I'm losing my fucking MIIIIND! The gate won't ROTATE to the FRONT or BACK! ONLY THE SIDES! So SICK of this problem. Update: Omg it wouldn let me because of the walls. Mind explosion for such a small reason. Sigh. Oh well.
As a personal castle enthusiast trying to engineer the most frustrating as possible base for the new Purge, I recommend researching historical castles to incorporate actual castle engineering into anyone's own castles, towers, and other such defensive buildings, as walls can only provide so much protection. Location is extremely important as well. These walls would be even more amazing in certain elevated locations. I don't know if it's alright to recommend content outside of the game, but David Macaulay has a documentary called Castle based on his book that deep-dives into the extreme engineering and defensive power of castle engineering. I think it would complement these build videos extremely well!
Impressive builds as always @Eradicati0n ! I'd like to see some perimeter wall designs that utilize more of a pillar and ceiling design (versus a solid wall), so your ranged thralls can attack approaching hostiles, but players can still pass through the area relatively unobstructed. I've utilized exterior walls for years that would only be a solid piece every 5th or 6th square, and the rest of it would be ceiling pieces, as a kind of cat-walk for both thralls and players.
Good looking designs but from what i have seen on other channels and i my game is that archers don't shoot targets that are more than 2 tile below them. The first design can battle this by having doorframes between the buttresses, where you then can place the archers/spearmen to fight.
@@jacobjamison6827 It was during Angaar's 3.0 Playtrough that he had to lower the archers positions down because they where not shooting anything. iirc someone in the comment section mentioned the 2 tile (or 2 and a half) limit. Episode 20 - 22 or so
I love all your builds. More builds on defensive structures would be great. Especially when building archer towers. Archers tend to run all over the place.
I'm sure you're already working on it, but we NEED a dedicated hoard/treasure vault design. Perhaps if there is a location where one could build the base above an enclosed natural pit, and use the secret entrance craftable to access it from there?
Great Video my man', corner towers on walls large enough for trebuchets would be cool. Also more kill zone trap like areas. Btw how do you place the oil cauldrons for defense, do they need a special build piece like the hatch to work?
Thanks Jacob! Kill zones are a good idea, though there are probably more experienced PvE players than me that could work them into these designs. The cauldrons need a Crenelated Wall to attach to :)

In creative i painstakingly remade the theodosian walls aka walls of constantinople look them up im sure i can pull it off in survival with help and patience
There is a bug in game right now where people have lost bases, benches etc, and everyone I spoke to all lost items off the nemedian foundations, I can confirm this as 100% as all my outposts was fine apart from the nemedian, everything was gone.

@@Hazard33 I see you already found a solution 😂 Yeah best practice is always to put the gate first, so other stuff around it can't make it misbehave

I highly endorse this, real-world castles are an amazing case study of how to make a base even harder to attack when on the correct terrain

I am indeed already working on some ideas! I like the idea of building the treasure hoard into a natural pit though, I'll see what I can do with that

Is there a video for the house in the intro, it looks great.
Pillars and walls give no protection to anything and the archer thrall won't be able to shoot on any of those designs.
How do you put WALL behind door frame???? For me it always swaps between the two
