@bethmahadocon1887 yep. I was in hospital weekly by age 17 crippled with abdominal pain. Unable to walk, get out of bed, go to college or do any typical teenager things. The amount of times I was sent home with paracetamol and told that girls just have tummy pain some times. Even after years of this pain and being practically bed-ridden for years it was suggested every time I went in that it was Ovulation pain and basically I was just pathetic. They would laugh at me and tell me people don't scream like this during labour but still insist I wasn't in much pain. Can confirm after giving birth that labour wasn't as painful or hard to cope with because I knew what was happening and that it would end. I was still told I was pathetic during labour too! The NHS (and the entire world it seems) has very little respect for women.
Maybe I’ve just watched way too much true crime. But after the death threat and the issues with the neighbours once Peggy’s initial symptoms were described - poisoning was what came to mind. "They told her it was all psychological and in her head. Could you imagine being told that by medical profecionals?" Yes. Fibromyalgia and a crap-ton of other chronic ilnesses don't show on tests, so at some point doctors just tell you're most likely just depress and all your symptoms are all psychosomathic. 'Been told that a couple of times, and yes it does drives you mental.
I’ve had that conversation too. It’s infuriating. A spine specialist I was seeing after a car accident FINALLY explained to me what I had been dealing with for years was fibromyalgia. It came up in a random conversation with her while discussing symptoms about my spine injury and I had those specific symptoms before the accident. So now I have treatment for a disease I had suffered with for decades that other doctors had suggested was either in my mind or stress.
I got sciatica when I was 15 and all the doctors I talked to about my back pain said I couldn’t be in that much pain because I “was too young”. I had to see a nerve specialist to finally get diagnosed when I was 16. Can’t stand medical professionals sometimes.
I’m going through having crazy violent neighbors just like this, but without the poison. They’re also well respected in the town and have been getting off of any charges we bring against them. I have restraining orders on them but they constantly break it, by screaming at me yelling in my face, blocking me from leaving my home, false police reports on me. It’s insane. I’m getting a private investigator to collect the evidence of them stalking, assault, and harassing me. Hopefully something will be done soon, they’ve even gotten to the point of harassing my elderly grandparents by also screaming in their faces and making false reports on trespassing, even though they’re the ones actually trespassing on our land. Watching this puts into perspective on how crazy some neighbors will be, I’ll have to be more careful until the police actually look into them.
Im so sorry for you and your grandparents. It must be hell living next to a whole family of Karens. I do hope you find a way to get away from them. That kind of abuse can harm your self esteem. Good luck to you and your family.

I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. It’s bad in the US so I couldn’t imagine how much worst it could be there especially when they believe in rape to change someone’s sexual orientation. That’s just so messed up!
Things are bad in New Zealand, lots of pedos and weirdos, but from what I understand it's worse in South Africa. A freind of mine got drugged and gang raped in cape town
This case is absolutely insane! I will never understand how someone can go from not liking their neighbors to murdering them! Fantastic job telling the story as always, Eleanor!
For real! I don't like kids and I work nights, so I have to sleep during the day. I had neighbors with really rambunctious boys and honestly, I couldn't even be bothered enough to pay them any mind. They ain't just gonna stop being kids cause I said so 😆 Being upset and complaining all the time just takes too much effort... muchless planing a murder. MENSA people are really annoying in general. High IQ just means you're good at passing a specific test, not that you're actually smarter than everyone else, but they like to be seen as clever. George writing his own murder for a murder mystery party and still expect to get away with it is the level of arrogance I'd expect from them. The death penalty does come with several automatic appeals and takes a very long time to carry out in general, even if the defendant doesn't keep filing their own appeals.
There are a lot of different IQ tests, but I see your point. IQ tests essentially measure your ability to learn, reason, and make connections, which is generally the definition of intelligence. But yes, Mensans are rather arrogant. Source: I am a member of Mensa lol.
@@ek3884 Yeah, I know there are several different IQ tests and what they're meant to measure. However, all of them have flaws, they can be studied for and improved upon, so I don't think they measure innate intelligence so much as a set of skills.

Honestly i think it was more of a kinky thing. I mean when the police stormed their new house he was wearing womens underwear which is.. interesting. But that’s just my thought
I heard this story before on another podcast and on true crime doc shows but it's just worth listening to again. The fact that someone would just leave soda for them and not leave a note is strange, but to be not even suspicious about the "gift" is CRAZY!!! After all that feuding with the neighbors they should have been wary but who would think they would be poisoned.
Maybe the boys brought it in? Being young they may not be as cautious and once the soda was inside the house the parents may have thought that the boys had just purchased some soda themselves, decided to try coke for a change and not have asked about it.
"could you imagine a medical professional saying that to you" *laughs in chronic illness* Yes. I was misdiagnosed a psycho somatic disorder for 6 years. Turns out I have migraines that mimic strokes, put you at higher risk of stroke, and we think I was in a coma while I was misdiagnosed. It's called hemipelagic migraines and I have them weekly now.
@@chaska8144 They're either genetic or caused by my genetic disorders. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with lifestyle though making certain changes do help. Yes! I have been there where doctors do a bunch of tests and then tell you, "It's all in your head." I waited 6 weeks with horrible digestive issues to see a "specialist" who then literally mocked me. I got very emotional - to which she then mocked me even more. When I responded with an angry tone back at her (not swearing or out of control in any way) She then threatened to make a bigger deal of it by calling security. I know there are great doctors and nurses out there, but she was cruel. This was 21 years ago. But It's so vivid. Not being believed while in the midst of suffering makes you feel so helpless. I did eventually get help. But I will never forget her heartlessness and cruelty.
Why did it take doctors so long to figure out it was poison, I was screaming poison at my screen as soon as the symptoms were listed. Even if you don’t know which poison it is, it’s so clear it’s poison nonetheless.
Peggy was my great aunt It took the Dr so long cause every test ran and ect came up with no answers. Just so happened there was a visiting Dr on Peggy's floor and over heard others Dr talking and he offered his help. Thank goodness he did cause we would have lost them all. Check out the book Poison minds by Jeff Goode it explains more and in better details
It’s because intentional poisoning is rare. While the other people in the comments are right, there’s definitely medical misogyny and mediocrity involved, there’s also the fact that you’re watching a video about a murder. You’re expecting to hear about a murder, so when you hear the symptoms, your first thought is not “what’s the likeliest cause of this” but rather “how does this connect to homicide”. Doctors are usually taught to pick the most likely option, and usually their choice is unconsciously biased towards the things they’re more familiar with. These doctors would have been trained to identify common medical emergencies, and thallium poisoning (in a time when thallium was no longer available to the general public) is not a common medical emergency. (Not trying to say the doctors were blameless!! Just trying to provide some additional context.)
@@gretablackwell495 You’re right and I totally understand, but as a doctor it is literally your duty to find out what is wrong with someone when they come to you with symptoms instead of saying “You look fine on all my tests so you should be fine”. When you can’t figure out what it could be, you go back to the textbooks to see if there is anything at all you could have missed. And the knowledge was there, because they did find out it was poisoning before having found the actual thallium. If only they had thought of poisoning on the first hospital visit (and it didn’t even have to be thallium, if they suspected poisoning of any kind it would have been stupid to send her home, the place where she most likely ingested the poison) maybe no one had to die.

it kind of boggles my mind that in the beginning, the neighbors they regularly argued with never came up as ppl who didnt like them. how did the family and others believe there was really no one they didnt get along with?? i understand them not thinking they could commit a crime like this over it, but still...
From what my great grandmother, Peggy's sister, told me, they did mention it, but it just didn't seem like something that would escalate so horribly. I never got to meet Peggy bc she was killed before I was born, but I truly believe they didn't think George would ever go that far. Luckily, law enforcement didn't drop the ball on this one & didn't stop until they solved it!
Judging by the fact it doesn't seem they changed anything after they received complaints from their neighbours, I think they just saw it as no big deal, so therefore would not even think about them.
My doctors said my gall bladder pain was in my head, I had so much pain but it was in my stomach and not my back which is where the pain normally is. I’ve watched a different channel cover this case as well. George thought he was so smart that he would never be caught. His Mensa brain was his fall down.
I was thinking that with just how narcissistic and sadistic he seems, maybe the little “dungeon” rooms were used by George (and his wife too, possibly) to keep the random hitchhikers/strangers in once he spiked them with LSD like he loves to do, so he could just sit there and watch them/get pleasure from the whole ordeal… it would make sense that he would make the “dungeons”/rooms sound-proof and also have the restraints that way nobody else could hear or would even know while it’s going on. Perhaps just one of the strange and sick ways he could add his own little “spice” to the “experience.” Then maybe after all of it was over he’d either like threaten the person to never tell a soul, but I think he’d most likely give them something ELSE that would then make them forget the entire thing afterwards. With how sneaky and twisted he is none of that would surprise me whatsoever if that’s how he went about doing that whole process. Idk, does anyone else think this could be the case with the rooms? I just kind of put two and two together as soon as Ellie mentioned the unwilling LSD victims then described those rooms that are unanswered for… and the reason none of those people have ever gone to the police is because 1) he most likely gave them shit to forget it all, and 2) they’re just random hitchhikers that George and his wife would pick up, dose, then never see again in their lifetime… Just something that could be a possibility with that part of the story, maybe? But brava, Eleanor! Another great video/case, as always. Keep up the great work! 😚🙌

13:26 wow, doctors really needed two teenage boys with the exact same symptoms before they listened to a woman
Right??
As a woman I am not surprised. You’d be amazed at the amount of times we’re told stress, “in our head” or hormones are the cause of our health issues.

Tbh the unhinged nasty behaviour that some ppl are capable of has to be considered. I feel so bad for Peggy and her family.
Omg I thought I was the only one. That immediately popped into my head, ESPECIALLY WITH THE RECENT DEATH THREAT(S)!!!
When she was going 'but no one hates us enough!' I was like 'GURL, PLEASE!'
i think that was obvious
Right! I was thinking the same thing. I wouldve reported the note AND the way the neighboor lady went "you wont get away with this". Like dont play with this stuff. Call me paranoid 🤷
first thing i thought when peggy’s symptoms were described was poison in the water tank, i’m only 20 minutes in so idk yet lol
The fact that he exposed his own crime speaks to who he is 😭. Thank you Eleanor for another video! Peggy’s death is such a tragedy…I hope her family has been able to find the peace they deserve.

Damn your neighbors are methed up 😂😂 but yeah fr be careful people are crazy
Im so sorry for you and your grandparents. It must be hell living next to a whole family of Karens. I do hope you find a way to get away from them. That kind of abuse can harm your self esteem. Good luck to you and your family.

Like, who cares? They're kids. That's what they do. They ain't just gonna stop being kids cause I said so 😆

George has no more appeals left he has already used them
There are a lot of different IQ tests, but I see your point.

They really need to investigate those dungeons. The second one especially is disturbing since there was no handle on the inside so they definitely did not use it for themselves or else they wouldn't have been able to get out

Are we sure he wasn't a serial killer 😭😭😭
HELLO?? he poisoned his "annoying" neighbors but was planning to move out anyway? wtf??
There's no way the dungeons in their house was never used to some victims. His wife was also said to be with him when they spike people with LSD for "entertainment". Shame to be someone as smart as them but turned out to be horrible people.
The second you started talking about thalium poisoning I immediately started thinking about Graham Young (the Teacup Poisoner), and I was like, yikes!
the amount of time and effort that goes into these videos is amazing!! i always get so excited when eleanor posts !!

I have severe body pain and a shitload of other symptoms I was told was psychosomatic, it's EDS most likely hEDS
@@sn0tbrain I also have hEDS that was diagnosed around the same time as the hemiplegic migraines 🤣
how do you get these illnesses, were there problems in your lifestyle, perhaps lack of sleep and exercise?
@@chaska8144 They're either genetic or caused by my genetic disorders. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with lifestyle though making certain changes do help. I have a rare form of genetic migraines called hemiplegic migraines and they mimic strokes. They've caused permanent symptoms like seizures, ataxia, and poor coordination. I also have a genetic disorder called hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome. My body produces shitty collagen and collagen is the glue that holds your body together. Since it affects the whole body it has a lot of comorbidities and I have a few along with the joint pain and dislocation. hEDS is a degenerative disease that I'll have to manage the rest of my life.

If George was planning on moving away, then why bother poisoning your neighbors in the first place?? Just move away!
George thought everyone was below him and too stupid to catch him.
Peggy was my aunt
He also ran a meth lab so he thought he was untouchable - he'd Other'd himself loooong ago. The hints of his sadism are all over the place, on top of him thinking he's too smart to get caught. He literally just thought he could do it and get away with it. For us it's very normal to say 'just move away dumbass' but these types of people believe they're above it and way more important. The family never 'took them seriously' and that's the kind of thing that can be seen as an insult. THEY didn't move away when he wanted them to. So THEY had to pay. It's all very stupid on George's part because it just shows how little control he has/how insecure he really is. Making his whole Mensa thing his whole personality too, people aren't people to him. They're below him or experiments. And hilariously that arrogance got him.
I’m still shook at how all the signs pointed to him and he kept denying it when the police were questioning him. Dude didn’t even have a job and they watched him. That’s insane
As soon as you mentioned “corrective rape” I remembered how scary it is to be queer, I’m a non-binary lesbian and it just terrifies me someone will do that to someone like me. Luckily I live in Australia so that’s a good thing but not all of Australia is good too, same goes for every place in the world…
George: " i have an extremely high IQ, far smarter than everyone else
Also George: immediately incriminates himself saying the stupidest thing when first questioned
us: "hahahahaha"
Even if you don’t know which poison it is, it’s so clear it’s poison nonetheless.
i thought this too.
because womens health is never taken seriously
Peggy was my great aunt
It took the Dr so long cause every test ran and ect came up with no answers.
Just so happened there was a visiting Dr on Peggy's floor and over heard others Dr talking and he offered his help.
Thank goodness he did cause we would have lost them all.
Check out the book
Poison minds by Jeff Goode
it explains more and in better details
You make my day so much better when you post! I click as soon as I can. I also want to say that I’ve loved watching you get more comfortable with yourself you can really see your confidence grow and it’s inspiring!!
it kind of boggles my mind that in the beginning, the neighbors they regularly argued with never came up as ppl who didnt like them. how did the family and others believe there was really no one they didnt get along with?? i understand them not thinking they could commit a crime like this over it, but still...
It went away but yrs latter it came back worse and same issue it wasn’t until I was green and so sick they took it seriously and found out my gall bladder was blocked

I just kind of put two and two together as soon as Ellie mentioned the unwilling LSD victims then described those rooms that are unanswered for… and the reason none of those people have ever gone to the police is because 1) he most likely gave them shit to forget it all, and 2) they’re just random hitchhikers that George and his wife would pick up, dose, then never see again in their lifetime…
Just something that could be a possibility with that part of the story, maybe?
But brava, Eleanor! Another great video/case, as always. Keep up the great work! 😚🙌
I'm actually surprised that the evidence in the home wasn't questioned more. How did they prevent the assumption that the thallium was planted there? Especially if his wife was saying that he was framed.
What a treat to have another video! Sooner than I expected!
So he poisoned them….just to move…
I remember hearing about this case!
Granted, living next to that family must’ve been hell on earth, because as I’ve heard it, they were a bunch of purposely obnoxious, loud hillbillies; however, this dude was an unhinged LOON! 😳
I love watching Eleanors veiws go up like yass queen educate the masses!
