dog 'Wilson' has me in fits. He plays a hilarious chatacter in another comedy series called Green wing which is worth a watch too.
I feel like Mark Heap (Jim) was still finding how to play the character in series 1 but he really nails it later on. He's still hilarious in this series but he just gets so much better later on
Adam and Johnny - both adults, done with university, working and left home a while ago but see their parents every Friday for their Friday night dinner. Jackie and Martin - their married biological parents. Martin is hard of hearing and always hot. Jim - the strange neighbour who appears every episode who is secretly in love with Jackie (but rubbish at hiding it) and is scared of his own dog Wilson. Lots of recurring characters to meet every series too.
Jim is a legend. You think he was weird in this episode, you ain't seen nothing yet! Some of the stuff he does and says in later episodes is just so unexpected and random, you can't help but crack up laughing at it.
Mark Heap plays Jim, he is an awesome comedic actor - usually quite surreal characters, but that's what makes them hilarious. He plays Alan Statham in Green Wing, possibly one of his best characters in my mind - Please watch it at some point, it would be great to see you react to 🤣🤣
Mark Heap (jim) is a brilliant character actor, he's been around for a while I first saw him in Brass Eye and later Spaced - both worth a reaction, but he's also done loads of voice acting work for games and adverts.
Friday night dinner is very clever. You will tune into the oddness pretty quickly. Martin (dad) and Jim (neighbour) are the best characters. The episodes do get better as the series progresses. Jim (Mark Heap) also starred in Green Wing, which I highly recommend you check out.
Here's a fact you don't know that Tom Rosenthal is the son of the old F1 presenter of Jim Rosenthal that used to do F1 8 years in 1997-2005. Boomer and Ms Boomer! :)
Keep watching this!! The dad is brilliant in it. And Jim... well he's just absolutely brilliant and the gift that keeps on giving, there's so much more to come 😅😅😅
The neighbour Jim, is acted by Mark Heap who along with Kevin Eldon are Britains (and therefore the worlds) most under known comedy actors. Both of them are beyond brilliant! So many great T.V. shows owe them a massive debt of gratitude
@@krashd Yes, spaced, green wing, stressed Eric, Alan partridge, fist of fun, black books, jam, TMWRNJ, Brass Eye, the list with these 2 Greats is endless. 😁
They are a Jewish family, so the sons come home every Friday night for dinner with parents hence the shows name. Jim is a weird neighbour who turns up every week. It defo gets more crazy and weird as it goes on but the more you watch the better it gets!
"Shit on it!" is the dad's catchphrase. Both boys work and come to their parents' house every Friday for dinner, hence the title. Paul Ritter, the actor that played the father, was a highly regarded actor that has since passed, he could play any role.
Yay so glad you done this sadly the dad has passed away, he was actually a great serious actor. Jim is a British fav actor his name is Mark Heap and was hilarious in "Green Wing" and "Spaced"
Nice to see you're watching this. I've not seen this from the beginning, but the later ones I watched I loved and I can see you really getting into this show
A note about the 5 main actors on this show. Firstly, Jonny (Will's brother) was a main character on a great sitcom "Plebs". Jim had a smaller role on another great sitcom "Upstart Crow". Upstart Crow starred David Mitchel and Harry Enfield. Mum Jackie was on yet another great sitcom, "Black Books" with Bill Bailey and Dylon Moran. Dad Martin is better known for his role in "Chernobyl" a great drama series. ALL of the shows mentioned are well worth a watch.
Mark Heap who plays Jim in this plays a brilliant character called Dr Alan Statham in another wonderful show Green Wing! You should definitely add that to your list to check out after this
Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are two of the UKs funniest and silliest comedians. Their panel show 'Shooting Stars' is an absolute classic and definitely worthy of your reaction to....it may even prove the most challenging so far...
Mark Heap, the actor who plays Jim, is also fantastic in a show called Green Wing that I think you'd love too. All set in a hospital and absolutely hilarious.
You're in for a treat. This show was absolutely amazing. Got my wife to watch it and she fell in love. So sad it ended.. rip Paul. Wouldn't be the same without you
Lol.. brilliant that you've got around to this.. I came to it late myself but its so good and Jim, the neighbour, just gets funnier and funnier..Mark Heap the actor who plays him deserves a medal.. enjoy.
Love this show. Never fails to make me laugh. A good friend of mine who watches this too, is the five times great nephew of Sir Issac Newton and it was after seeing this I have ended up with a tradition of telling him whenever his relative is mentioned in anything I watch.
They only get to see them once a week cause they’re adults that have moved out they always come back home for Friday night dinner! (Hence the name of the show) :) they are full brothers
Ps...one of the great things about this series is how the ridiculousness builds and the music lets you know it's gonna just keep getting more ridiculous as the episode builds. Brilliant writing and one of the great classic comedy timing examples of british actor's/actresses. Enjoy the crimble crumble hole you've just ventured down 🤣
My all time favourite show, it gets even better with character development and the more you get to know them. RIP Paul Ritter, he’s one of the best sitcom characters ever. Gets so much better when they introduce new characters too, like Auntie Val (Bloody Val!), Horrible Grandma and Mr Morris, who I think you would find particularly funny but is a while off yet so one for you to look forward to.
Great show gets better and better basically it's a Jewish family that come together every Friday night for dinner . The episode with the dead fox is a classic
There's another great comedy that the older brother is in. It's called Plebs, and it's basically a slacker comedy with the gimmick that it's set in ancient Rome (but has a ska/rocksteady soundtrack!).
I'm from Sweden, but I love many British comedyseries. Benidorm, Keeping Up Appearances, Friday Night Dinner and The Inbeetweeners. Probably forgot a lot of other good ones also.
The "sofa guy" in this episode is the guy, forget his name, who did the fairly unknown show "Garth Marehengis Dark Place" which is great and you should definitely cover on this channel.
Being a delivery person makes you hate dogs and their owners. Some people think it's ok to have their dog barking at you intimidatingly as they open the door.
Love your channel I always enjoy how much you seem to love old British comedy, Have you ever seen this sketch called Russ Abbott masterbrain sketch or Not the nine o’clock news darts sketch? A couple of my favourites .. keep up the good work guys keep on booming🥳
i joined your discord the other day with the intention of suggesting this to you, but i never got around to it 🤣 turns out there's no need, wait till you watch the Mr. Morris episodes, by far my favourite
Hi guys. I don't know if it's here I can suggest programs for you to react to, but I strongly suggest watching 'Green Wing' has two of the stars of Friday night dinner and it's completely mad and hilarious! Love watching your reactions and hope this reaches you. I'm a Muppet forever!

A legendary series. Jim in particular gets crazier with every episode.
When Jim 'played' the violin - that killed me! 😆 -x-
When Jim was eating rice pudding 😂
Your bath caught fire?
My missus dies whenever Jim does his thing, she finds it so funny😊
It's definitely one of those shows that grows on you more as you get to know the characters. And yes it does get crazier as it goes on.
You would like 'Bad Education'. It's another school comedy. A bit sillier than the Inbetweeners, but still funny.
