Big fan of these changes, especially buffing his pokes (love df1 being -3 and him having his old df1,2 back), giving Mourning Crow a mixup to catch people blocking, and making it easier to do WS3 out of crouch dash. Some other ideas I have are making df1,2 (the TK8 one, not the TK7 one you added back to the game) a natural combo, and buffing his 1+2. You highlight Devil Jin's need for a tracking mid that wallsplats and is safe on block, 1+2 does all of these except it is -12. I worry that making his bf2 a tracking move might make his poking too powerful in combination with the other changes
interesting imporvements, however I would say buffing a characters weaknesses is always a one way ticket to unoriginality and bland character archetypes (not to say all of your improvements were like that but a lot of them where). Devil jin needs buffed combo damage, a buffed hell sweep, and a buffed mixup (potentially by improving his oki back to the way it was with morning crow or buffing his iws2 to not screw immediately on launch), as these tend to be his strengths. Also potentially brining back devil jins old strong poking could be nice as he is very one dimensional right now. (definitely down for the old df2 option you mentioned) Please harada, give Devil Jin a triple electric combo starting option and buff Heavens Gate back to the way it was so you can delay it at the wall for more damage and it is an actually viable combo ender.

Some good ideas. I would make bf23 wall splat since you risk your life for nothing. 1+2 having the old cancel to create more pressure. B1+2 being neutral instead of +1. Ff2 needs a range buff. More chip damage on MCR1. Reverse cd1 scaling change. Df2 on ch letting you choose between mcr22 and mcr1. And have cd1+2,1+2 make the opponent closer for better combos. Those are just my takes

I'd also add faster recovery off flying, 1+2 being able to be cancelled, 1+4 with low sweep option like he had in t7, and improve tracking on some of his moves. But i do agree with your changes, especially with 4 being tailspin and finally giving him tornado..

@@yasumivtuber What i mean is that when you fly from downed, even if you decide to not press anything, recovery is absolutely insane, to a point it makes no difference between pressing something and get launched if they duck or block, or just not do anything while Flying, as they can run through entire screen and launch you anyway..

d/f+2 into ewgf, hellsweep, or +6 running 3 would be an interesting change that dates back to Tekken 5, and yeah, he kinda needs an easy ewgf doesn't he, especially now that I'm pretty sure heihachi has 1 as well
@@yasumivtuber it would make him fun too, his biggest problem is that they made him revolve around mc, a quite mediocre stance, and not very fun to have 6 different ways to go in that stance, df2 is also quite useless too, but getting fiendish rend would make him much more fun, and another thing I would do for mc and his heat, is make mc 3 a power crush, it wouldn't break thr game anyways cause mc isn't immune from lows especially mc 3, or make it a low, so mc becomes an actual 50/50, and then give him stpry mode moves for heat, like 1 1 1, and angel Jin swords, 1 1 1 is already balanced by the inconsistency of 1 1's tracking and it's bad range, and the swords would serve as high damage/High knockback back panic moves, it would be enough to balance them by making the vertical sword have 0 tracking and the horizontal one a high, and those buffs would still make him suck but at least they're kinda the bare minimum, the rest of the buffs depend on wether they want to keep him a gimmick or get him back as an all rounder, something the devs don't even know judging by the nerfs and they're statements, in general he needs new or technically old lows and some buffs on the ones he already got, he is the good highs and lows Mishima afterall, and then better frames (he is so minus and unsafe that you can't build any pressure, and lose your turn no matter what you do) give him back his old pokes and old df1 2 mid and overall speed and range on his tools if they actually want to make him an all rounder again, or give him back his old 50/50s like samsara, very weird that things that would've complimented his gimmicks were removed from Tekken 8, he doesn't even have three ring circus and upper.
It feels like they wanted the direction of this character to be less Raw neutral and slow play like in T7 and more explosiveness which is quite boring IMO.
I agree with a lot of the changes, however I feel like this isn't really a direction that Devil jin should go. He's been a much more neutral bully character as an inverse to jin's turtle style (at least in older games). To focus around the bully with long range pokes, I don't really feel like he should get much non-commital frame advantage on block (eg. the b+1+2 change you proposed), moreso pushback while having better tools in neutral, like a safer demon paw with more pushback, a longer range non heat engager normal hit knockdown uf+4 (my ideal knockdown would kinda be like steve f+1+2, 2 but rotated ~90* counter-clockwise at +3 untechable). But I feel like he DOES need better pokes, and instead of twin lancer, maybe changing tsunami kicks so then df+1 doesn't feel like a do-everything poke, and with df+4,4 reducing the recovery of the second hit by 5 frames for +1 hit -10 block, this way it is a delayable mid mid 13f poke string that, while not safe, is safe enough that people will fear it allowing df+4,4 to be a useful move and a compliment to df+1 without being insignificant. I really do like the changes to his lows that you proposed, however I DESPISE the idea of giving him a "hellsweep" out of stance, this game has too much stance rushdown and there are better ways to apply a block based mixup out of stance, and to compliment the lasers removing grey health, maybe make his MRN1+2 an extremely high chip damage high (15-ish), with like +1 on block (again pushback), that does a wall rebound on block to give wall utility to MRN. Another change that would be similar would be increasing the chip damage of his electric to something like 7 instead of 4, this allows for a longer range, safer and more stressful neutral matchup against dvj. He has been an always slightly out of reach twist on the mishima style which makes since as he is supposed to be t3 jin KAZAMA, a style based around using your opponents frustration to make them run into your parries, evasion, and counter hit tools. And having him dominate spacing without much insentive to be in kissing distance with your opponent, would satisfy his mishima and kazama roots while keeping him relatively unique in T8. Also buff his sidestep and backdash for these neutral situations :)
i like the cd1+2 change a LOT. also definitely give him a grab from mourning crow since they want to force him into that stance so much
