If this tech was more affordable I imagine it would be a valuable asset for Indie games, and rather than rely on a cast you’d likely only need 2-3 voice actors. Depending on whether or not the Voice deepfakes could pull off convincing emotion is another story, since from what we see here the Ai voices sound mostly neutral.

Like all AI projects, this tech has the same amount of danger as it has positive opportunity. As a society, we need to move forward with this tech with strict regulation and responsibility. I can't wait to see the amazing projects people will create with this tech, and dread the use of this with misinformation campaigns and abuse.

Yeah, u fortunately one side will do it (like superpacs) and the other will join in. Remember how dems wanted to get dark money out of politics but just threw in the towel and joined in. These lawmakers are all old and have no concept of where this technology is headed, by then it will be too late. Just imagine a presidential candidate weaponizing this a day before the general election. It will be impossible to explain it away and then when in office they can just keep using it to remain in power.

honestly it's a great tool, it's really impressive already and I can see it SO useful for small companies and such. two issues though:
1- price: the subscription based with limited recording time etc, looks REALLY pricey for small studio/crew etc
cos if you're a big company, chances are you don't need that tool, you'll just hire actual professional and the price won't be THAT far off, while having a perfect result
2- the artefacts: while it's bluffing at first glance, you can really hear those digital artifacts in the voice, especially at the end of words and into the lows of the waveform.
while it can be used for sure, you either need to clean it (and it means more work) or you can use it as is, but it's far from perfect and can probably get annoying real fast depending on the project you're working on.
that being said I'm sure those tools will get better every year until it's close to perfection, but for now, the price plus the result just don't match, I'm not ready to dump that much money on such a product.

Not to mention it's very expensive if you want to get enough out of it. for 120 euros per month you get 30 minutes of audio per month, 630 euros is 1 hours. Even their highest prices Max version limits to 12 hours per month. Some of the top-end professional voice actors can cost $100-$400 per hour to book, Unless you're looking to hire one of the really, really well known major famous voice actors you'll be paying more for the AI voices than an actual voice actor. The only way it makes any sense if if you have many characters to voice with small amounts of dialogue each, that paying several voice actors may then be more expensive.

Do something like a reverse Turing test, set someone to a deepfake voice from another member of the crew, and then get that same member to speak in their own voice on camera. The catch is, you have to do it in a way where we the audience question if the voice belongs to them, even if he/she is the original owner of the voice.

For example, if you used AI to read a text in a language different than your native one, would you be able to fool somebody to make them think you somehow learned overnight how to be perfectly fluent in a language you've never used before? (Which could also make for some hillarious content, btw)
