I love this game. So glad to see NL playing it. Please play more of this my dude. I actually have beat the game, shields give an increased parry window, very useful. Relic rooms are always great, as relics tend to be incredible. Sich’als treasures are incredible as the perk, id recommend the one that restores 50% max hp when you kill a boss is great for the 3rd levels, as well the one that gives you 5 relics instead of two for each boss works very well
5 relics is great, but I tend to feel like if you need a bunch of health after a boss then your run wasn't build very well to begin with. I really really like extra max corruption
I see your point, as since the game is built around avoiding damage, but this is just a build i used when playing through the game, and it really helped me out. It gets even better for the harder levels

Seeing NL not using the off-hand whip attack for 3-4 surrounding enemies was mildly amusing and funny

Yeah. The game has changed a lot since he played it. And the issues he had with the gameplay were addressed years ago (rushing through the game just to get time doors is not really viable)

@@kemixxx7 Most people don't. The reviews are very in the middle on steam. Thats why they've paid him 4 times now to play it.
@@unicornsrdabest i think the problem with the game is that it doesn't have a story. The gameplay is great, i'd even say its better than hades, but the game as a whole feels barebones. Imagine hades without the characters, without story, without the detailed character progression system, just going in run after run fighting enemies and that's the whole game. That's basically how this game feels

This game is criminally underrated. It has a lot more innovative mechanics than Hades, it's a shame

Hell, I forgot this game existed. I should probably buy it. It looks pretty fun
i give you this one tip: learn how to parry. Dodging is for cowards (except against ranged attacks, parrying them is pointless and hard).

@@TheDarksteel94 i wasn't really being serious. im just trying to say that parrying is a very important part of the game. dodge-rolling is easy and a good way to get out of a jam but parrying is rewarded very heavily in this game and should be used instead of dodging whenever possible.
If you decide that parrying is too hard and only rely on dodging you are shooting yourself in the foot. while you're learning to parry you will get hit a lot but once you get it down it will change the game immensely

Yeah it's great, glad I bought if at full price last month, defo worth it. I get why it's not as popular as something like hades though.
have beaten the game before the new patch but only with a noncheating chese method that is like a cheese strat but it doesn't always work even when i play well. The best weapon I've seen is ceremonial dagger and that is the cheese. Not kidding. The dmg it deals if you get as many stats as you can is astonomical, I've had at least bonus 170 dmg with it by always getting perception (it scales with perception) from altars no matter how costly it was. It has been the only way I've been able to beat it on the later levels.
In terms of general suggestions my favorite weapons are claws together with daggers (because of the ceremonial dagger), but depends on your own playstyle.
If curses realy bother you you should be fine getting curse up to 3 curses (and some are actually more useful than bad for the playthrough).
Best blessings are (because of ceremonial dagger) 1.Reptilian hunger 2.Divine perception 3.Sich'al's treasures (these all compliment a playstyle for the ceremonial dagger but are definitely changeable)
The biggest bonus for daggers is that their off-hand combo is an attack that is also a doge with a really good doge immortality window (even tho it takes some getting use to it lets me play in a really aggressive but also secure playstyle)
the full combo with daggers are - secondary weapon + Max amount of primary weapon attacks that doesn't end with a power attack + off-hand combo with secondary weapon ( first attack is a gap closer and the off-hand attack is a distancing mobility tool. It's really versatile as a possible build and the best one I've come across utility wise and damage wise).
Choosing to go for as many stat upgrade rooms is also advisable together with only upgrading ceremonial dagger if you have one.
Feel free to comment me any different viable builds i want a different playstyle that's viable.

This game looks very similar to Hades... they both look cool and I want to get into one, which should I play?
It depends, Curse of the dead gods is slow, but challenging and you have to plan your path, kinda like slay the spire, it puts no focus on story though. Hades on the other hand has much faster, chaotic combat and a nice story with cool characters. Hades also has a great OST.
Just look at NLs Hades and Curse of the dead gods vods and decide what looks more appealing, they're both great.
This game looks really interesting, but my backlog of games is not getting any smaller :(

It plays very differently.
Hades was a gem, more games like it and full of original creative ideas are a win win
They play waaaay different.
It's like saying One Step From Eden is like Slay the Spire, sure the two games share elements, but they're different vibes and different pogs, brother
Plays much differently. Honestly feels a whooooole lot harder.
