Hi, I'm Tom from Cotswold Outdoor
in Harrogate, and today I'm really excited
to be talking to you
about the men's Arc'teryx Atom LT hoodie.
First of all, the company
is saving a lot of money on tonight
because this is my jacket.
I've owned it for a while
now, and I really love it.
I've gone for a little bit
of a looser size
so I can use it for different things,
whether it's keeping me warm at the crag
between actual climbs
or for day to day activities,
because it is a very nice finish.
It's just a cracking jacket.
One of my favorite features about it,
as well as nice hand warmer pockets
and the stretch paneling
to take account of different layers
that you might be wearing
and still staying warm is the fact that
even though it's quite a minimalist hood,
it's actually got adjustment on it,
wait. Whether I'm stood at a train station
waiting for the red eye,
because that's what they say in the city
or whether I'm actually, wait,
whether I'm trying to stay away
from the midges or if it's mega cold
and I'm waiting for my turn to climb,
this hood is a fantastic fit.
You even get a nice internal pocket
for your essentials.
And one of my favorite things is the cuff.
The cuffs can be pulled up
if you are wanting to get rid of some
heat pretty quickly.
And it also means
it's not getting stuck on and under your
watch the whole time. Nice watch.
Honestly, these cuffs are amazing.
Look at the attention to detail on there.
Gives you a more
flexible part in the middle.
So when you are getting
stuff over, oh, it's perfect.
That was my shoe by the way.
For a minimalist jacket.
It's still got hem adjustment too
so you can really lock in that heat.
And you can buy one at Cotswold Outdoor,
but you can't buy this one
because it is mine. Seriously.

Such a cool and pleasant review. I would catch a pint with this dude.
I would love a pint W, and we would both look so cool in our Arc'teryx jackets 😁
Favorite all around jacket I’ve ever owned, nice review mate
Hi, according to the size guide I’m an M but I’m going to be wearing it on top of a suit becuase I’m using it for going to school. Do you reckon I size up to an L?
Hugely informative. Have you got the SL? Keep up the great work!
Thanks BMD, that's great to hear! I don't have the SL, but we are supposed to be stocking it this summer. My mate has one and he loves it as a layering piece as it has no insulation in the back. However, for me this isn't warm enough as an insulation piece and I think I would get too hot using it as a mid-layer! Just call me Goldilocks… Tom
What size are you wearing ? and whats ur height weight ? Thank you.
Love this review; maybe a silly question but is the jacket suitable for skiing?
Debbie - Good question! I used mine as a midlayer skiing in Canada when it was -20, with my waterproof jacket over the top of everything for protection. The face fabric on the Atom is light but durable so unless you're unlucky you'll probably get away with it as a top layer in milder conditions, but most people would want the piece of mind of a tough shell where all those sharp edges are flying around! Thanks, Tom
I use it in Quebec -2 to -8 (without wind) wearing nothing but a T-shirt below (I’m Mexican so not used to -0 temps and it keeps me warm)
Is that C or F?
What size is it Tom? And what are your measurements if you don’t mind me asking?
I am usually either a large or XL in most jackets. I am 6ft tall, 34" waist and have a bit of a gut (which I'm working on). Also important to take into account what activity the jacket will be worn for and over/under which layers. I.e. My Patagonia Nano Air is large as I wear it predominantly as a midlayer, whereas my Arc'teryx Atom LT is XL so I can chuck it on over everything and still have range of movement for climbing/walking. Cheers, Tom.
Cotswold Outdoor thanks.👍🏻
Arc'teryx is clearly better than every other Outdoor clothing company on the block. When people see the arc'teryx logo in public they instantly really realize that you are superior to them in your clothing choice.
Not just clothing choice 😎 Thanks, Tom
is it waterproof?
Hi Huba, these types of jackets aren't typically waterproof. This makes them more versatile as part of a layering system and avoids you having to carry a second uninsulated waterproof jacket. From experience I can tell you that the face fabric is very wind resistant, and both the face fabric and insulation are incredibly water resistant! Not being waterproof also makes the jacket more breathable, lighter and compressible for carrying up the mountain. It's a win, win, win for me! Cheers, Tom.

Sure, it was your shoe 😂
