    Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I’m actually in the process of opening up a fresh juice delivery business. You have taught me everything I know about juicing!!
    Hearing your story of why you started juicing was powerful because I felt as though this idea was “given to me”. It’s amazing to think the same force that saved your life may be the same force that gave me this idea.
    Thank you again for everything you do John!! I would love to get in touch with you!

    Another stellar video! Just wanted to make a quick point about lemons. Lemons are the one thing that organic they are fairly expensive. They are really expensive compared to conventional. I think a small bag of organic are 5.99 while a small bag of conventional you can get at the dollar store. BUT, I learned that lemons have two fungicides, one that enters the rind but the other one soaks into the fruit. It's a bit of a dilemma as you don't get much out of lemons but they are needed. But, 5.99 vs. 99 cents. 5.99 the way a person could go through lemons could get really expensive and not have enough to buy other organics that you can eat.
    I struggle with this a bit as I definitely want lemons but don't want to pay so much for something without sustenance. Yet, at the same time I don't want to drink the juice of a fruit that has fungicide.
    Additionally, there is that entire unknown category. If it's certified organic they label it but maybe some of the conventional lemons in the store are actually organic too without the fungicide and they just don't go with all the regulations and payment to get the certification so they can't say it on the label. This unknown group of vegetables and fruits it would be nice to have more information instead of guessing....and hoping.....well, it probably doesn't have pesticides. Maybe it does. maybe it's soaked in some chemical.
    Not a problem if you eat a small amount. But, if you buy the same fruit each week like a certain bag of lemons or clam of tomatoes and that has chemicals on it....toxic chemicals....it could cause chronic toxicity and actually be the poison pill and ruin everything a person is doing. It's so contradictory and ironic that a great deal of the people that juice do conventional due to lack of availability and cost. And, in this case, it's possible they are doing more damage to themselves....if they are consistently eating a high pesticide herbicide fungicide product like say conventional apples or spinach.

    Hey John, your videos are so very inspirational. Do you ever get your AIC checked ( tells how your average blood sugar has been for the last 3 months, costs $ 30)
    I also have a blood sugar meter, GE brand, cost 10.00.
    It’s helped me as I have insulin resistance. Just two bananas spike my blood sugar to 170. I’ve been ill so can’t exercise much but if I walk/ jog extremely fast for at least 6 minutes, slowing down for a bit if it’s too much, my blood sugar can drop 60 points. I know this sounds incredible, but it happens all the time. Burst exercise is being studied for diabetes. If I didn’t know this I would be in trouble, as fruit is almost the only thing I can digest ( and a little nut milk, some other stuff) and if I don’t do this burst exercise I’m STILL HUNGRY NO MATTER HOW MUCH FRUIT I EAT. THe sugar does not enter the cells unless I do burst cardio after each little fruit meal. I recommend to anyone who’s at risk to get a blood sugar meter. Peace and health to us all. 😘 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

      I generally get blood tests every year and check a1C as well as other factors. I encourage people to get blood testing. I own a blood sugar meter as well. :) More info on blood testing at th-cam.com/video/9R8DMBmwmiw/w-d-xo.html

      Wow John, is that really you? I never expected to get a response from the real John Kohler. I’m so happy you do this and encourage others to do so too. Knowledge is power and I think it’s always good to do a reality check now and then no matter how healthy one is. Thank you so much for your uplifting work. I thought you might think it was weird that I asked but I really wanted to know! I feel good to know that you’re so on top of things.
      If you ever run across someone like me who just can’t eat fruit because of their blood sugar please tell them how burst exercise can lower their blood sugar rapidly, far more rapidly than slow walking could. I know you’re really into working out, I saw your contest with Jake Mace, that was great 👍 😍
      Thanks for the great blood testing video.

    How much nutrition would a 5 day old juice lose in terms of percentage compared to fresh juice? would it have 60% of nutrition on the 5th day? Thank you

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have not seen data on this. Best is to drink the juice RIGHT after you make it. I would rather drink 5 day old juice than eat a bowl of white rice, or eat other packaged foods or fast foods myself.

    Can I cut my vegetables, vacuum seal the cut vegetables, then juice them daily? Or will the cutting the fruits and vegetables lose the nutrients?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      its best not to cut ANY produce until right before you juice it. In most cases, produce will start to oxidize the more exposed surfaces.

  • @richardgray8593

    As long as the jar is filled to the very top, there is no need to vacuum seal the jar at all. The juice has displaced all the air. But, if the jar is not completely full of juice, THEN the vacuum pump is a great idea.

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When I have tried to fill my jars to the brim (overflowing) I never seem to get all the air out. When I have done this with highly volatile sugar cane juice, it will always ferment due to the small amount of air left. Furthermore, when I go to unscrew the lid, the juice spills/drips everywhere. When I have preserved sugar cane juice with lemon under vacuum, as shown in this episode, it has saved easily 2 weeks (Although I recommend saving only up to 1 week)

    Hi John, could you please elaborate on why you said you rather drink a 7 day old juice than a raw food kombucha. I thought a kombucha would be equally as healthy. What am I overlooking in this comparison?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A Vegetable juice will be more beneficial to my health than a kombucha (which is mostly water with tea brewed into it). Juice is 100% water from plants and significantly more nutrients, including minerals, antioxidants and vitamins.

    Hi John, in an older video you also recommended using another plastic vacuum sealing system made by Mangocore - this came with a plastic air pump and plastic covers for wide mouth jars. I've been using that system - do you still recommend that system, or prefer the FoodSaver system in this video?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still have that system, but found that the seals would end up leaking most of the time. This method is much more fool proof and works better. I no longer recommend that setup due to the leaks.

    Extremely informative as always. I also checked the older storage video about the bottles etc and while I have no problem with making juice at home and drinking it fresh, how about the taking some to work aspect? (We just got a Greenstar Elite so theoretically the juice will be of top quality.) I mean, is it still worth to make some extra and take to work, while it's not gonna be vacuum-sealed and probably just in an ordinary glass or stainless steel bottle (there is a fridge at work so at least it will be refrigerated), compared to drinking/eating other stuff?

    • @discountjuicers

      Fresh juices even if stored not in the best way (but kept cold as possible) is most always better than other things you would consume at work in my opinion.

    I don't get it. How can air be sucked out of the seal? Through where?

    • @richardgray8593
      @richardgray8593 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As long as the vacuum pump can make the pressure negative relative to the inside of the jar, air will flow out of the jar, escaping around the seal. When the pump stops, the normal outside pressure is higher than the pressure in the jar, and the lid snaps down and seals tight.

    Hay John why not try using food grade CO2 fill up your glass jug to a 1/4 with carbon dioxide as the juice drips out of your juicer as it fills because CO2 is heavier the the oxygen bubbles in the juice from the juiceing process the bubbles of oxygen will be pulled from the juice and rise to the top of the glass jug above the CO2 therefore stopping the oxidation of your juice.

    I'd love to see a juice-off between the Greenstar Pro and and Angel Juicer from someone like you with such a big experience😁👍. Nice advice by the way to help getting more people into juicing😊

      At this point, I do not sell, nor do I recommend the Angel Juicer due to their company policies. I am unable to say more due to legal reasons. If we can get our differences resolved, I would be glad to test, compare and promote them.

      A dark container is better. They make purple colored mason jars. they are expensive. In the fridge, its dark anyway.
