Thanks, John, for another good one. All those apartments overlooking the job and not a soul enjoying the free entertainment! What a waste. Either this building or the new one behind it seems to have been built several feet off the property line. I didn't expect that in the down-town area.
By my reckoning, the gap between them was about three feet. I couldn't find a site plan that showed the existing buildings and property lines, so I'm not sure which building was set back. There will be a small street created between the existing apartments and the new ones so that the new building will not totally obstruct the windows of the old one, although they will lose their view.
@@JohnZWetmore Thanks, John. That's the risk you take when you buy a "view" apartment in an area of active development, assuming these are condos and not rental units. If they are rentals the landlord should take a hit on rental value, I'd think.
It's sad how common it is for old buildings to have their original, character-filled brick finish covered over by this exterior rigid styrofoam cladding that makes all structures appear as bland, look-alike boxes.

They are rentals. But relatively few units are on the side that will have the newly obstructed view.
