    I definitely agree with you on the sloppy ductwork install. I work in new construction and I see a lot of terrible ductwork installs in custom homes.

    I have a rental house that had a gas leak I told my renter to call the gas company, they came out within an hour unlike your gas company they found it with a sniffer the gas valve in the furnace was not shutting all the off I replaced the valve & no more leak I would have been soaping all the pipes & never found that one

    It’s surprising, the scrappy work you see on gas lines by various so called plumbers! 40 years experience commenting here!

    I thought the lengths and locations of that flex pipe was limited to short and not through walls.

    Question
    When doing a pressure test are you still able to use soap and water to find leaks

    its a pain in the butt sometimes but I'm glad the place I live don't allow any flex line anywhere hard pipe all the way. Its much safer in the long run

      this is another case of no need to reinvent the wheel homes have had hardpiping for ages no problems but they wanna say metals to expensive and yada yada, but they don't have nothing to worry bout cause its not there problem if it goes Kaboom

      I've seen it near burn down houses in my area. When lighting strikes a home the energy can travel along the pipe and jump out where ever there is something else bonded to earth, blowing a whole in the side of the pipe!!! It becomes a torch running in your attic, basement or walls.

      Black pipe can leak too. We also use flex pipe at dryer and range appliances. In my area it is actually legal to use flex on water heaters generally. But not furnaces.

      Eric Wotton i hate the flex and still run steel gas lines on everything.as far as the lighting on the flex, you are suppose to run a #6 ground from the gas line to the ground in the breaker box to prevent what you mentioned.inspectors should catch this if it’s not done.

    Have the plumber come back and redo all the fittings. Don’t you take on the responsibility.

  • @mdovideo1414
    @mdovideo1414 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why don't they just use copper tubing and flare fittings.

    Tell the gas company to call you when they are on their way.

    I love how you answered your own question at 8:41 ish mins in. "I hate it when they call the gas company and not us. all they do is cut it (slap???) off..."
    Yeah, no shit. The explosive asphyxiant is leaking in the home, where they cant isolate it, during a general test. It's the gas companies RESPONSABILITY to shut off the gas. It's YOU'RE RESPONSABILITY to do a pressure test and fix leaks. I'm sure you have the 2500$ leak detectors that we have in our state Jim-bob. Just do your job and don't sling dirt at others for doing their job. You might get some back splatter if you don't.
    After watching the full video again... i know you aren't out to get anyone, but are just making a video while you work to be "real". what you may not realize, is that every word you say will be looked over. You're handing lawyers video evidence before anyone even asks! Just make sure your videos are of TEACHING quality NOT INFORMATION quality.
    My point from before still stands though.
