This is quite special for me to watch. This is the guy that sampled my choir song "Psalms 121" to create "The Success" on Wale's current CD "The Album About Nothing". Because this song samples a gospel song, it's looking at exactly how he created "The Success" as well. WOW!!!
sampling is an art form. just like photography. you don't tell the photographer that he stole the scene. there's angles lighting composition etc. just like sampling there's eqing, chopping, looping, stretching, filtering, processing, etc.
Its more like a photographer taking a picture of someone else's painting. Its a reworking of someone else's art to make new art. If its done correctly, then its great. If its done poorly, then its just ripping off someone else's art.
Bullshit! Sampling is sampling. Making your own melodies.. Now that's art! Playing the guitar, playing the keyboard, recording your own vocals and backup vocals, Working on the structure of the track, mixing, and mastering. To create something out of nothing...That's art. You wanna to be called a melody maker...than BE a melody maker
I immediately have Dre the credit for this...wow. I was wrong..this beat and those cymbals...crashing like that...just a perfect blend...then each artist added another instrument with the bars.....👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🏆🏆
The Simplicity of the set up makes it even more magical no plugins no in the box feeling all-natural god-given talent can be taught gem just magical. thank you
its like when some prod. use that tape saturation to" warm up" the track. Those machines by todays standards are primitive. But they sorta give sounds that analog feeling. Depends on what personality you would like your song to take on. I think in this case I think it encompasses the passion of the song. Keep grindin' RGomez . Sincerely Darrin Cox.
Jake is one of the few Cats out here that has progression in his beats. It’s not just some repetitive stuff. and it sounds like an actual human behind his funky beats. Real talk!
I love his back stories... He is so easy to listen to. So humble and relatable. He is repping Seattle in every video - Mariners top, Huskies hat, Gary Payton poster, Rainier sticker on the ASR... I love it.
Great I love making of videos from great producers. Jake One is a wonderful producer. Not just because of the "mainstream" Rick Ross song. If you like this beat you should listen to some of the "underground" sounds he did. Big Twins, Evidence etc.
Word he does, I wanna get my producing skill up there hopefully by the end of my senior year of college, I'm a senior in highschool now, and I'll be going to either Virginia State or UDMercy this fall
I remember the moment that Flex played it on the radio. He dropped about 50 bombshells on it for an hour straight it felt like. Jake is right. The song is just so huge!
I just got back from work , feeling all tired and shit, went into my little bedroom studio and thought yea why not make a beat, but just before i started i typed in making a beat just for the heck of it and i clicked on your video. My life changed after that. Thank you Snare Jordan. You are Hiphop
Damn this cat still using a Digi 002 as his interface which trips me out . I would have thought he would have at least a Digi 192 or Apogee 16X converters. Talent>Equipment

It's now than 6 sounds. You have to count all the sounds that are layered in that sample. The sample was produced on a big console back in the day in a big studio. That's why it sounds so fat.
@@Thisiskaerson being able to break a sample into so many pieces with ease vs manually searching for the sound you like is great .. but depends on the person I guess
This track production is simply phenomenal. Dre gives you that “Compton” vibe and sets the tone. Jay-Z then, damn… All his career go through your mind during his part.
still play this one to this day very solid song phatt and hard cant get over how dre promoted his headphone in this one. use to see dre back in the day at eve after dark there were other that rep the hub city eqyptian prince & rap a matic. you did a great job jake salute brother like the fack that use use that ensoniq asr 10. great gear never die's in the hands of some one that can use it...
Me and a homeboy were hanging out one night and we said that Kendrick or Nas should've got this beat. Then come to find out that Kendrick had the beat first. Wow! I'm with you homie.
Sometimes rappers just can't get into it believe it or not its not that easy to get on a track and make it a hit, you have to have the elements "verses/hooks/bridges" etc and some rappers just can't find the fit. Drop the World was Eminems before he gave it to wayne.
@@ethrez Dre raps on other producer’s beats more than you think, DJ Khalil, Jake One, Bink!, Rick Rock, Dem Jointz to name a few. One thing’s for sure tho Dre always mixes whatever he raps on.

Yo Jake you really inspire me man. I wanna make it like you not so I can be famous or anything but so I can be like you... have my hobby as my job all I want to do is make music all day everyday
Awesome insight given here into the making of another Jake One hit!!! and btw Max's last name is MacVeety (the one who played the drums on the G Koop replay)...

Warren Lankford isn't it an amazing process to watch? Thanks for the beautiful music man
Can I sample your stuff too?
@@johndough7485 thank you for your inquiry. Have you seen Jake One's video about my song?
@@warrenlankford5933 I just watched. Dope song. Awesome of ya to clear the sample too.
I just love how Jake One manages to do the most out of the minimum Number of Sounds. His beats sound so big without having 1000 sounds in them.
AMEN. less is more. jake on the god.
plus...he's so humble. A true gifted artist.
Pitus Beatz
I like music guy but jeez. Ur erection is showing.
***** DOnt forget that the sample accounts for 5 instruments in itself. No knock on jake though...
The art of minimalism. . .
This beat is so fucking cold. It’s crazy how humans can make such beautiful art.

Jake One never fails to amaze me. Def a producer that I respect whole hearty for sharing steps, technique, and structure (if you watch closely).
One of the most legendary sounding beats of this decade. Definitely heard some sort of Just Blaze influence. Amazing track

That was so crazy how he played the bass against the piano sample like that. True skills
new studio looks great man, your an inspiration to all us producers.
It's nice to know who is truly behind the beats. I like videos like these...
This beat was one of the hardest on the album 🔥
It's a legendary beat, listened to that song a million times!
I love that song, I had no idea he did that song, I thought Dre did it, this dude got talent
That ASR10 STILL IS DOPE.Love that 16bit sound
I dont understand when people say "I love the 16bit sound" (no pun intended). I make beatz, and I'm trying to figure out the difference. any idea?

Why should he when he properly has hundreds if no thousands of beats this good or better sitting on his laptop??

This whole time I thought Dre produced this...
This is why they need to list the producer next to the artist when they release songs... The producer is the main reason the song is what it is
Sounds a lot like a dre beat. And dre doesnt often rap on beats he didnt produce himself, so you had all the reasons to think that.
