I read a fanfic a few years back (yes, I still read fanfiction lol) where Bella's interest in Edward was more about being part of the beautiful elite and being a beautiful and powerful supernatural creature. I know that wasn't the intent of her character in the actual canon, but to me that made so much more sense of why she was willing to be tied to Edward forever as a vampire yet couldn't stand the thought of marrying him. I do remember reading these books when they came out and enjoying them, but not loving them even then, yet it always annoyed me how long it took them to realize it was Victoria, and how messed up their relationship was yet we're supposed to see it as peak romance (mind, I was a teen when they came out, so literally the age they were aimed for).
Have you ever thought of reading and reviewing the 50 shades of grey books? I would love to see you tear that book apart. You always make me laugh with your comments on the mess up parts of books. And since this is a fan fiction of twilight it would be good next project.
I never read the books, my sister said they were poorly written, that said I did watch the first two movies. I hated Bella more than I thought I would. A major reason was (this is silly) I read Dracula a maybe a year or two before and I kept comparing her to Mina. I couldn't help it, I just kept thinking Bella couldn't hold a candle to her. Here is Mina Harker Victorian period married woman and she is braver and stronger and some how more modern then this 18 year old from modern times. I know one is a lead to a teen romance and the other is in a horror novel but still she is so much more of a well rounded and interesting character.
Between the red flags in the relationship, the angst and the body horror that's present in the last book yes Stephenie Meyer should've embraced the fact she's better at writing horror than romance. Also, I don't know if you have plans to read Midnight Sun, but this is the best book of the "franchise" for me. It's Twilight but from Edward's perspective and I will say, I cannot believe I'm saying this as I don't like Edward either, but I do think it's the most interesting one.

I totally agree with you on this book 📕
