That dude clearly stole her idea. The pizza flopped & he had to do something else. He's a thief. There is a lesson in this: be careful who you share ideas with, because they will steal it. Always copyright stuff you're going to use for a business.

A great example is build a bear. They stole the idea from brown bear factory in SF.

I DON'T THINK THE DUDE EVER TRIED THE PIZZA BUSINESS THINGY....for what? He would've been stupid to have done that, BUT it almost was a GOOD LIE though...MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!>>>POPCORN already making Money, so why waste time on pizza? TIME IS MONEY!!! ISN'T THAT'S HOW 'THieFS' THINK? So, NICE TRY, WISE GUY, ya didn't fool Lady Cayce.

People don't understand oral and written agreements, and that they stand in court. He thought because she didn't have a patent that he could stand in court and her case would be thrown out. Not quite how that works. She brought the burden of proof and he messed up when he agreed not to steal her idea. By way of her quick thinking she made him agree in a sort of contract that he would not replicate her idea and that made it clear there was no "misunderstanding" as he could have played in court. The fact she is acting as her own attorney in court possibly means she also knows some law herself. Seems he thought he found someone he could get over on as he even called himself a opportunist.

Poor judgement on this one - plaintiff incredibly naive but she doesn't own indian spice recipes, he's just a more active entrepreneur and pushed ahead with the idea. She shouldn't have got any of his profit but I doubt he cares because he'll make a bomb in the future.
