Hi Boomers - sorry to piggy back Friday Night Dinner (which is excellent) to make a recommendation but I'm just re-watching a British Mini Series called Coupling. You HAVE to try this. In summary it is a sitcom and could be described as very much like Friends. Friends is brilliant and, arguably, above comparison but Coupling is brilliant in it's own way too. It features 6 friends (3 girls and 3 guys) and plays with their emotions and clever use of word play. The inuendo is far stronger than Friends. It may take you all of Episodes 1 to 3 to fully understand this sitcom but it is definitely worth it. Really enjoying all of your reactions. Thanks. John
If you wanna collect anything collect a £5 coin. They’re the rare ones and you might want to be quick getting here to get any currency at all. The government is probably scrapping physical money in the next few years so they’re won’t be much printed with Charles on it. They could end up rare and collectible as will all old coins with Elizebeth on them (like in your grandchildren’s age or something, not for donkeys years unless you get a rare coin like a £5. Most of them are worth over £5 anyway just like your silver dollars, they’re super rare

Such a great show. The mileage the show gets from the same premise of a Friday night dinner in each episode is verging on genius. It gets better and crazier with each episode. Best UK sitcom of last decade.
if you binge watch it tom rosenthal and simon birds relationship gets tiresome but everyone else in the show is magic

The same criticism thrown at this show could be thrown at the Inbetweeners. Quite easily. What this show does is tackle the classic half hour format of the British sitcom. It’s repetitiveness is part of it’s charm. Of course it’s not Genius in the way Shakespeare or Mozart are genius but for me it verges on the quality of the old classics like Fawlty Towers and Rising Damp but in a modern setting and with modern techniques such as editing, no laughter track or studio audience and a clever use of music in the cuts. It’s a brilliant show , not perfect just brilliant and verges ( as I said) on the genius of previous sitcom classics.
I would just like to express that this is exactly how British mothers and daughters interact with each other, at any age😂😂

The “go to your room” argument is actually based on an real life argument between the writers mother and his grandmother. It just makes it even funnier that this really did happen.

This episode made me love this series. It's totally crazy, but with a warmth that makes it delightful. And the Granny, she's such a wonderful character.

Just to let you guys know, the dog is the actors (Jim's) dog in real life. Another series with some of the same cast (Mark Heap / Jim and the Mum) is Green Wing, its really old but it's brilliant! Well worth a watch!
Gin is a horrible tasting thing...until you mix it with Tonic Water and add a squeeze of lime, a lemon slice and ice, when it becomes one of the world's best drinks ever!

If you want more Mark Heap, who plays Jim, try Jam - Smart Pipes. I've tried to get so many people to react to it. It's very dark but very indicative of British humour around the turn of the millennium.
I think that there's a massive vein of untapped comedy which American reactors have missed; shows like Nighty Night, Camping, Jam, Brass Eye, Psychoville, The Day Today.
I loved Nighty Night enough to actually buy the DVDs so I’d always be able to access it. Brilliant dark comedy. 😂

They've never indicated that. She's not often available for reactions, which is a clue. Also, I've never heard him describe her as his wife or partner.
@andrewjones575 just unbunch your pants slightly, it wasn't an attack, I'm just surprised. They've been on holiday together, and refer to each other as King and Queen. It was simply an observation, no need to lose your nut.
Thing about Jim is he's too over the top and the novelty wears off very quickly. He goes from funny to irritating very quickly, and no family, no matter how friendly they are, would put up with him for ad long as this family does. Mr Morris who comes shows up in later episodes is a fucking legend

The weirdest thing I ever found was a 5cent piece in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere in the English country side .... How it got there has been a life long mystery to me and it's now my lucky coin ...this field was proper in the sticks like no houses for miles and I find foreign currency there 🤷

The missus and I went shopping a few years ago, when we got back our German Shepherd was piss drunk and there was a six pack of lager all bitten through and empty on the floor.
My staffy ate my weed and he must have tripping balls off it he stood on 3 legs with hose nose touching the door for 45 minutes..he then sat down like he was human and just looked at me with a absolute wasted look on his face ...has was fine afterwards and now I have to put my weed well out of reach because he liked it and now wants it
Really enjoy watching you guys reactions! Just a tip as I noticed you mentioned it before the place is called “Slug & Lettuce” and is actually a bar franchise and not a pub and is usually found in more populated or touristy areas. If you want an authentic pub you would would have to go into more local towns to get something like that

There was a local pub that was called 'The Rats Castle' and was bought by a brewery that use Windsor castle as its logo. For a short period of time they had that under the logo and then very quickly changed the name. Also there's a Slug and Lettuce (not the slug and the lettuce) here, we call it the Snug though so you got it by accident!
There's a Slug and Lettuce in Milton Keynes quite near to Central MK and the MK theatre. It has horrid service i swear

The reason for the pub names being like “The Lions Head” or “The Speared Boar” etc is because the signs could be recogniseable at a time where a lot of people couldn’t read. There were probably a couple called “The Black Boy” 😂

Alison is never seen or heard. She's only mentioned in s1. We never discover what, if anything, is true about her or if she's entirely made up by Jonny.

Over here in Midlands UK we do love different flavours of gin. Ie pink gin, strawberry gin, unicorn gin and other flavours . I don't like the dry gin!! BIG FAN OF VODKA LOL 😆 😜 🤣
