I get a ridiculous sense of joy watching the younger generation enjoy the music I grew up loving. The look of just happiness when the guitars kicked in cant be faked.

Just discovered your reactions and Loving your honesty and appreciation for my generation growing up on the 70's and 80's!! Another excellent group with a city name is "Chicago" 24 or 6 to 4 is the jam live!!!!❤Hi from Detroit!!
Trivia: I grew up in Topeka, Kansas. The rock group Kansas used to play at some of our dances/proms at Topeka West High School. Phil Ehart, the drummer, and I had the same girl friend in high school. Used to go over to Rich Williams' house and hang out in high school Rich is the lead guitarist. Both are very talented musicians and their success enabled them to live a nice life in Atlanta. Kerry Livgren is the only member who still makes his home in the Topeka area (Shawnee County). I was lucky enough to leave Kansas by being accepted at the University of Southern California film school in LA and I'm still producing and directing movies, but I haven' seen Rich since high school. I did run into Phil by happenstance while we were both vacationing on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in the mid 80's. Their songs are timeless and happy that you appreciate them on behalf of your generation.
It is a song about self realization and a young man’s journey of self discovery, purpose, and meaning in a chaotic world. Yes. Very spiritual. Glad you liked it!

Another city famous band is Chicago. Kansas is a state.😁Enjoying your reactions. Saw Kansas and Boston in Detroit years ago at their peak. Late 70s. Great performances.
🎉🎉🎉Great to see you and many in your generation keeping the tradition and styles of the 60's and 70's with a Hip-Hop twist. "Carry on my wayward son!" There will be Peace when you and your generation are done! 🎉🎉 Maybe not in my lifetime....but THERE WILL BE PEACE IN YOURS! Great reaction!🎉🎉🎉
Kansas City woman here. I'm so old Kansas played my boyfriend's High School prom. My other friend went to school with Robby Steinhardt (the guy with the crazy red hair). It was a good time to be young, no regrets.
ELO - Showdown Pink Floyd - Time The Doors - The End Led Zeppelin - Rock n Roll Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation Foghat - Slow Ride Roy Clark - on the Odd Couple Allman Brothers - whipping post The Animals - House of the Rising Sun The Cars - Moving in Stereo
This is the studio album version synched (poorly) to playing footage. Keyboardist John Elefante is shown wailing on the congas but you don't hear that whatsoever on the recording. Same for the tambourine. He was also given no credits for any percussion work on the album, only drummer Phil Ehart was. Great, great song with an inspiratioal message none the less. Kansas was an awesome band. I was 18 when Leftoverture was released in 76 and have heard this song hundreds of time since. Still loving it as much as the first time I listened it. Excellent to see young bloods today rediscovering the musical treasures we were so fortunate to enjoy back in the day. Keep on rockin y'all
Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks Colorado(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way with roughly $1 a gallon for gas on bikes. Hell yeah.😎😎 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. "Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other awesome songs from that era 45 years ago. They're still played on classic rock radio. "Surely Heaven waits for you"😇😇😇😇😇😇😇 The best thing about watching these reviews is how people react when it keeps getting better and better.🤩🤩🤩🤩
Speaking of all of the different instruments this band brings, the vocalist with the tamborine was a classically-trained violinist. This is one of the few songs they recorded where his violin isn't included in the mix. More "Kansas" suggestions: "Song for America", "Dust in the Wind", "Miracles Out of Nowhere", and "Icarus - Borne On Wings of Steel".
This old fart has been rippin' it up for over 50 years and it was magic then and it still is. Welcome to real live music played and sung by human beings.
Would be nice if everyone could hear this when they are young. I was lucky to be the right age at the same time this was new, but everyone can get lucky with internet memory. The chorus can carry you through an entire lifetime..
After listening to this you have to watch the show "Supernatural", which used this song in it's 15 season run. There's a high school musical version in a later episode.
Bands with city names? How about some Canadian ones? How about "Chilliwack", named for Chilliwack, BC.? Check out their song, "Fly At Night" (do the studio version). Their vocals are amazing, as you will hear in that song.
Another classic. Kansas has their own unique sound. I'm going to keep asking for Opeth Porcelain Heart. Unlike anything you've ever heard. Get the Pink Floyd, Opeth, NF fans watching your reactions and you will build up to 100K in no time.
This is the theme song for the Supernatural series. Check it out lots of good music in the series. Two hunters from Lawrence Kansas that come from a line of hunters. Ghosts, Vampires, Skinwalkers, the Devil, Grim Reaper and even God.

This is a well-done studio version over concert footage, but it does show the energy of the band. Maybe my favorite Kansas song.
