Saying the BG were the “most powerful” is questionable. They were one of a few major powers in the Imperium. The Guild, for example, was arguably as or more powerful-Paul’s key to the throne was forcing the Guild to kneel.
True! You know your lore. That was one thing about the new movies that had me puzzled. I know they have to make choices when adapting to film, but the guild was forgotten in these new movies. We got a look at some guild navigators at the beginning of the first movie, but they don't appear in the second movie at all. I guess they opted for just showing three factions: Atreides/Fremen, Harkonnen and the Emperor/Bene Gesseret. Well that's 5, but no Guild makes me a little sad. And that's the trouble with knowing the source material of a story. You can't ever be happy with the movie interpretations. I think LOTR got it the closest but even then people were mad that Tom Bombadil was taken out. Sheesh!
@@FTTLOMS I think they did it for ideological reasons. They also painted the BG as the victors “no matter who prevails on Arrakis,” which is the exact opposite of the book.
The Bene Tleilaxu were also a very powerful and often overlooked faction in Dune.
The Dune story is all about the Bene Gesserit, it's the unfolding of their grand plan over thousands of years, it's why the God- Emperor was the harshest to them. To prepare them for what was to come. You need to read all the books.
@@strandedstarfish The book was very explicit about Paul being a black swan that completely wrecked the Bene Gesserit plan for ascension, and his son dickslapped them for another 3500 years until they finally learned their lesson.
I think the limitation that the BG have discovered in themselves and that has led them to the inception of the breeding program for the Kwisatz Haderach is of their own making...They can't unlock the male component of their ancestry and as a result they also lack the male perspective when using their prescience and looking into the future. This is why they want to breed for the KH, i.e. the male version of a BG with ancestral memory vision down both lines. But if you look at the places in the book where they describe the reasons for their inability, you notice that they have been limiting themselves without perhaps knowing it; they talk about a place where they "dare" not look because it is "terrifying" to them as women or something in this direction. This suggests that looking there is not dangerous in itself, but is made dangerous by the way they feel about it. This suggests that thy are essentially limited in what they can achieve psychically and spiritually because of FEAR - which is deeply ironic because they have also invented the Litany Against Fear which states fear to be "the mind-killer"...They will probably not be prima facie "killed" by looking at that part they want the KH to look at, but just as they can change their body chemistry and their physiology at will, they very likely also conditioned it to respond in a certain way to that side simply by fearing it, to the point that it really would have become lethal for them to look there.
So their problem is not so much that they wanted to create a being who was by definition more powerful than they and who they, consequently, would never by able to control in the way they wanted to. It is also that they failed to see that they would essentially have no more purpose and hence no more power base once the KH did indeed exist because their vision was this limited. They were very likely also never aware that their limitations were of their own making because they did not even follow their own teachings.
The only problem is that Kwisatz Haderach never meant to be male, Jessica was meant to have a daughter not a son, but because she loved the Duke, she defied the Bene Gesserit and had Paul, the Bene Gesserit were pissed, but they used the excuse to make peace with the Harkonnen as pretext, when Jessica had a daughter, she was tainted by the water of life, and was label as a abomination by the Bene Gesserit, the same label that Leto II would have later on, after he strip them of their power, Kwisatz Haderach pass from becoming the symbol of the perfect symbol to be labelled a abomination and never try again.
Actually its a matter of simple genetics women have 2 x chromosomes while males have an x AND a y chromosomes and other memories are GENETIC memories if they don't have a y chromosome they can't access male memories
@@TheKeyser94I thought they planned for it to be male, just not Jessica’s son but Feyd’s and another BG member’s son no?
@@lokekennee8850 No Jessica was supposedly to have a daughter, not a son, that then would be train in the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, of course, it would be their final step in their eugenic plan to create their perfect being, but Jessica screw their plans, when she had a son, because she loved the Duke, and the Bene Gesserit weren't happy, but they use the excuse to have a daughter to make peace with the Harkonnen, also, Feyd mother may have been a Bene Gesserit, but she was never involved in any shape or form in the eugenic plan, so the idea that Feyd could be a Kwisatz Haderach is really stupid, like the people that made this movie not bother to read the books or study the lore, they really dumbed down the Bene Gesserit in this movie, to the point that they tell a novice, Irulan, all their secret plans, Irulan not become a full Bene Gesserit till Children of Dune, and she didn't even hide it, Jessica complain about that in Children of Dune, Irulan use her genetics to maintain the appearance of being young, sightly older than Paul children, like being in her late 20', early 30', and Villanue totally exterminated the Space Guild, one of the most important factions in Dune, they control the CHOAM, that controls the shares of spice, also without the Space Guild there wouldn't be commerce or trade in the known universe, this movies are mediocre, barely have any world building, is pure spectacle, with barely any substance.
@@TheKeyser94 You misunderstood what I am saying here.
Yes I know she was supposed to have a daughter, and the Bene gensserit was planning to have her daughter marry Feyd and give birth a male child, which they initially planned that child to be the Kwisatz Haderach.
So it was always planned to be a male, just not Jessica’s child, so essentially Jessica messed up their plans because she wanted to give Duke Leto an heir.
Nothing from Brian Herbert’s books should be considered canon.
Amen. Mediocre fan fiction, at best.
It was written in consultation with his Dad before he died. It's all canon
@@strandedstarfish Completely false. His father died long before any of it was written, and KJA and BH were caught red handed lying about finding “notes for Dune 7.”
I already know this almost 20 years ago, and back then we only have the Lynch's movie and that TV series. He was never ment to be but the thousands of Humanities voice echoed throughout the millennia chosen him, for they themselves knew if humanity were to survive they need a Kwisatz Haderach. But unfortunately for Paul he saw what The Golden Path will do to humanity and what he needs to become and choose to exile himself for his inability to accept the burden. But Leto has no problem with that. Leto II carried that mantle instead.
Don't watch it.
To be a reverend mother, the BG needed to drink the water of life not OD on spice. Apart from some of details being incorrect, this is still an entertaining video
Amazing summary! Thanks so much!
Not technology, thinking machines. A lot of technology still exists but thinking is preserved for humans only
In other words AI
@@elizabethjansen2684 yup AI, but also calculators, internet, etc.
@cencent2189 internet? I don't think so it's complex machines that are banned
@elizabethjansen2684 Yeah, I'm just basing it on not seeing it in the movies or hearing it in the books.
But tbf they do use radio communication, so it could be just the fact Dune was written before the internet existed. I think they should have internet, it wouldn't make sense if they didn't.
Just Subscribed. Great Video!!
I don't remember telekinesis anywhere in Dune.
He meant to say telepathy
It's from Brian Herbert's prologues. Not considered canon by many.
@@bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 So can the Bene Gesserit spoon together ?
No...the water of life makes a reverend mother
Thats for the reverend mothers on Arakis
@@dewaldkatzke625 The BG Mother Superiors become that way after going through the spice agony…the water of life/spice agony they’re the same thing.
The water of life is just like a more concentrated version of spice
Before the water of life, there were other agonies that created reverend mothers. They weren’t as successful as the spice agony. Not all sisters become reverend mothers.
@@bridgetboyle687the first one being the Rosak drug named after the first BG. You’re right - many BG’s could not convert the various drug challenges and died. The poison has to be just deadly enough but not too complex to neutralize via thought and modifying the poison
Thanks for clearing it up
George W snorting spice made this video for me, lol!
He's gonna be on some fuzzy math for sure😂😂😂
To explain such loss of life is easier than people think. Just answer the following:
Why did the houses, after finding out what the emperor did, still sided with him and against Paul Atreides?
And on that note, if the houses considered his rule illegitimate, why did he still feel he had to marry the emperor's daughter? The symbolic gesture became irrelevant and would lead to more problems than necessary.
FYI UniverseGalaxy. Saying it because the majority of Dune fans don't know the difference.
Its essentially simple, Atradies gained too Much Power and the House Took it by essentially Hijacking the Religion of the Fremen, Taking the Only Spice Producing Planet and Swiftly and Somewhat Brutally Taking out the Bene Gesserit Mother, the Emperor and House Harkonnen,
This essentialily signalled to Every House that House Atradies is a Threat to their Own Individual Power and decided to Strike Now while Paul was essential still stuck on Arrakis. (Also for all the Houses Knew Paul essentially was acting Rouge as they don't really knew what actually happened between the Emperor and House Atradies, so for all they knew Paul was just doing this as only a bid to gain power.)
You should have brought up all the Duncan Gholas. That was a neat side story that made him a very powerful man as well.
Great video tho.
Spice is a hell of a drug 😂
Bro tryin na understand this shit is like trying to understand RCT/CE/DE but 100 times more complicated 😂.
When he was talking about "the voice" i was just hearing sharingan and genjutsu but with the voice instead of eyes. I'm glad these guys did this, and i hope they do more cos i still am confused a little bit 😂.
MBD 🔥🔥🔥🔥
TBF Frank was Stoned while doing it
So they took all of Indian Yogic and Meditation techniques and made it into Bene Gesserit origins and methods
So what?
They’re influenced by the Catholic Church too
your edit skill is awesome dude... 😂
Epic..amazing..40 years of waiting for Dune Universe to come to the casual viewers..love rhis series sinxe i was a young boy ..was consider a nerd..but now Dune us everywhere..more books ..more.movies and tv series about it...
I’m glad they’re not dumbing it down for people.
dune is truly a
complicated and
intimidating series
that truly has so
many moving parts
that is truly happening
from through all at once
for instance there
is so much betrayal
back stabbing
a organization
having way to
many secret
plans
craving for power
having to many
agendas
and manipulating
so many people
from throughout
the whole universe
along with so
many other things
from through the
past 10,000 year's
it's honestly pretty
funny that part
of the series
really gives you
some vibes from
attack on titan
when it's comes
to eren getting
the finding titan
ability
and seeing the
future from within
the process of it all
and simply seeing
the comparisons from
paul and Leto the second
from through there journey
but all in all
great video
keep up the
good work
quick question
would you ever
do a video on
the butlerian jihad
or the
dune encyclopedia
7:21 That conman is hilarious 😂
great channel.
The BG reminds me of the CIA
haha werdddd that Leto eggplant was too good for Jessica.
Wow was Chapterhouse NOT been read, you did well enough for the 1st 3 books.
Look what Helen Mohiam did to the Baron. That’ll learn him.
👏🏿
He didn't know about it for a very long time.
🔥🔥🔥lets go
So basically the BG have all 3 forms of Haki and there advance forms, damn why didn't he just that smh...
How did you manage to pronounce Siona as Sinoa? Amd Ghanima as Guyana? And the other names whatever you pronounced there...?
What's really gonna blow everyone mind is when they find out they cloned Duncan, then they used him as a sex slave basically and how he is the real one.
Mentats uses sapho juice not spice melange.
Let's go MBD 🥰🥰
Good video, but u dropped the ball at the end
10,191 - not 1,191. Good video!
Idk how they lied Paul literally became the messiah he literally had powers so they really didn’t lie
honored matres were fish speaker descendants, not bene gesserit descendants
0:35 I thought that test was just to see if he fit their definition of 'human'...?
Omg that was def a spice trip 😂😂
At the end of the 6th book .The real MVP is Duncan Idaho.
Say it with me now, SEE-OH-NAH.
No Leto the second might be more what they envisioned
I didnt get that one thing, is every Mentat one assasine? I thought they r human computers?
Hrs also on acid
Google scytale irl. Also its pronunciation.
That is brown sugar bro.
Lol bro, the pronunciations are whooping your behind.
Wait a minute, the Benes process are all named with Indian words,in Sanskrit?
Are u also Anime Balls Deep?
That is 10192, not 1192.
Couldn’t they make worm farms to gather their poop? Normally we as humans, would have changed the DNA of the worms to keep them at normal size, build farms and that’s it…we would have poop farms on all planets😂
mmmmm tapas
Damn no spoiler alert?
Funny if you are a bengali, everything makes sense in dune.
🎉🔥⚡🎁
🧑🔬🧑🔬🧑🔬🧑🔬
10191, not 1192.
IT IS NOT DOO-DOO!
Paul as a woman would be like Dylan Mulvaney. Not exactly attractive.
07:20 he is a rapi*st and currently on run
NO CRAP THEY ARE ONLY SUPPOSED TO HAVE GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jessica could have just had another child that was a girl
11:50 "Choose the sex of their babies." not change the gender of the baby before birth.
Reverent mother? Lol
Spoiler Alert!!!!! Paul is not the kwisatz haderach
Oh I think he was but he didn't want to be. Remember his son was more powerful. The idea was that the kwisat was supposed to be controlled by the sisterhood. Personally I think they failed to understand just what such a being really would be.
Give some gap between your sentences.
The last line is easy.... its the woke... a terrible terrible thing that can rot away any franchise
This title is a lie. Dislike.
So much wrong in this presentation. Trying to be "cool" made this whole thing inaccurate. Pop culture and bad interpretation made this unwatchable. Try again when ..and if.... you grow up.
The first dune movie was the best one ever made and it always will be the actor that played Paul in the new Dune movie was too effeminate also the storyline the way they made it in the new movie sucked and before you say something yes it was a good movie but the storyline still sucked
paul>pa el.. Mean father el >saturn.
This dune is not dune in the real dune Talia say he is the kwisatz sadarac that movie is much better because it tells the hole story Thay didn't break it in two this version sucked better effects though
