Lost my old man in the south tower - miss him so much. This song, the whole album was a catalyst for me to respond well. Would so love to sing this with Bruce.
I WAS THERE AT SANT JORDI THAT MAGICAL NIGHT. I was one the lucky Barcelona fans who saw Bruce OPEN HIS CHEST AND PUT HIS HEART OUT on the stage that night. This has been THE MOST BREATH TAKING SHOW I've ever lived. INFINITE THANKS to him, but also to Stevie, Clarence, Patti, Danny, Max, Nils, Roy, Garry and Soozie FOR GIVING IT ALL OUT THAT NIGHT and for making the young 29er I was then to live the joy of feeling THE LONGEST EXTASIS MOMENT IN MY LIFE. Bruce's first words "Can't see nothin' in front of me" MADE GOOSEBUMPS APPEAR ON MY SKIN, but his and the whole band's TRULY-FROM-THE-HEART PERFORMANCE made me feel them FOR 6 CONSECUTIVE SONGS (around half an hour) till the "party" began with "Waitin' On a Sunny Day". That night was MAGICAL, UNBEATABLE, UNFORGETTABLE. Undoubtedly, THE BEST SHOW OF THESE MONSTERS EVER. (I can't avoid my tears when watching this video .. Just feeling that joy back again)
When this virus thing is over, Springsteen better tour as I will move heaven and earth to see him, the joy the band gives in playing and the joy of the crowd.
yeah, seeing him on TH-cam just gets me going, I need to see this man live once again. I don't care where I have to go to see him. Nothing like a BOSS concert.
New album coming out October 23!! As soon as I found out I sent a message to my daughter that it also means a tour! I hope the virus is at bay so he can tour because seeing him live is always the happiest time of my life. My children were little when The Rising came out and I dragged them all over the country for two years so we could see as many concerts as possible.I want to do that again now that they are adults.
@Mike B The Stones were still touring when this thing broke out in the US. That’s sort of my reference point for how old you can be and still tour. We took our whole family to see him (kids and parents!) when he announced the Summer Stadium Tour in 2003 and we went to NYC so we could see some of the 10 dates they played at the Meadowlands. In between concerts we drove down the shore and stayed in Asbury Park. We named the trip BruceTrek. I have seen him a lot of times in other places, but playing in front of his “home crowd” was amazing. And, Vinnie Lopez came out and played “Spirit in the Night” with him one night. I hope we all get the chance to do it again!
Maybe because the fans are really close to the band. No 20 meters space between stagebarriers and stage. Stage isn't 20 meters high and offcourse a smaller venue with only (die-hard) fans. I have no idea but no golden area. I think music industry should rethink about this and get fans closer to band to get them more involved in the concerts. Just my thoughts about it maybe one of the reasons Bruce is one of the few who wants to get closer to his fans instead of playing on a stage 20 meters further away and 20 meters higher. Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and Bruce they really want to keep their fans close and it gives them a lot of energy. Also my opinion there is a big difference if an artist thinks he has to entertain people or he show his work and his knowledge to the people who loves them. When you entertain people you just aren't that passioned about your talent/work anymore (just the money). If you want to show the people your talent, your knowlede then it's passion. I think Bruce his last tour feels more about entertainment anymore. I saw a couple weeks ago John Fogerty and i didn't believe his songs anymore he's just greedy sing his songs and that's it. It is a whole different dynamic. Entertainment Passion it's whole different angle. Passion is Bob Dylan for me he just don't care about the music industry shit he's really passioned about music and wants to spread his work. The moment Dylan thinks he has to the to entertainment people I think he stops living. To return to Bruce you'll see this show is pure passion and that's what made him so big. Here he's just passioned about his work (Risin' album), album, e-street band.
So very sad that they feel this way about such a great song written with such humility and passion and it truly shows in this live performance. Feel sorry for those that don't see this. Long live the BOSS & The E Street Band

Amen to that. The greatest live show ever seen. We are all entitled to our opinion, well used to be 🤣, Bruce Springsteen has produced the greatest body of work in rock history. In a 1000 years people will ask who was he? The answer is to listen to Land of Hope and Dreams.

This song has *everything*. This song is everything, everything True about Life. LOVE this live version!! Thank you Bruce for making REAL American rock & roll that represents real Americans. Love you & the E Street Band. Thanks to you & Patti for keeping it real. God Bless y'all always. You totally earned being called The Boss, much Love always ♥️♥️♾️🕉️🔥🖖❤️🎵🎶🇺🇸
2:10 “There’s spirits above and behind me; faces gone, black eyes burning bright. May their precious blood forever bind me, Lord as I stand before your fiery light.”
I remember watching the highlights of the Boss’ concert 🎵 in Barcelona back in 2002, and a local CBS affiliate had broadcast an hour’s worth, starting with “The Rising”. The quality of the broadcast was as bad as a 10th generation VHS copy. But that had not diminished the energy, power and fury of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band with Soozie Tyrell on violin and back vocals. Then as now, I get chills and goosebumps from this song. The Boss bids fair to be the greatest singer, songwriter and musician this side of Bob Dylan. I am a conservative Republican, and I think Bruce Springsteen is fantastic. I like to see today’s rock stars do his marathon three-hour and four-hour concerts. They can’t do it. Springsteen beats them six ways to next Sunday. Just my humble opinion.

The song is very beautiful .... Bruce is the Best .... Come on up for the rising Come on up, lay your hands in mine Come on up for the rising Come on up for the rising tonight ...
Got back unexpectedly to this video again. Again can't watch it without tears ... I went there with Bea, my girl for 23 years and best mum on earth, who's now in heaven after fighting with cancer. That night and that performance will be part of my life (our lives) forever. Thanks Bruce, Stevie, Patti and all the band.
I was visiting my grandmother Mary Wiggins for the summer of 2001 and was in nearby Fort Greene, Brooklyn watching the Twin Towers burn from her old building 24 Monument Walk, as well as the bus stop right near the Brooklyn entrance of the Brooklyn- Queens Expressway. Watching those survivors walk over the Manhattan Bridge into Fort Greene covered in thick ash is a vision forever burned into my brain. Whoever has disliked this song has no soul.
The Best performers EVER! I love the energy that The Boss and the Band give out...Beautiful! ...and the way Patti is always looking at Bruce, the same intensity after so many years. with love from South Africa...
This track says so much, don’t listen if you dislike it. It makes no difference whoever says they don’t like this track. Bruce Springsteen is amazing ❤
Watching this performance of this song, what the song is about, coupled with the effort, emotions and quality of performance makes watching this like a spiritual experience for me. Tears run down my cheeks. Sheer perfection.
for me is this the best album of Bruce Springsteen. I will never forget this performance in Paris in 2002. It was complete silentness after this performance. 45000 people left quiet...
Don't worry, i think! Bruce says before Christmas, that he will take it easy this year. But hopefully we will be back to you soon, he says. So i bet it will be E Street time in 2020 :)
I hope you have the best concerts in Barcelona. Good music always be alive. Always The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Barcelona preparada para recibir a The Boss. The best music in town with Bruce Springsteen.
I love this song so much, been a fan of Bruce and The E Street since about 1975, and although The Rising was his response to the terrible events of 9/11 it also resonated with me as my wife died in 2002. And that sense of loss on the album / cd helped me so much. I played it a lot. It might be true, that Bruce stopped at a traffic light and the guy in the car next to him said ‘Bruce you have to make an album about what just happened.’ I don’t know if this is true but it would be lovely if it was, because it is a brilliant album.
Ah, this album, this concert. Very grateful, I've been searching my place for DVD1 of my copy for three days now. I can now calm down, and lure it with this!
This man 5:33 is not just an entertainer, he's an artist, a showman, a storyteller and a representation of something great in humanity. I had the amazing opportunity to see him live once. Just wow. Please come to Australia again Mr Springsteen.

@@lomac546 So am I, but the 4 years prior were a friggin nightmare. Party affiliation doesn't mean a damn thing..........they are all politicians!!!
Can't see nothin' in front of me
Can't see nothin' coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I've gone
How far I've gone, how high I've climbed
On my back's a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder a half mile line
Come on up for the rising
Com on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight
Left the house this morning
Bells ringing filled the air
Wearin' the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rollin' down here
Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight
Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li
Spirits above and behind me
Faces gone, black eyes burnin' bright
May their precious blood forever bind me
Lord as I stand before your fiery light
Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li
I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There's holy pictures of our children
Dancin' in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancin' on the end of the line
Sky of blackness and sorrow ( a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life)
Sky of glory and sadness ( a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear ( a dream of life)
Sky of memory and shadow ( a dream of life)
Your burnin' wind fills my arms tonight
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life ( a dream of life)
Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight
I wear the cross of my calling. Thank you Bruce for reminding me how important that is.

It's 23 years later and I can still remember the day as if it was yesterday.
One of the best rock and roll songs of all time. Certainly in the top 5.
That was absolutely savage. Best live version I have seen of that song.
One of the best albums Bruce has produced in his long musical career! I never get tired listening to this one! Way to go!
I was there! First row!! What a night! I made 2400 km by car, in 2 days (Lisbon-Barcelona+Barcelona-Lisbon) just to see the Boss of Rock!
A master!!!!
You saw the best live rock & roll there has ever been or is ever likely to be. I've experienced it, too, and *no one* comes close to Bruce.

That’s dedication !
@@lesleystorey3917 Ummm...... What?

Love The Rising!! Bruce brings emotion to a concert with his music like you've never seen!!!! Passion Compassion & Love!!!! Great tribute
Questa canzone racchiude tutta la sensibilità del nostro Bruce!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😘😘🎷♥️🎸🌟🎶💫

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight ...
Hi,
thanks for watching and commenting on my TH-cam channel God bless you 🙏, hope you don’t stop with your love and support💛 💯
Happy 19 years old to this masterpiece of album ❤
My absolute favorite song of Springsteen's and this performance was TNT!
Powerful when it first came out eighteen or nineteen years ago, just as unifying and inspiring now. Still great!
Amazing performance this song is the tribute best of anything we have seen
This song moves me so deeply, thank you Bruce.
Aegis90 If that isn't the truth. Every time I hear this song, it's goose bump city for me. Amazing, amazing song.

I Love Bruce Springsteen! My favority 💙🎸🥰😘😘😘😘😘
Been weeping for days now. This hurt everyone who woke on 9/11/01.We do the best we can. We need to do the best we can.
Bruce’s solo and then the BRIDGE! Insane! INSANE!
Bruce is God. Is Love. Greats from Spain. Bruce forever!! 🇺🇲🎸🇺🇲🎸🇺🇲🎸🇺🇲🎸
Love this song, love this life version, but I think this was the first time I realized how hard Max is pounding the drums.
True. Max Weinberg truly is one of the greatest drummers of all time
Absolutely bonkers Spanish crowd fantastic 🎉
Thee Best. Catharsis in one song. Especially NOW!
Amen
Gracias por tu música Bruce and the E street band.
Bruce rules
Thank you for keeping on
Helps us get through the darkness
Fantastic song from an even better album. Both never get the credit they deserve.
Ich liebe steve❤
Such wonderful musicians with Bruce in the centre giving everything he has night after night. How could anyone not be moved by this? Unbelievable
Everyone who see this Vid, knows that he's the BOSS! - Emotional and pure Power, also the Band, Steve van Zandt👍
100% agree!!
10000 % agree!!
Yes. I have this and live in New York City. Plus I have seen him live.
This track says so much, don’t listen if you dislike it. It makes no difference whoever says they don’t like this track.
Bruce Springsteen is amazing ❤
This song rescued a Nation.
Watching this performance of this song, what the song is about, coupled with the effort, emotions and quality of performance makes watching this like a spiritual experience for me. Tears run down my cheeks. Sheer perfection.
Powerful. Feel them pulling the oil from the well and through the derrick. Great.
No doubt the best song of the previous decade.
My dad bought this DVD when it came out in 2002. I have been listening and watching these clips ever since.
I've had to buy this DVD FIVE times now because I've worn out the other four copies!
for me is this the best album of Bruce Springsteen. I will never forget this performance in Paris in 2002. It was complete silentness after this performance. 45000 people left quiet...
😂😂😂😂
Haha you're awesome
I'm not a Springsteen music fan but this song gives me the chills as a native New Yorker
This is actually my favorite Bruce Springsteen song
PLEASE tour again once more bruce.
Don't worry, i think! Bruce says before Christmas, that he will take it easy this year. But hopefully we will be back to you soon, he says. So i bet it will be E Street time in 2020 :)
Bruce loves to tour during an election year! I think you’ll get your wish!!! ❤️❤️
2020
I hope you have the best concerts in Barcelona. Good music always be alive. Always The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Barcelona preparada para recibir a The Boss. The best music in town with Bruce Springsteen.
Its always an amazing moment when they share a mic. Little Stevie and Patti are spitting fire in this.
Bruce 13/05/2023
Energy top 💪💪💪💪💪💪
Thank you Mr Bruce SPRINGSTEEN and the E STREET BAND!!!!!!
The Drummer fucking good ,very good Precision !!!!like a Rolex !!!...Precision ....
Max Weinberg! Usualy keeps his eyes on Bruce during all concerts to match and keep up with him, damn fine drummer!
Yes; Max W. is really an excellent drummer!
The boss ❤ Cela c'est du rock !!! 😍😍🎸🎸👼👼🙏☘
This man 5:33 is not just an entertainer, he's an artist, a showman, a storyteller
and a representation of something great in humanity.
I had the amazing opportunity to see him live once. Just wow. Please come to Australia again Mr Springsteen.
Love You 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘 Bruce é energia que não cabe no coração 💖 uma explosão na alma 😻 💘 🎸🎤🔥
Amazing how songs still are so popular years later tells you how great they are.
Sin palabras. Eres único.......🌌🌌❤️
Aún se me sigue erizando la piel cada vez que escucho está canción
This song will always bring tears to my eyes...what a day ...#NeverForget
A profoundly moving and sad song, that somehow rejuvenates and unites. We've waltzed naked through the fires of Hell, but we WILL heal!
Absolutely magnificent
