Daniel talked about the WOnder Wall, where puzzlement is what keeps us awake though we’re calm. He says it fades when you know this, but I know this and still stay awake. I’ve been lying peacefully (mostly) in bed for a few months now, but still can’t get back to sleep. I wake up because as an older person, I need to use the bathroom every night, not from fear. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Hi. I'm an older person too, and I know what you mean about the bathroom thing. But, starting about 2 or 3 months ago, I've had nights (not many) wherein I sleep for 6 to 7 hours straight - without waking up to use the bathroom. Not once. Mmmm...how is this possible? Well, I'm thinking that other than not drinking water late into the night, I am having this long stretch of sleep because there is zero hyperarousal. I am not thinking about sleep. I am not anxious about anything (at the moment). I had nights like this regularly prior to the onset of insomnia. I have been a student of the Sleep Coach School since May of 2023. Many, many, many speed bumps, ups and downs, frustration, confusion, etc. But always headed in the right direction. Things are better with every passing month. All I can say to you (or anyone) is - this.takes.time...sometimes a lot. Best of luck to you.
@@susanashley8454 Thanks for your reply. I hope you have more and more of those nights with no hyperarousal that allow you to sleep longer! I also don’t drink or eat anything for 3-4 hours before bedtime, but I still wake up and the only thing on my mind is that I need to use the bathroom. Once I do, I’m at peace, but no more sleep that night, even if I’ve only gotten 4-5 hours. Maybe it’s knowing that I probably won’t sleep. Good luck in finding continued acceptance!

Very useful, thank you both. So much of what you speak about links in with my understanding of nonduality and acceptance.
