When doing so keep old piston still attached wait for new one than check ! And see how it’s designed than do it yourself! There’s gaps in between these rings the wrong gap means you’ll end up buying another block 😅
tysm dude iv watch many vids and you were by far the best of them all you explained very well along with showing it well so again i thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Only thing not mentioned is the way the markings on mid and upper rings should face. Far as I have done it, they always face up. Awesome vid. Job well done.
Rings I have gotten., had no markings at all. Is there any way to tell then?? Because I failed my first attempt. Engine ran really hot. Carb was ment for 50-80cc was upgraded and had diff air filter on it that came with carb. Put 100cc bbk on it. Ran a little, got hot and died wouldnt start up. Was possibly thinking it was likely running to lean. It ended up breaking the walls of the grooves between the compression rings and scratching the cylinder. I got a new kit arriving tomorrow and I feel a little more confident it wont break again.... but the rings I got were not labeled so I have no clue how to tell cant find a good video on 100cc gy6 rings.
hey, the upper piston ring should actually be at the marking (because it is closest to the combustion... it is additionally cooled... with the intake on top
What's the difference between the middle and top ring as mine looks exactly the same just a different colour, but I've put the black ring at the top but if that's going to cause a problem I'll swap it around before carrying on with putting it back together
Hi Joey.I know this is an old video, however i'd like to know how those new rings sat on the cylinder walls.I had never seen the way you clocked the rings.Where did you learn that way from.Thanks.
Question after my stock piston ring land failure on the gy6 happened I replaced the piston and head and boom happened again after like the 3rd time took the kart out .... any reason you know of that it would keep happening?
because they have different ring end gaps, different shapes of the edges and the material hardness is also different ! its also important to take a closer look those 2 rings have markings to let you know which side is the upper side... always mount with the letters up on top. if you put them in wrong order or upside down the engine will not work long, loose compression and burn oil because the rings cant seal correctly.

Thanks very much for the information. I was able to fix my engine and restore the compression
So much important info left out!
I agree, You have a link to something better?

I have no markings on the rings I’m fitting this is what has lead me to this page
Yes, the compression rings have a mark on 1 side.
That side of the ring faces upwards
Nice job bro, thanks for the tips..great video god bless
Once again, excellent work.
Does it matter what way oil ring if facing up or down.Or not matter?
Thanks good vid
nice vid! going to be changing rings on the gy6 on my go kart.

At the 12 o clock position right? An 2nd ring at the exhaust right?
Best video I seen so far!!!!!! Thanks and keep up the great work
I don't get it should the top on be 5 or 3?
Hey Joey so did you put 2 rings at 5 o’clock??
You said 7&5 9&5 but I'm sure you meant 9&3 ???
I love the video but please when nest please bring the camera closer
Thanks for the video, I'm doing this right now

Does this change depending on the cillinder brand or displacement or is this a one size fits all kinda deal?
how bout if you have to gap them?
Does it really matter they are going to move once u start the engine?
Hello there great video quick question though is the oil ring sandwich between the two skinny oil rings.
Yes
the instructions are good but missing a lot of info
Can you please tell what is o.d of a 50cc piston thanks Mike
Why not the compression rings on 10 and 2 oclock?
I so much appreciate 👍😘
Thank you very much
Thank you
Instructions clear im calling a mehanic

No reply...Hmmm
Yep never seen that ..the intake is the biggest pocket in the slug, this is well dodgy
a 180cc stage 6 big bore kit
Thanks
Sorry but either I missed it or you don't explain WHY these gaps have to he at a certain clock position??? Talk to me like a 2 yr old.
Hi! How much gap does the ring need if I put it in the cylinder? Thanks
.008 for 50mm bore, usually .004 per inch of cylinder bore

Ring gap grinding to spec
Gotta push the ring in the cylinder with the piston top, then check the ring gap with a feeler gauge.
Its called end gap.
is the same for the car piston?
The rings look a little loose
What the size???piston ring????
Awesomw
Failed to tell ya the order of the top 2 not the same lol for that key failure you get thumbs down
Why is the white on top and black ring under?

@@ramiretz I think that's what I did wrong last time busted a c-clip somehow but I never paid attention to the markings on the rings
