I think the guards didn't immediately act because Ilia didn't start being violent or attacking anyone. She was just someone voicing their concerns and opposition to what Blake's dad was saying. It wasn't until Sun jumped at her that they likely realized who she was and what her intentions were. That's my guess anyway
She not only spied on Blake and her family she attacked and injured Sun which is reason enough to arrest her on the spot.
@@BuzryHaproMandalorianHunter but did the guards know Ilia and what she looks like? did they give them a physical description? It's a reasonable thing to do sure, but they might also not have done that. Which would explain them only reacting once things got violent

Always weird that Raven thought one piece of rope and a flimsy cage could hold any Schnee.
Sure, you could underestimate Weiss, people assume she’s a princess-type. But we know Raven has been keeping one eye on Yang.
While this is true... Raven also has no way of knowing Weiss figured out summoning and without her weapon she doesn't have dust. So her abilities were really restricted in general.
Also might have just assumed she wanted to get home. The Branwens don't exactly have high opinions of Schnees
One thing I love about this volume is designs and lighting. The eyes of the character look amazing to me, not sure why exactly, they just pop out in a very pleasant way to me!
If you remember at the start of the series Blake was reading a book about a man with two souls each fighting for control. Sound familiar??
Its funny when you look back on volume 1 and see that blake is reading a book about a man with 2 souls talking about ozpin
This might just be my head canon but I'm pretty sure each groups story is taking place at different points in time. Two big pieces of evidance for this is when Ghira said the attack of Haven is planned for two months later but Ozpin says classes resume in only one month.
I agree with you! There are more things that happen later on that confirm this as well.
Not just head canon but at least between Weiss, Yang, Ruby+JNR vs. Blake it's 100% canon.
@@YvaanXIVBlake’s timeline is behind because it took time to travel to manajerie and time to travel to her other destinations so while ruby was at home recovering from the fall of beacon she was almost in manajerie and when ruby and friends began their journey to haven she was already there. In my opinion Weiss and Blake’s time lines are synched and ruby and yangs is taking place in the present. In this episode Weiss is already in the bandit camp but in a past episode Yang was on her way there. Not to mention we don’t know how long ruby was incapacitated after the fall of beacon I think they said a week but I might be wrong.
Something you may not have picked up on in this episode - when Ghira (Blake’s dad) talked about Adam’s plan to attack Haven, he said it was two months away. When Ozpin talks about the same subject, he says it’s ONE month away.
Blake’s timeline is happening before everything else in this volume - so Sienna hadn’t been killed by Adam yet, when these events took place with Blake.
Ruby unleashed a brutal, vicious, unmerciful and unprovoked assault of adorable cuteness at defenseless Oscar, he never stood a chance.
You are damn right, his pure heart was an easy target for cute friendly Ruby 😅💕
Aaron did a wonderful job doing Shannon’s performance as Ozpin.

Ozpin is always paired with a soul that has similar personality and moral traits as him and he is pair at whatever time his previous body is... no longer habitable, and it is always a man's (is Oscar's case, boy's) soul. What's really cool is that Ozpin and his "curse" were foreshadowed all the way back at the beginning of Volume 1, pre-unified team RWBY was sleeping in the hall and Ruby asks Blake what book she's reading, Blake explains that its a book about a man with 2 souls.
I wonder if you guys have begun to piece together what Ozpin's (and the important characters around him) allusion is.
Over all I'm very excited for you two to see the climax of this volume and the following one as well.

-Oscar, my son, my soul~ As far as we know, Oscar is the youngest incarnation, right now being only 14. As far as other criteria (gender, age, race, if all of them have to have Oz-names) - we don't know
-And thus, Rosegarden gained sails and started to float, with Ruby's flirty eyes and Oscar's awkward smile. (Puts up the shield against antis with a reminder for some that RG is ONLY Oscar and Ruby, no parasites included)
-Blake about her book, v1ch3, "it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body"
-You can actually notice teeny little mannerism differences between Oz and Oscar, like the way they chuckle for example. It's not just the big strokes
-Just... the talent Aaron Dismuke has to do Oscar's voice with Oz speaking and make it very clearly different, but still coming from the same body. I love this man.
-I once read a thought, that Oz intentionally "made them do something embarrassing" to make RNJR less guarded around Oscar and not treat him as just a vessel, but as his own person with his own awkwardness and sassy commentary at Oz's actions

Blake's book is Remnant's version of _Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide_ , and isn't actually related to Ozpin's situation.
Yes, he said he's the combination of countless men, so we can assume that he doesn't become female. Also like-minded soul probably refers to the ideals that one has. Fighting for good, wanting to be something (more than a farmhand). Traits like that. Keep in mind Oscar didn't have to go to Haven, he made the conscious choice to help in what ways he can.
To be fair "countless men" can also refer to just people in general. Like mankind. Though it is most likely he just stays with guys, like maidens stay with women

- Keep in mind that the Blake storyline is stretched over a longer period of time than the other story arcs with larger time skips. Ghira's press conference likely happened before Adam made his move. He says Adam's attack on Haven is scheduled around 2 months from then. For Ruby and company? It's only about a month away from what Ozpin said later on.
- They've never met a person with 2 souls, but Blake read a book about a man with 2 souls back at the start of Vol 1 (the pre-team assignment sleepover)
- Well, Qrow is _mostly_ sober 😋
- Well, supposedly Adam is leading a splinter group, not the majority of the White Fang. And the local members are more soft sell than hard case when interacting with their fellow Faunus, the better to recruit/gain donations to the Cause.
I think Ozpin said similar _mind_, not soul.
I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. You made me think a bit about Blake's journey. She was inspired by her Dad, but he was stepping down. She was inspired in the same way by Adam, but that went dark. And then she was inspired by Ruby. Keep searching.
I like how since (SPOILER ALERT) Blake reunites with the rest of the team, she always is supporting of Ruby and ask her for advice and what plan to do, to me, Blake is a brave and loyal soldier searching for the right leader to follow, and she had found that worthy leader in her dear "Rubs" 😁
Probably late and someone might have said it already but Oscar/ozpin little situation is mentioned in the first season by a book that Blake was reading when she first met Ruby
I think they should react to two episodes a week or something. RWBY can be hard to follow without follow up episodes
While I do want to see them more often as well. Keep in mind they don't have to watch once a week for us to see them once a week. For all we know they watch them in bundles of 3 and post them individually.

plus we have no idea when volume 10 will even start being made if it will at all. i truely think it will be another 3-5 years before it does (to much going on in RT with them up for sale) so they have the time.

It is always good to see your reactions😊 Just a correction... The white fang brothers/monks could be there calmly because only the Vale branch was responsible/accused for the crimes. Any other branch and the main one, the one there in Mistral, were not responsible for that.

This chapter is why I think Volume 5 is one of the most underrated of the series, Ken & Beth. The writing of and blending of these different storylines is so amazing. They keep you into all of them but guessing on what's next..... Very good storytelling!!

Ah, the first episode where the diverging timelines become glaringly obvious. Blake's running about two months behind the rest of the show, although it isn't really made particularly clear anywhere.
Fun fact (If it hasn't been mentioned already): The voice actor for Vernal (girl bandit) is the voice actor for Android 18 in Dragon Ball Z Abridged.

You got it, Chaos!! The storyline of each view is varied in times. Makes it all hard to follow at first. But, better to tell each storyline fuller and bring them together. 😎👍🏿
Blake's part of the narrative in Vol 4 and 5 is slightly out of sync with the other characters, occurring before what is happening with RNJR, Weiss and Yang by about a month (or two?) if I recall correctly.
Fun Facts
Fact 1: Ozpin recalls telling Ruby that he made mistakes more than any man, woman, and child, a callback to "The Badge and The Burden, Pt. 2."
Fact 2: In this episode, there are some scenes foreshadowed from the three Volume 5 character shorts:
-Ilia saying her parents were killed in a mining accident was revealed in the "Volume 5 Blake Character Short".
-Vernal telling Weiss no one will save her was foreshadowed in the "Volume 5 Weiss Character Short".
-Ozpin suggesting Ruby learns hand-to-hand combat without relying on her weapon is a callback to the "Volume 5 Yang Character Short".
Fact 3: As revealed in the Volume 5 Director's Commentary, Ghira's speech regarding the White Fang and Adam Taurus takes inspiration from Barack Obama's speech about Osama bin Laden's death in 2011.
"they live in a time when blind loyalty exist", um we live in that time. everything from fast food stores to religion and politics. its so bad that even when its obvious they still do (just look at the current sniperwolf thing going on) so this is not far fetched.
You make a very good point. You go back to the time this chapter originally aired..... We can see it was at a time in our world certain people and events were taking shape. The writers of RWBY has had a thought provoking way of being topical in their storytelling. Monty set that tone and they have kept it up for the most part. 😎🌹❄️🖤🔥

Unfortunately the White Fang in Menagerie still have plausible deniability at this stage and have "officially" distanced themselves publicly from Adam & his "splinter group"...Ghira doubts this but doesn't have concrete proof of their involvement yet.
And now you see 3 things happening but oddly the time lines don't match do they?
No, which is why it's important to note when the attack will happen. That's a set date. The timelines will convergence.
Ghira's speech is roughly occurring about the same time as RNJR fighting the Geist Grimm.

weiss is the best character imo her character development is high tier the show failed a lot of characters but she isn’t one
Yeah, "like-minded soul" means a lot when you can reincarnate. Otherwise you could end up with someone who would never do the things you need to do in your next life. It should be a compliment to whoever he takes over, that you're capable of great heroism, but I don't think it really makes it any more comfortable.

I think they should’ve kept the double voices with Ozpin and Oscar
Honestly I like that it doesnt last long. It would be hard to understand in some scenes for the viewer. In-world it makes sense that as they "merge" Ozpin's vocals go away for Oscars

I think "replaced" is a negative way of looking at it. Consider what we know about Ozpin and his experiences (not going into it because of spoilers) and it's pretty clear this is just... The easiest way of explaining his situation.
@@undeathghost5627 It's not negative, it's just a fact. He wasn't cursed, he wasn't at fault, he got asked if he wanted to help out with 'attempt #2' and agreed.
@@BuzryHaproMandalorianHunter Not from a 'certain point of view' at all. He had the full choice in the matter and accepted. Also, there was no 'failing to stop Salem' before the 'curse'. They took that entire section and replaced it with a different lore piece.
