Wade is such a sweetheart and it annoys me that Puleng has more romantic chemistry with KB 😭 and I agree that it was hard to care about the other storylines when Puleng was fighting for her life. This season was heavy af but it does make all the sleuthing from the previous seasons more realistic. And I missed Zama

I realized that the only reason the other storylines were somewhat interesting was because of Wendy and Zama. Chris and Reese are already unlikable and without them that other mess was SOOOO annoying. Like I’m worried about Puleng! We do not care!

1. I also like how the elements of water and blood were displayed in a literal form when Fikile needed blood and Puleng needed to be rescued from the water. Puleng can't swim whereas Fikile is absolutely great at it as displayed in season 1; and Fikile is going through some family identity issues and of course that was Puleng's thing in season 1. 2. I am also happy it took a dark turn and I don't believe it was rushed. It's been building up since season 1 and now we get to see it in action. Human trafficking is a big issue in South Africa and I am glad they did not hold back.
3. People believe Chris was unnecessary but I believe he was the neutral center. He was the only character that was in his own world, worried about things that many would say did not actually matter. He was someone I needed to see to stay in touch with my sanity in the midst of the crazy.

I think "blood and water" isn't only about entertainment and storytelling but about educating as well.
I think the contrast between the Chris storyline and Puleng's storyline is to highlight how the trafficking of children forcefully steals their childhood, and in places where they're supposed to be facing "childhood problems" (like Chris) they're exposed to the dangerous life-or-death situations that take their innocence and traumatize them for life - like Puleng. (if they even make it out alive, because remember some don't even escape, so they live out this repeated hell day-in-day-out until they're eventually killed).

Fiks has to be the most loved person in the entire show.
She has friends that would literally die for her, a mother that celebrated her for 17 years even though she was missing, a sister that put her life in danger to find her, an adoptive father who still wants to be a part of her life, a boyfriend that escaped kidnappers to see her, a biological father who went under the knife for her (it was probably mostly guilt, but still) ...🙆🏾♀️🙆🏾♀️

i feel like Reese's story was all just building up to her conversation with the principal where she gets called out with how she never faced any consequences, unlike the POC students like wendy and tahira and even puleng when she punvhed that white girl in s1, and also the principal herself who gets fired because of her. Principal Daniels says, "There are different kinds of privilege. Get your shit together" and when i tell you i CHEERED!
I really liked the scene at the end between the principle and reece where the principle says that reece benifits from different priviledges even though both her and tahira got a scholarship it just reminded the watcher of the power Levels and the white priviledge which still exists in South Africa (The Camera work in that scene was nice aswell)
I liked this scene too. The board didn't even care about Reece dealing drugs at school but the principle had to fight to keep the head girls scholarship because she was drinking.
I agree on the white privileges that reece has despite being a drug dealer while tahira lost almost everything
I mean being Headgirl is a privilege itself, you are supposed to be the rolemodel for other pupils and the perfect representation of your school. This is why I liked Wendy. She earned the position of Headgirl and didn't just take it for granted, she understood what came with it, which is what annoyed the others. Also, it was rude of Tahira to even think of going being the principles back 😒

White privileged isn’t such a big thing in South Africa so much as class privilege is. Reece is literally an impoverished white girl living amongst her rich black friends
I feel like season 4 is going to be so dark and so different. Everyone's life has changed. I don't know where Puleng's character could go from this. Even with Fiks. I think KB is going to deal with the harsh reality of life cause of what his parents did, remember they're both in jail so homeboy is not going to be probably rich anymore. I think Sam's character is what's going to lead us into this new season and with Tahira's bestie, remember she took drinks from that weird dude at the bar who turns out to be involved in the syndicate. Also we've never met Reece's dad and we don't know why her mom is in the condition she's in, I think somehow she is connected to the white guy they showed in the end.

Fikile's bio dad saying no to giving her a piece of his liver pissed me off like i know your shocked and pissed but your daughter is dieing!😭 I'm so glad he ended up saving her though.

I mean it makes sense that he would say no in the beginning. It's a lot to deal with knowing that 1. Someone had your child and hid them from you, only to them come out when they need something and 2. Not being entirely sure if it's true to begin with. I think he only agreed in the end because of the fact that Fikile visited him plenty times, which would have told him that she genuinely wanted to build a relationship with him. I don't think he would have done that had he never met Fikile

For me Puleng and Chris are the prototype of people NOT READY to be in relationship! Their lives and feelings are so messy they have to work on themselves because they definitely are the reason why their relationships don’t work out

Wade made the right call. They care for each other emotionally but sex would have potentially ruined their friendship when Puleng was most likely going to get back with KB

This season was so dark and I loved the change of tone. It was ALOT at times but the writing and acting was just so much better. I was mad about having 6 episodes but I can see they really invested the budget into making more polished episodes.

Yoooo, Puleng being trafficked was absolutely terrifying. We knew it was happening behind the scenes, but seeing the protagonist going through it like that was wild. Ama’s acting was super good and seeing her desperation to escape made it so hard to watch. Even the scene where Fiks and KB’s dad being shot was so so well done. I’m not really loving Tahira’s storyline and I hated that Zama just wasn’t there. I get why Wendy wasn’t in it as much either but I really missed her as a staple character. It was a good watch overall, super interesting, dark and a tonal switch up.
I totally agree at least Zama was still somewhat there with the messages and calls rather than her completely disappearing

Same I dislike tahiras story line it didn't feel necessary, and tbh Reese could have followed up on that instead the addition of minor characters to try and fit a bigger story, it felt out place

I love how they didn't end the season by making us guess if puleng survived but left enough unanswered questions to make us want more!
Yes. Janet is OK. She was on a stretcher at the end. We saw her before Puleng. And, yeah, I feel like Sam was taken advantage of. ☹️
Yes, I agree. The pictures of him on those screens were absolutely heartbreaking. He looked and may have been unconscious for most of what happened to him but it’s clear how much trauma he’s accumulated. The way he kissed Fikile’s forehead when she went in for a kiss, and walked away looking at his shaking hands was such a subtle but loud performance. I feel so bad for him and I sincerely hope he gets justice in season 4.
@@cece_-gt2sr whew that scene with Sam was heartbreaking. Even seeing him talk to Fikile was so sad. He had no emotions and was just talking in a monotone voice. He played that scene so well. That scene was so sad!

I think Wade and Puleng are way better off as friends, they don't have chemistry and that's fine.

It was sooo entertaining! Like you said, the last two episode got me on edgeeee ! I also really disliked the whole headgirl storyline but then at the end it was kinda building to that little twist with the sidechick chronicle girl telling tahiras friend she knows something and then we learn that the other trafficker is the one guy that was talking with that girl.
But yeah Wade this season was sooo impressive, i also loved Fikile (her hairstylessss) and the parents (except kbs) were all stepping it up a little this season and i loved that !
I said the same thing regarding: Fikile this season! I’m glad she rocked her natural hair a lot this time around.
I liked the head girl thing and the show tackling issues like bullying, but was tired of white boys random relationship stuff. Wether he fucks pulengs cousin or not, why should we care when ppls lives are in danger
I need a follow-up next season on Sam. I'm so worried about his mental and physical state. The way the kiddnapper told his mom Janet that he was dead made my heart drop but even if he wasn't dead (which he wasn't) no telling what they did to that boy. He wasn't with the other captured teens. He was isolated by himself for way too long with those people. 😰 Also when they found Janet in the trunk of the car, what happened to the baby?!

Season 3 was a lot but it was so good. Wade is such a good guy and he's so sweet. Puleng will probably struggle with ptsd her fighting to escape human trafficking. I'm so glad she is safe. I was so shocked that kb mom was so evil. Fiks bio dad is so fine. I'm glad fiks bio dad decided to give her a kidney.

I binged watched all 3 seasons of Blood and Water after hearing that s3 dropped and I was just curious about the show. S3 was definitely the most traumatizing and everything bad that could have happened happens. And that CLIFFHANGER?!? Bro it's a whole fucking operation and I don't know how to feel about it 😭
This season was insane Puleng’s storyline was my favorite even tho it was heartbreaking to watch Ama really got show her acting chops she really stepped up.
•I liked seeing Fikile find her biological father and dealing all these new revelations in her life
•Puleng and Fikile are the heart and center of the show so I loved seeing their relationship grow throughout the season and embrace being sisters they’re gonna need each other more than ever with how everything went down in the finale.
•KB was aggravating me I get it’s his parents but still
•Never liked Wade and Puleng together it was forced and one sided and Wade is nice and went above and beyond for Puleng but he still irritates me.
•Puleng and KB are gonna need a lot of healing and therapy individually first before even attempting to try again the love is still there but it’s not healthy to be in a relationship at all.
•I liked Lunga but then they ruined it with the Chris/Lunga thing like why… I don’t like him and Wendy either.
•I missed Zama so much Puleng was really struggling without her this season.
•I want to see more of Sam instead of these lil pop ins from time to time and what happens with his mom Janet I’m glad she ended up helping Puleng and I wanna know why she was even working with child predators and traffickers in the first place.
•Chris Tahira and Reece are still the boring and annoying white characters that we don’t need but have to deal with anyway.

I think it’s really important they had the horrors of HT shown like that, because it really is expansive, and omnipresent in society and so many people turn a blind eye to it. What happens to Puleng is so sad and intense, but not entirely uncommon. Just binged all 3 seasons! Crazy!! Loved your review!

am i the only person upset about fikile's other mom just being completely cut from the season?i was looking forward to seeing what their (fikile & her) relationship would be like and for us to find out in the last episode that she died was so confusing and shocking. Puleng's cousin being with Chris after he said he would never go for high schoolers was weird...

@@c.o2307puleng's dad got pissed when be found out Thandeka cheated on him. So he called traffickers, "point of grace", but seeing how much Thandeka loved the child he changed his mind. Too late! Lisbeth came and took her. Then accepted money from Nwabisa and gave her the child who then became Fikile. Fikile's dad was away while the whole thing happened, and according to him, he was TOO HAPPY to even think about the logic of it all
I was disappointed by that too. I’m hoping she’s not dead because as crazy as she was I liked her presence on the show
How did she die? I had no idea she died. I knew that the police came to the house to try to stop her from hurting herself. Then I just noticed she stopped being on the show.
Favorite Season so far!!! I love that they had less of the typical teenage stuff too
This season was so entertaining!🔥 The characters have been though so much especially Puleng. Wade is my favourite character and he's always been there for Puleng💕. I was sad because Puleng's dad died but it became more interesting from that point on. Fikile's storyline was great. This season I realised that Matla was always there for KB. I loved the relationship between Siya and KB. Thandeka was really there for her children after Julius died. I was so scared of Lisbeth😳. Chris, Leigh-Anne and Tahira were so annoying😴. I'm curious what will happen to their school, Sam and his mother🤔.

Tahira was an extreme version of Wendy. If the goal was to make me dislike Tahira, mission accomplished. I think Chris’ character is starting to become irrelevant, in my opinion. We seem to be getting the same information about him each season to the point that you no longer care about his character.

I loved Wendy’s redemption arc this season. I agree with you that she should have been there, in person, and not in Spain. The Chris fiasco was getting on my nerves and caused much confusion, as I am sure he is openly pan, but his actions suggested otherwise.
I heard Wendy's actress got pregnant & so did Zama's actress. So that's probably why they were both out of commission this season. Maybe the writers brought in the cousin + came up with the Tahira plot line because they needed a backup with 2 members of the side cast gone (cos the whole head girl/school politics thing & Chris's DL antics was not hitting lol)

This season literally gave me high blood pressure and pre diabetes all in the 6 episodes...so many questions: what will happen to Reese's mother, what happened to Sam, like did those traffickers take a kidney or something out of him, Chris..who does he REALLY want, Wendy or Lunga..and most importantly, will Puleng and KB get back together ❤️ 🤔 🙄 😭..and what will become of KB, now that both parents are going to prison, who will take care of him (and will he lose money and house due to this). Malta is a lawyer so I'm assuming he was smart enough to put money aside for him some kind of way)..and WHAT AND WHY is the reason Sia is being bullied by that Bruce kid..what's that about?.O and is Filkle's mom REALLY dead(pretty sure she is).. season 3 was by far the BEST yet. Can't wait for season 4
What i hated the most was all the dark stuff going on, pulengs dad dead, girls kidnapped and abused, but they kept reminding us that chris was horny. 😑 what i belive is that they dont want us us to forget that this is a teen drama so they keep sprinkling the highschool antics in there, but the thing is... things are getting more serious than that, so they need to let it go. Like, they were desperate to keep ot going that they couldn’t even let chris out of highschool. Byee😂 good season tho, they just need to grow up.
Season three was so good but that was a lot of drama also KBs mother was so aggravating like it’s crazy how no one saw it she had like no emotion besides anger and fake b vibes also they killed pulengs dad 😭 like nah she went through it also KBs dad I like that he cares for his son better then that evil mom

truthfully idk what it is but only half the cast was really acting this season? Like outside of the Khumalo family and the parents no one's acting was giving what it needed to. Fikile's acting just didn't match the intensity of what was happening and it was distracting. Over Facetime Wendy wasn't even acting like her full personality. Idk. Great main storyline and I feel terribly for Puleng. I have no clue what will be next for her. As with Sam the fact that his PTSD was so evident and visceral is awful. Hope he's a main character next season because he's been through a lot of shit

I loved it but i also feel like they should get between 2-4 episodes extra cause 6 episodes isn’t enough for that many plot lines and it doesn’t give us enough time to sit with things (like puleng’s dad’s death)

Chris, well I'm sorry but he's story line from season one is always choose boy or girl, Reece deserved more exploration this season and the whole puleng killing people was traumatizing no cap....girl needs therapy on a another level cause ain't no way she's damaged internally only from her father's death and when she experienced getting kidnapped and almost getting booted to another country. Final note we want at least 10 episodes for season four Nosipho Dumisa (creator of the show) must stop playing with us we're 😩 tired.

Wow very positive take on the season not what I expected
I personally didn't finish watching it, I couldn't even get past the third episode cause I felt like some the scenes and dialogue were so dry.... I was forcing myself to sit through an entire episode it wasn't pulling me in.

While this is a great review, my one disagreement is that we needed those other school related side plots to remind us that they are all still teenagers. The juxtaposition between taking down the syndicate and the oop while still dealing with petty drama like head girl nonsense and teasing, made the show so much more realistic and dramatic. (Sidenote I tried to use my words carefully since youtube can be sensitive)

Chiilee, I couldn’t have said it better myself, that was definitely what S3 was for me; although I wonder what the story will look like in s4 though because a lot has happened okay, and I don’t know how much more they can stretch Puleng’s story given that now she’s found her sister, she’s been rescued from taking things too far, she can’t be with Wade anymore- what more could they do? But I guess we will find out.
