1. I think I would keep them in the card. 2. My favourite serial is the Green Death which was Jon Pertwee's third-best story thus it once made it into the Jon Pertwee trilogy. 3. My favourite special feature is the movie cut of The Green Death as it actually improves the story. I also love the new special effects on Planet of the Daleks but wished they used it on The Green Death. 4. My criticism is that The Green Death didn't get CGI treatment over Planet of the Daleks as The Green Death is a more important story but has some shoddy effects. +I was going to get this boxset for The Green Death, but now The Legacy of Time has an audio story called The Sacrifice of Jo Grant which exceeds The Green Death on Timescales, so I no longer need The Green Death for the Third doctor trilogy as the third-best story is The Sacrifice of Jo Grant. +Funny thing, The Legacy of Time also has a multi-doctor story called Collision Course to mark the 20th anniversary of big finish featuring doctor 1,2 and 3. And the season 10 BluRay boxset has the first multi-doctor story to mark the 10th anniversary of the show featuring doctors 1,2 and 3. And they are both a series containing 5 stories of more and are both around the same price except The Legacy of Time is a little more.
1. We don't have them in display cards in the US, only dust covers 2. I'd say The Three Doctors 3. haven't gotten the Blu-ray yet 4. the only criticism i have is that it's shameful we don't get the Blu-ray boxes in this style in US.

Hi Jason love your posts. I keep the blu ray box set backing cards/holder as I feel it adds something to the set. An extra fanfare of the effort and extras inside. Fav story from this season Three Doctors for me. The first mile stone of course but what a real treat to bring back Patrick Troughton.

The Green Death is a true classic and well ahead of its time. Mind you it's hard to think of a bad one this series. Perhaps The Three Doctors and Planet of the Daleks are slightly less good.
I don't know if I've already answered the question about the card but in case I haven't I used to throw the cards away because I used to like the boxsets being all in 1 thing but I've decided now they look better with it so I'll keep em,(season 17 onwards)(p .s come on season 22)
I got this box set, collecting them all, my favourite bit is Katy introducing the discs on the box set box set and Audio commentary, I had been curious as to how they where going to do it, worried they might get someone to do an impersonation of Jon as all the other box sets have the doctor introducing it, but also I had a feeling it might be Katy as it seemed the only logical thing, to do, I cried when I heard her voice, I was so happy she had done it.

I like the animated menus, reminds me of the Red Dwarf collectors editions (I'm going on about Red Dwarf again, sorry) which took a tour around the engine room and the sleeping quarters.

The Five Faces of Doctor Who was broadcast in November 1981 & comprised;An Unearthly Child,The Krotons,The Three Doctors,Carnival of Monsters & Logopolis The Krotons was show as it was the only complete 4 part Troughton story
When Tomb was recovered in 1992,it was kept secret so that it couldn't be shown as part of the Seven Faces series of repeats.Instead we had to pay £12.99 for the VHS release
Hate the slow upload too. "To select audio navigation..." UGH. Love the Gell Guards, that pic must've just been cosplayers of the actual creatures. Yeah. ;) As well illustrated as it is, the cover looks a bit like like Jon Pertwee's lying down and all those villains are bursting from The Third Doctor's glowing ribcage. Also like the idea that there are a few classic Who's I haven't seen (about time some of those elusive lost episodes were found). Quick question: apart from the glorious packaging and a few extra extras, are the Blu-rays really worth the upgrade over DVD? I bought the Fourth Doctor ones for the Tom Baker interviews/behind the sofa stuff I think, but they ain't cheap.
Thank you - I like that interpretation of the 'behind-scenes' pics actually being Gel Guard cosplayers. Hmm, yes, I do think The Collection's sets are worth the upgrade. I'd say there are more than a few extra extras - you do get the feeling that there's a real concerted effort behind each box. And ohhhhh, they look so nice on the shelf. :D
The biggest gripe I have with these box sets is that the space between the cover and disc holders is too small. It makes it a bit difficult (at least for me, and I don't have fat fingers) to access each disc. I accidentally bought a season 18 that looks exactly the same as the other collectors editions from the outside but all the discs slide out making it easier to access. I am not really sure if this is an Australian only release or not? I do also have a gripe with this version as well as it does not come with the internal Tardis fold out. If they could make it with this feature as well it would be perfect. And yes I keep the outer cardboard flap on for display.
I keep the card on as it keeps the box from opening. My favourite is probably the green death because the maggots are just so iconic. Either that or the Three Doctors. I haven't seen all the special features, but I continue to really enjoy the behind the sofa feature. One thing I dislike is... hmm. Personally I would have put at least one maggot on the cover, but that's just a nitpick. I'm not sure what I don't like. Oh, yes I do. The artwork on the discs are such weird decisions. Surely for the green death you want jo and maggots or maybe even the Boss, but you just get a pic of the doctor as the cleaner... and for carnival of monsters there's no Drashig!
Hello! Thanks for answering all my queries - that is a fine effort. :) Everyone seems to keep the card on, then. Not just me. Good. And that's a good point about the lack of maggots on the cover! Guess it must be hard to fit everything on there, in an artistic way. Ha! In terms of the disc images, I do have a bit of a dig at those in the video, but when I think about it, I suppose the idea is that those images don't have to actually the stories to anyone and so they can afford to be more... random. Ha!
When placing the 4 beautiful Blu-Ray sets on the shelf I keep everything on the set due to the lack of space in my room. I eventually want to display them properly with the front artwork facing out and the slipcover behind it or beside it.

In terms of the bonus features I’d say the convention footage and Looking for Lennie are the best special features, criticism would be the Planet of the Daleks CGI effects, they’re very inconsistent as they both improve and detract at the same time. They seemed to have had a significant downgrade since the last boxset.
Couldn't stop thinking about The Green Death when I was watching Arachnids In The UK. The Green Death I thought was a better story through remembering, now I have a copy I can see If I was right when I watch it. At least The Green Death's title didn't make it out to be a nationwide threat then have it only as a local threat that could escalate. Arachnids In The UK not a dishonest but a slightly misleading title compared to The Green Death's.
I wouldn't get too excited about Planet of the Daleks. I personally don't enjoy it that much... don't want you to go in with very high hopes and be disappointed

Man, we got cheated on the packaging in the US. Not only do they not list the sets off as seasons, but we don't get anywhere near the amount of artwork nor a booklet. I wish the US sets were as detailed as they feel half assed. Have all of the previous sets included booklets like that?
Hi there! I believe they all have featured booklets, although I don't have the Season 12 set. That's a shame, if the US sets aren't as elaborate as this. Sorry to hear it.
Yeah, the US sets are just a standard plastic case with a cover and then the discs only feature the main cover artwork. The two Baker sets came with a small insert page to say what features were on each disc and that was it.
The carnival of monsters was re-shown on bbc two for The five faces of dr who, in 1981. heres the th-cam.com/video/MLRy0ha1Hfs/w-d-xo.html trailer that was shown. I keep the J cards on for extra protection. Also really enjoy your videos.

The bit of card on the outside is called the ‘taco’ by the BBC Studios peeps. I keep the taco on, for completeness, because I am a nerd.

Planet of the daleks episode 3 looks a lot better now its hard to tell its a 16mm print apart from the poor audio
