Damn, I completely missed this sad news although I knew of course that Eddie had been battling throat cancer for a while now. I had hoped for him to recover but alas. Coincidentally I listened to Van Halen's greatest hits album yesterday during my commute, on the day of his death. A sad day for rock and roll indeed.
I never realized until I watched this Floor growling under Marco's vocals. I knew she was the best, but I didn't know she did this. Everyone else sings what they can. Floor sings what she wants. She's untouchable.

Ah yes, Rammstein, I totally agree on that pyro comment. I've been at a festival once where Rammstein was a headliner, performing the last show of the weekend. Even the crowd was joining in with the pyro, with dozens of fires on the field, from people burning their trash. Great show!
You can easily know how far you are in the show by Tuomas' outfit. If he has the leather top hat on, first song, no hat but coat still on 2nd song or very early in the show, no coat around mid-show and then I would need to get into Tuomas' disheveled hair level method to figure out how deep into the show you are getting. HEHE! 😉
Yeah. Studying Tuomas' clothes/hair condition is definitely an established setlist number identification method. There has also been the one or other select show where he went from full gear down to only pants and shoes. lol
I was there at this show, I lost my wallet, almost fell off the balcony on the seating to the left, ears ringing for days and MISSED the Dawkins reveal at the end. It was also my FIRST Nightwish concert I travelled to see. It fkn blew my mind (and eardrums) and when I saw people leaving we all shared this look of absolute rapture. Tears where shed, and the event was absolutely BANGING. Each song was a performance and it was unmissable! You gotta watch the whole thing and I'll love to see you react to it as I'll be there watching the damn thing again with ya!
Ah, that first Nightwish show sticks with ya. I was there too at Wembley but, my first Nightwish show was in the End of an Era tour. Much smaller venue and it was insane.

This Nightwish show at Wembley in 2015 was voted the 2nd best that year. Queen's show was the winner, which is not surprising as they are a domestic band in the U.K..

Freddie was a phenomenal, unbeatable voice, but the band was more than him, there were three others who wrote a fair share of the songs as well. You don't like Adam Lambert, that's fine, it's your opinion. I like them with either, that is my opinion, but as long as there are 2 writers of probably nearly half of Queen's songs and other instrumental bits, it is still Queen.
It's just muscle memory. When I was playing in bands, I never looked at the fretboard of my bass no matter what I was doing on stage. The hands just know their job.

There’s probably nothing that Nightwish can’t present. Amazing musicians! But their technicians are also amazingly good! Bring the two groups together - then the whole concert will be amazing!
This is probably my absolute favourite song by Nightwish, it is just so awesome in every way. Floor is just, I just can't understand really. I mean I listened to her sing Puccini the other day and then now I see this wonderful banger of a song where she is singing with a harsher kind of vocal and also doing some growling and doing that siren call so softly and some screaming, all in the same song in this instance... She's just spectacular and amazing, in every way. It just amazes me that a she can sing in so many different styles and genres, she can sing opera but she can also growl and so far also sing everything in between from what I've heard so far, it's just out of this world to me. She's like a chameleon, and she is brilliant in everything she sings. I am not a big fan of growling, but Floors growls I just love! And also, she sings like that and still windmills in between and doesn't sound winded... it's just, amazing. I am running out of words :D And the rest of the band are brilliant as well in what they do, it's just wonderful to get to see and listen to this kind of brilliant musicians come together and perform. Bands like Nightwish are, to me, not something you see every day, they are truly one of a kind. Thanks you so much for this reaction Tank, it is always so enjoyable to watch your reactions. Even my hubby who is not so interested in watching reactions as I am, has been watching yours :) I like that we get so much detail about the stage and the set and pyros and instruments. Great reaction this is a great song. It plays on my car rotation both live and studio. The production on the European is epic I would to see then in Europe. I seen them in Worcester mass in 2018 on the decades tours and it was great just stripped down and in a theater venue. The show was amazing and probably the largest crowd I ever seen at that venue. Hoping when concert start back up they come to the states again. Keep up the great reactions.

You mentioned the great sound mixing - the mixing is done by Tero Kinnunen, who has been working with them since the beginning and is STILL working with them. Hell, he was working with them before Nightwish even existed! He did recording and mixing for Tuomas on two bands that he was in before he formed Nightwish. I don't know if he does the live shows as well as producing the albums, but I'm guessing he couldn't possibly do everything, he is but a mortal man! But he certainly used to tour with them as roadie, sound engineer, assistant, runner, general dogsbody, drinking partner... You need to see the From Wishes to Eternity and End of Innocence DVDs - lots of extra footage of them mucking about, as well as the live show. Tero's nearly 50 now and he looks like a baby in those DVDs! Well they all do.
Obviously you can't see those DVDs yet, you're still discovering the music! But later maybe. 🙂 The extra footage might be generally safe from music spoilers anyway... anybody else want to weigh in?

I mean I listened to her sing Puccini the other day and then now I see this wonderful banger of a song where she is singing with a harsher kind of vocal and also doing some growling and doing that siren call so softly and some screaming, all in the same song in this instance... She's just spectacular and amazing, in every way.
It just amazes me that a she can sing in so many different styles and genres, she can sing opera but she can also growl and so far also sing everything in between from what I've heard so far, it's just out of this world to me. She's like a chameleon, and she is brilliant in everything she sings. I am not a big fan of growling, but Floors growls I just love!
And also, she sings like that and still windmills in between and doesn't sound winded... it's just, amazing. I am running out of words :D
And the rest of the band are brilliant as well in what they do, it's just wonderful to get to see and listen to this kind of brilliant musicians come together and perform. Bands like Nightwish are, to me, not something you see every day, they are truly one of a kind.

Great reaction this is a great song. It plays on my car rotation both live and studio. The production on the European is epic I would to see then in Europe. I seen them in Worcester mass in 2018 on the decades tours and it was great just stripped down and in a theater venue. The show was amazing and probably the largest crowd I ever seen at that venue. Hoping when concert start back up they come to the states again. Keep up the great reactions.

You mentioned the great sound mixing - the mixing is done by Tero Kinnunen, who has been working with them since the beginning and is STILL working with them. Hell, he was working with them before Nightwish even existed! He did recording and mixing for Tuomas on two bands that he was in before he formed Nightwish. I don't know if he does the live shows as well as producing the albums, but I'm guessing he couldn't possibly do everything, he is but a mortal man! But he certainly used to tour with them as roadie, sound engineer, assistant, runner, general dogsbody, drinking partner...
You need to see the From Wishes to Eternity and End of Innocence DVDs - lots of extra footage of them mucking about, as well as the live show. Tero's nearly 50 now and he looks like a baby in those DVDs! Well they all do.

Obviously you can't see those DVDs yet, you're still discovering the music! But later maybe. 🙂 The extra footage might be generally safe from music spoilers anyway... anybody else want to weigh in?
