I usually go over my subscribed channels periodically to see any new uploads, so I don't need the Substack system, but it's a great idea for those who do rely on the untrustworthy bell button!
Yeah, youtube is so weird. Really hard when you are trying to grow a channel and reach new audiences. I don't even have a subscriber box on my TH-cam feed anymore, it just disappeared. Checking out your Substack :) Enjoy your weekend, Quill!
My channel has the same problem. I have usually less than 200 people who see my videos in the first week, which means they are not notified. Also what I noticed on our channels is that in the last year older videos are very slow at growing.
I gave up on notifications ages ago. Daily I go to my subscriptions page then add what I want to see to watch later as I can't watch straight away. Otherwise easy to forget.
Personally I see the notification but have a tendency to not click unless very interested in the specific topic but instead go to my favorite channels about once a month and watch all the videos that have been posted since I last visited. A mini binge if you like. That might also mess with the analytics but I don't know if it's common for others to do the same.
I have let a few creators I'm subscribed to - know about the exact same thing that's been happening to their channels mainly goth, alternative & firearm related they're either not notifying - unsubscribing or just deleting the channel so be on the lookout for that also.
i always see whatever people post on my subscription page. if i dont watch it, its just because i dont find it interesting..i was never unsubbed from anyone/videos not showing up in my subscription page.. its just that i don't want to watch it
If we consider the fact that you do actual research on topics that disspells the myths of the european Dark Ages, I really wouldn't be suprised if TH-cam (which of course has no certain biases whatsoever) wants to shut you down.
I don't think TH-cam is intentionally trying to hold back my channel. If they did, they would have de-monoticed the video. I think the reason to why the notification system don't work is because they made it work like the subscription box.
