That fire and those tears are what got me into Gundam. I had no idea it wasn't a thril ride, but a rolercoaster of emotion, awesomnes, life lessons, action and most importantly, man-made metal angels of death I was getting into. I was always at school when it was on TV so I only watched ep 12 and ep 13 fully. And then it stopped being broadcasted. Afterwards, I forgot about it for a time. But when I got myself on youtube, I eventually remembered and watched until the last episode where I couldn't believe the inJUSTICE that was done to Shinn. Afterwards I stopped watching last 4 episodes. And soon after I only watched AMVs. And after that, I drifted to other timelines. I really need to watch Seed Destiny once again before i am going to theater to watch SEED Freedom.. because my friends told me like that, such as there's some pieces of SEED Destiny part will be the bridge into the new conflict and it will be make us easier to understand the movie of SEED Freedom.. 😢
I have seen many anime openings in my 3 decades of being alive. There are others I like more objectively....but still none get me more hyped than this one.
This opening really gets the blood pumping and hypes up the Mobile Suit battles! ❤🎉And I got a good chuckle when I saw Athrun with Cagaili, Meer and Lunamaria...he's in a love pentagon lol. 😅😂
Even though I largely favor UC Gundam, without Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny, I would of never discovered and gotten into Gundam as hard as I do now. Been a Gundamhed since 2005 bc of Cosmic Era Gundam. I still salute people (for some reason) the way that Shinn does in the intro to this very day.
If you can read Japanese though, SRW Z indeed does GSD right. I love how most, if not all, of the games that feature GSD all properly make Shinn the MC of GSD. The SRW Z series, ACE R, etc. The creators of those games all knew Shinn was screwed over by Fukuda and his lackies and made him the MC he should have been, while still keeping Kira and Athrun important.

Because it was easier to be lazy and bring Kira back in to cash in on his fanbase than it would have been to write character growth for Shinn and make him a proper MC, let alone write it well.

Destiny had such a strong start; kick ass op, Durandal’s words to close off each episode, and constant character development for shin. Then Jesus Kira came back. Don’t get me wrong, I love Kira as a char, but I feel so short changed thinking about what Destiny could have been.
Better protagonist? No. Seed is miles better than Seed Destiny 😂😂😂😂 Shinn could have been better if Destiny had a better story. But the plot in SEED is probably what carried Kira as a protagonist. Seed just had much better writing than it’s prequel.
He was. Until Fukuda and the writers sold him out for their cash cow Kira. It’s still clear as day they originally planned for Shinn to be the MC, just as clear as it is they later deliberately sabotaged the path into a good character they had built up for Shinn in the first 12 episodes. Much, if not all, of that terrible writing they did to make Shinn look bad is still super cringe…….
