Just be warned that EoW is a more traditional Zelda game with actual puzzles that require some thought. Even with the flexibility of the echoes, the puzzles will force you to use your brain a bit lol. I only mention this because a lot of players who started Zelda with BotW expect just that.
Awesome top 10 list you've got here! I'm looking forward to play Astro Bot! Looks really fun! One of the old ones that I've played last year was Death's Door. It was a great surprise. Thanks for the video!
Silent Hill 2 Remake was the best game I played year brilliant in every single way and shape, wow you played alot of games that's awesome you beat them all.
I'll probably pick it up when its cheaper. I'm not really a fan of paying full price for games anymore. I love the RE4Make and Dead Space remake. I finished RE4 and I'm about halfway through DS now. Both of those were fantastic remakes and I'm hearing the same type of praise for SH2.
Nice list of games! Had similar thoughts on a bunch of these. Zelda EoW and Astro Bot were such nice surprises last year. Paper Mario TTYD was fantastic. FF7R was my personal fav from last year, loved it. Happy that Yakuza game delivered for you. Still gotta play those and now Kaze lol.
Yes!!! Definitely play the Yakuza series - in terms of storytelling, absolutely amazing. Same vibes as FFVII Remake / Rebirth in terms of you loving everyone!
I got to agree with your top 2 on the list. Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth has such a good story and great characters and Astro Bot was just a blast, so damn fun it really reminds you of the old school days of 3d platformers
Man, I could nitpick about Astro Bot, believe me lol. But at the end of the day, I realize now that I didn't outgrow 3D platformers, or 2D ones, for that matter. They stopped being good, and I stopped playing. I've said this before about AB: it gave me Mario 64 vibes when I first played Astro's Playroom. But I didn't take the game seriously because it felt like a tech demo and it largely was. That said, the "gimmick" controls, the excessive haptic feedback, the high resolution/framerate, and overall incredible execution for a tech demo was impressive. Then when AB was announced and garnering praise, I decided to revist Playroom. I beat it in a night and immediately decided that I wanted more and that I'd be purchasing AB even at full price (which I largely don't do anymore). It isn't perfect, but it's so fun that the flaws can be overlooked. And that's what Mario 64 was: a flawed game that reinvented platforemrs in 3D. AB takes that Mario foundation and just polishes it.
I always loved how early paper mario had a bit of an edge to it that very few other mario games even attempted, here's hoping we'll finally get a return to form in the next one
Darn it! You’re really wearing down my resolve to not start the Yakusa series lol. I need to have a life! … and get through my ever growing backlog, of course :) played so many great things this year! Hm, got really into Persona 3 … I also replayed Crisis Core and yeah oh man I still love it.
I loved Yakuza: Like A Dragon but damn was that game a time sink. I easily put 50+ hours into it and was nowhere near close to beating it. A lot of that is on me and my absolute NEED to do side quests and explore the world, but still. I've got just over a hundred hours in Persona5 Royal and I couldn't finish it either. 🤣 I enjoyed Crisis Core for what it was. I only just beat it back in October 24 after buying it in the fall of 23. I expect to revisit it at some point and maybe tackle the trophies. I've never been an achievement hunter, but as I find myself trying to squeeze every ounce of joy out of a game, I've started to actively work on it.
You finished a bunch of games! I didnt finish as many (thanks to those dang jrpgs and my personal fav of 2024, metaphor refantazio) but I did get a lot of great recommendations from this video
Dang, that's a great list! And any list with the Super Mario RPG remake makes a lot of sense! Still hoping Nintendo will drop a Hard Mode difficulty update lol
Right with you about sci-fi RPGs! Even a lot of the ones that are out there hide it under another genre! If you’re on the hunt for one and have never played any of them, the classic Genesis Phantasy Star games are a lot like Star Ocean, playing around with some fantasy trappings but always firmly aware that this is a sci-fi epic and the player is ready to delve abandoned space stations, fight robots, and maybe even hop planets. Phantasy Star IV especially is one of the best JRPGs of the era.
Great top 10 list, some of my favorites of 2024 were Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Astro Bot, Silent hill 2 remake, Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
There were so many good new releases last year that i didnt get around to Echoes of Wisdom so i do plan on getting to that this year! I did play Minish Cap around the beginning of last year and its such a nice little time that its its at least a top 5 Zelda game for me now.
The games I played in 2024 were older releases, but some great games nonetheless. My faves (all first time playthroughs) were Breath of the Wild, Ghost of Tsushima, and FF5.
Another Code Recollection is the best game I've played this year, with such an emotional story about family. I've also played GOW Rangnarok which was a great sequel. It showed perfectly the conflict with Freya by how she was turned from best ally, to an antagonist and then back to even better ally. The only bad part of Ragnarok was the giant land arc.
Thanks for sharing your list! Spider-Man 2 sometimes feels like an underappreciated game. Few things beat being Spider-Man and that game gives that and some. FF7 Rebirth might be my game of the decade. It is such an amazing game improving on the combat, adding an open world that is fun to explore, amazing world & character building side quest, and more fun mini games than I know what to do with. It is hard to imagine how SquareEnix can improve on it. I want to get to infinite wealth. I tried the first Yakuza game and just bounced off it. Maybe I will give LAD a try and play the series from there.
Hi Paige! Awesome list. Really looking forward to FFVII Rebirth coming to PC. Loved FFVII Remake, so I am anxious to continue the adventure! Have a blessed day!
I played 35 modern games. 24 PS4 games quit 14/24 of them. Then played 11 switch games which I quit 0 of them. As of now 16 retro games. Probably it'll be 2 more of them as of now 16. I played more games this year in both modern & especially retro.
My favorite game of 2024 is one I finished in 2025 (last night lol): Metaphor ReFantazio I’m a lifelong RPG fan and it is the best one I’ve ever played (more than any DQ, FF, or Persona) Also loved Astro Bot, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Stellar Blade, Balatro, 1000xRESIST, Silent Hill 2, FFVII Rebirth, LAD Infinite Wealth, Indiana Jones, Prince of Persia, and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom 😊
I'm diving into Yakuza this year and I'm still debating with whether to start with Like a Dragon or the Originals. I've played Yakuza 3 so I feel like I should play the main ones first, but really want to play the turn based elements in like a dragon. I also need to grab Star Ocean second story R!!!!
I started with Yakuza 0 and my next one is 4…but Yakuza: Like a Dragon is kinda its own thing. Sure, there are references but it’s fine if you haven’t played any. You could always just play that one. And yeah, Star Ocean is amazing! It’s just a good old school adventure!
Spider-Man 2 is honestly a brilliant game it has a great story and I love how much Peter Parker struggles those are honestly how you get the best Spidey stories although i do thing they understand used Kraven he is such a complex character and they should have given him more time and of course Venom was awesome especially what Tony Todd did with the voice .
I love my JRPGs, however my favourite game of all time is Shenmue 1 and 2, have you played them? they originally came out on the Dreamcast and then on Xbox, but now available on PS4, couldn't recommend them enough
For me my favorite game last year was tsukihime a piece of blue glass moon vn love it to bits and now im just waiting for the continuation which has no release date and is likely going to take 4-10 years to be made. (I wish i was joking)
Great top ten... a few that I have played and several I have not (all in the shame pile.... except AstroBot... shame on me). I hope to get a 2024 list out, and it's on time if it comes out in January, right? Looking forward to see what you play for 2025! My favorite for 2024? Spoilers....
Those are nice games. I'm still trying to get all endings in Star Ocean The Second Story R once a month, in the year 2048 I might succeed. I´m also catching up. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium is a game I played for the first time last year. That game holds up realy well, that might be the best game I´ve played.
I enjoyed Kaze for what I played, but got stuck at the plant boss, and constantly dying over and over and over, kind of turned me off. So I sold my PS4 copy. I just stink at this type of game. I beat DKCR though. Looking forward to tropical freeze, but Kaze is definitely worth checking out. So is Yooka Laylee and the impossible lair
Kaze is a very cool idea... however, WAY too hard. Im a vetran of platformers and done all DK games but this game was just annoyingly hard. Rage quite and sold it. Shame! The Zedla game was AMAZING though, and one of my fav Zelda games to date. Suprised me! Mario RPG was fun too, but for me a little dated now I think.
Well you are a gamer femtrooper. Well switch 2 be announced thursday. Final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth going to be on switch 2 never made the profit from it. Yes the thousand year door i need to finish i got half way done.
@femtrooper yes work in hot sun in Arizona in summer time so I stop. I been playing red dead redemption on switch I like the story to it so far. I like western stuff sometimes. Also been buying games on 3ds and getting my dreamcast fix. I see you like sega said live subscription service they starting.
Been playing a lot of early 2000's games lately as I recoil away from open worlds. Best game I played in 2024 was Half-Life 2, by an astronomical unit.
Really cool list! I'm so happy you got to play and experience both Xenoblade 3 and Paper Mario TTYD, I love those games ❤
Yayyyy! So much emotion in XC3! 😭😭😭
What an awesome top 10!!! There's a good few games on here I need to still play!
Yay thanks!!!
Awesome list and video! Hopefully I'll get around to playing Paper Mario TTYD and Echoes of Wisdom this year.
Do it! Both are great!!! Also great looking games too.
You are most welcome! Astro Bot is great, you’ll love it!
Silent Hill 2 Remake was the best game I played year brilliant in every single way and shape, wow you played alot of games that's awesome you beat them all.
I need to get to that!
@@femtrooper it's brilliant honestly if you like horror you'll love it
I'll probably pick it up when its cheaper. I'm not really a fan of paying full price for games anymore. I love the RE4Make and Dead Space remake. I finished RE4 and I'm about halfway through DS now. Both of those were fantastic remakes and I'm hearing the same type of praise for SH2.
@Xoulrath_ I'm gonna stop buying games at full price as well from now unless it's a game I have been anticipating for a long time
Great video! ❤ Always worth watching
Thank you!
Awesome games you showed. I like Kaze & The Wild Masks.
Thank you!!!

Man, I could nitpick about Astro Bot, believe me lol. But at the end of the day, I realize now that I didn't outgrow 3D platformers, or 2D ones, for that matter. They stopped being good, and I stopped playing.

I haven’t found one I didn’t like yet actually! I definitely need to replay the original one!
@femtrooper origami king was a good step for sure, I still prefer the older battle mechanics so if a new game had that, I'd be all over it
Darn it! You’re really wearing down my resolve to not start the Yakusa series lol. I need to have a life! … and get through my ever growing backlog, of course :) played so many great things this year! Hm, got really into Persona 3 … I also replayed Crisis Core and yeah oh man I still love it.
Loooove Crisis Core! And I get it! There are too many great games to get to - it’s a fantastic problem!

That would be cool! Maybe in a sequel down the line… :D
I’m still waiting for all of the ff7 remakes to come out to play them. I really need to get on the like a dragon games.
Please do! They are sooooo good.
I can’t wait to play Astro bot this year!
It’s so good!!!
Right with you about sci-fi RPGs! Even a lot of the ones that are out there hide it under another genre!

Tuesday is already looking brighter thanks to your amazing presence ✨️ 😌 ☺️ 😍 🤗 😎
Aw thanks!
Glad you liked it 👍 😊 ☺️ 🙂 😌
Hanging out with you is my favorite part of the day 💛 💕 💖 ❤️
very awesome video
Thank you!
There were so many good new releases last year that i didnt get around to Echoes of Wisdom so i do plan on getting to that this year! I did play Minish Cap around the beginning of last year and its such a nice little time that its its at least a top 5 Zelda game for me now.
That’s awesome! I have lots of Zelda games I need to get to still!
I have so many games I need to complete. Just never enough time.
Oh man, I get it!!! It’s hard!
I played Kaze the year it came out, loved it! I know Nintendo Life did review it, but indeed, not enough people talk about it.
Yay! Glad you liked it too!
The games I played in 2024 were older releases, but some great games nonetheless. My faves (all first time playthroughs) were Breath of the Wild, Ghost of Tsushima, and FF5.
I need to play FF5!
@@femtrooper it has knocked FF9 out of my top 3 FF titles! The job system was absolute perfection in 5, much improved from 3.
I still need to play Rebirth and Yakuza and it will be a while before I get to them. 2024 was a great year for gaming
It was! Those are two SOLID games. Highly recommended!
Kraken in Spider-Man? Sounds fishy....
🤣
Another Code Recollection is the best game I've played this year, with such an emotional story about family. I've also played GOW Rangnarok which was a great sequel. It showed perfectly the conflict with Freya by how she was turned from best ally, to an antagonist and then back to even better ally. The only bad part of Ragnarok was the giant land arc.

Fabulous! Love to hear it!
I haven't played 'Star Ocean: The Second Story R' yet but the battle gameplay looks like a fun alternative from the traditional turn based RPG's.
It’s super fun!!! Highly recommended!
Spiderman 2 is so good. I can't wait for Wolverine😊😊😊
Oooooo!!!
I agree totally with you regarding FF VII Rebirth...the amount of silly mini games was exagerated, but aside from that was a great game
Totally! It’s not a perfect game but pretty close!
My favorite game of 2024 is one I finished in 2025 (last night lol): Metaphor ReFantazio
I’m a lifelong RPG fan and it is the best one I’ve ever played (more than any DQ, FF, or Persona)
Also loved Astro Bot, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Stellar Blade, Balatro, 1000xRESIST, Silent Hill 2, FFVII Rebirth, LAD Infinite Wealth, Indiana Jones, Prince of Persia, and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom 😊
Good picks there! I couldn’t get into Metaphor so I’m bummed but that’s okay!
Hey Femtrooper have heard of this game called Oath in Felghana?
Of course! I need to play a few of the Ys games I already own first before I give it a try!

Definitely! It’s a great story!!!
Balatro was the only game that took my soul in 2024 lol
others include:
Eastward (very Earthbound inspired)
Indika
Dredge
Plague Tale series
Signalis
Haha nice!!!
Don't know about last year but..this year will definitely start with Y's X Nordics in my top 10......for now 😊
Nice!!!
I love my JRPGs, however my favourite game of all time is Shenmue 1 and 2, have you played them? they originally came out on the Dreamcast and then on Xbox, but now available on PS4, couldn't recommend them enough
I have the remasters but haven’t played them yet! One day I need to try them!

Omgggg that boss was BRUTAL! I’m going to get DKCR this week!
Hi FemTrooper You Should Try To Play A Physical Release Of Disney DreamValley And Disney Epic Mickey For Ps5 In The Future
I probably beat like 6 games last year 😂. I'm slow, but some of the games were huge though (like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom).
That’s great then!
Are you Canadian, you say Mario funny 😂
Sure am! It’s 50/50 here haha, I know I say it wrong but it’s too forced to change now. I just don’t care.
@ not saying you said it wrong but I notice Canadians all say it the same way. Just thought it was funny
Metaphor Rephantazio is my # 1…😁
Nice!!! I couldn’t get into it so I’m kinda bummed!
Kaze is a very cool idea... however, WAY too hard. Im a vetran of platformers and done all DK games but this game was just annoyingly hard. Rage quite and sold it. Shame!

I really hope mario rpg was successful enough to warrent a true sequel. I havent beat it yet due to so may games coming out.
Totally understandable! I have soooo many games I still haven’t tried!
