I wish I could've flown on an L1011. Such a technologically advanced plane, one of my favorites. Thank you for capturing this, probably one of the last L1011 passenger flights, let alone a video of it.
This was already a great L-10 video, but when I saw the ATA interior and cart labeling, that was emotional and really hit home. I was a flight attendant with ATA after they acquired a number of L-10's from Delta. Loved the airplane. It was amazing. Brings back a lot of great memories.
Wow, incredible! This must have been one of the last passenger L-1011 flights. Barq Aviation acquired some TriStar 500s from ATA for humanitarian flights I believe.
I used to be a flight attendant with ATA airlines and actually worked on this exact airplane..ATA used this airplane for military flights around the world..
I never thought I'd see an L-1011 in quite a recent video..this is really amazing...It made me remember flying another iconic aircraft as a kid: the TU154
Pilot to pilot, I would give my eye teeth to fly the L1011. Remarkable how clean the primary IP is; even without glass MFD's, it looks very modern and ergonomically focused. Looks like a lovely plane to fly (and given the crosswind, that approach and landing was zero drama).
This is a truly awesome video. Thank you for posting it. And if the crew sees this, even over a decade later, thank YOU, too! The L1011 and the 747 are my two favorite aircraft. Probably because my grand dad used to fly them.
Absolute super priceless capture of analogue Lockheed L1011-500 Tristar a short body version. Flew on TWA L1011 multiple times almost 41 years ago. A very advanced airliner at the time and enjoyed the Rolls-Royce RB211 engine start up growl rumble with white smoke being emitted! Loved the flight crew having a cigarette:). From Australia, Well done! Ansett 727.
Good for you that it was published! 😊 This is something I really love about TH-cam! Sometimes you randomly get blessed with some fotage you didn't even knew it existed.
What a fantastic video, great attention to so much of the smaller details that nerds such as myself love. Thank you for sharing this, such an amazing aircraft.
In 1980, my father raved about the L-1011 TriStar, having flown in one (British Airways) from London to Australia, via Bahrain and Singapore. In 1989, I made my first ever trans-Atlantic flight (Heathrow to Boston) with TWA. I too thought that it was a fabulous aircraft.
Your father could well have flown on a BA TriStar from London to Bahrain as they were used on many services to the Gulf region but were never used on the Singapore/Australia routes.
Wonderful airplane the L1011 :-) Superb glimpses of a bygone era…. 18:03 Smoking on the flight deck? Looks like the L1011 seated 10 across-equal to the B747, and more than many twin aisles today?
Amazing flight video of one of the most iconic Jetliners 🙌, possibly even the newest/ best quality video too! I only wish there were more than just 1 still flying 💔
So nice to watch very nostalgic indeed. I am recently retired UK based with 43 years aviation work under my belt starting with BA in 1977. I was fortunate to fly on many L-1011 Tristars during the halcyon days.
Never flew on an L1011 but spent many happy hours at Luton Airport watching the two Court Lines Aircraft, one yellow G-BAAA and it's pink sister G-BAAB.
Is that a B737-200 with the P&W JT8D’s I see out the cockpit windscreen just after push back parked behind the DC-9 (or derivative thereof)? Love the distinctiveness of the classic airliners like the Tristar, DC10, MD11, B727, B737 200s, B747 & Concorde before the homogenised Tupperware twin jets took over. So glad I’m just old enough to recall flying in the 80s when there was so much variety and some bloody good engine noise too!
I've flown on several of these of these from San Fran to Hawaii, back when the airline ATA was still around. They're very roomy and surprisingly quiet inside.
I forgot totally about ATA! Twenty years ago I worked in Indianapolis for five years while living in the NYC area. Flew ATA almost weekly. They did not use the L1011 on that rout. Mostly 737s.
TRISTARS have the best autoland & auto braking. Pitch mode on app never changes the passengers seat pitch. Two engine ferry piece of cake. 3 spool engines with THRUST BUMP EVERY 7 DAYS or when needed. AMAZING AIRLINER! SHE LIKES .85
So sad that this brilliant piece of technical ingenuity and advancement didn't survive the sales cut vs. the DC-10 and 747... truly a loss in so many ways: The functionality, smooth quiet ride, the luxury services that airlines who flew this bird indulged us with ... nothing can or will compare to this, from the good old days, in one way or another!
This is an old video from 2013. Askari aviation are part of Pakistan's military and they are used to transport troops to missions like UN forces in Congo
2013?! There is a 737-200 taxi-ing in front of them prior to take off. I wouldn't be shocked if that ATC plane at 4:00 is an original DC-9 since we are in the land of the long ago.
Loved this aeroplane and lucky to fly with Caledonian Airways from Manchester to Tenerife in 1993. Same charter configuration also but still very comfortable
Immediately recognized the ATA livery. Considering it was probably in the Middle East in the 2000s(ATA military charters), the more things change, the more things stay the same.
@@flymajj Thanks for posting this, I've never flown on a 500. Looks like some of the 70s charm was lost in that the bank of 5 lavs in the aft was replaced with a galley and the fun elevators going to the lower galley were taken out. Still these were such amazing aircraft, I miss them.
Incredible footage thank you
Whats good GroundPound69

@@terrablume I was very fortunate to join this flight in the last days.
Flew on a lot of L1011's as a kid across the Atlantic. Loved that aircraft, so comfortable to fly on - and also one of the best looking IMO.
@aviationlba747 It was one of the last flights. As far as I know, N162AT (this one), N164AT and N194AT are still languishing at Ras-al-Khaimah.
Greetings from Abu Dhabi to Leeds Bradford. I'm a Teesside boy, by the way!
Jan. 2013....
@tomsamuelson8512 I know it's from Jan 2013 but I never expected to see an L-1011 flying in 2013, I thought they were all gone
Great aircraft...my late dad served as a Flight Engineer on the Tristar just before his retirement in 1999.
Which airline. My dad was a Captain on them.
Flew Tristars for 9 years as a First Oficer. It was "Queen" of the skies, What a beautiful aircraft. Thanks for the video.
Pilot to pilot, I would give my eye teeth to fly the L1011. Remarkable how clean the primary IP is; even without glass MFD's, it looks very modern and ergonomically focused. Looks like a lovely plane to fly (and given the crosswind, that approach and landing was zero drama).
Old school flight engineer position. Tight crew. What a good Job! Thanks for sharing.
A truly amazing video,of one of my favorite aircraft from the 1970's .
Thank you so much for sharing the video.
Awsome looking aircraft! I didnt even know there was one flying these days! Spacious cockpit, huge windshields,so very nice!
Think this video is from 2013?
The sound of those RB211's at full power is beautiful. She's almost back home having originally operated for Royal Jordanian. Thanks for sharing
This is a truly awesome video.
Thank you for posting it. And if the crew sees this, even over a decade later, thank YOU, too!
The L1011 and the 747 are my two favorite aircraft. Probably because my grand dad used to fly them.
Yes, the L-1011 TriStar is an iconic and amazing three engined passenger jet, nowadays it's in limited service and a very rare plane to find
What a fantastic film. It brings back good memories from my time in ATA. Been onboard this plane many times.

L-1011 is my favourite plane, thank you very much for posting this incredible video!
Great footage of a true classic - thank you for posting!
This brings back my golden memories As L-1011maintenance planner with Saudi Arabian Airlines during 80 ies to 90 ies.
Is the gate guardian still at the RUH aviation museum ? I lived their from 2010-2013. They had a B707 as well.
@@obdev9473 Yes, the Gate Guardian B707 at the Royal Jordanian Aeronautical Museum is still there.
That is one beautiful airplane! So glad to see it flying!
The L1011 is maybe my favourite aircraft, and this is probably the newest video of it♥
@Jannik_Stein One of the last flights.
Good for you that it was published! 😊
This is something I really love about TH-cam! Sometimes you randomly get blessed with some fotage you didn't even knew it existed.
The Stargazer flew last year - plenty videos of it on here
Only outside tho, or am I wrong?
What a nice plane. I recall flying on one as a small child. The sound of the Rolls Royce engines provides such a sense of confidence.
What a fantastic video, great attention to so much of the smaller details that nerds such as myself love. Thank you for sharing this, such an amazing aircraft.
Hundreds of flights on the wonderful and iconic TRiSTAR, but i don't remember being that loud, beautiful video
My last L1011-500 flight was on Delta in August 1992 from LGW-ATL, and my first flight was from FRA-ATL in August 1982.
Best pitch trim ever made on aircraft. It smoothly rolls...no clacking and no noise.
Amazing! I so miss the Eastern first class silver service flights 70's & 80's.....
Wonderful airplane the L1011 :-) Superb glimpses of a bygone era…. 18:03 Smoking on the flight deck? Looks like the L1011 seated 10 across-equal to the B747, and more than many twin aisles today?
Awesome video of this beautiful airplane! Thanks for posting it ❤
I helped build some of the first L-1011s in Palmdale. It was a well built airplane. Check out the steam gauges. That’s how you really fly an airplane.
Thank you for building one of my favorite airplanes, and being apart of history 🙏
Amazing flight video of one of the most iconic Jetliners 🙌, possibly even the newest/ best quality video too! I only wish there were more than just 1 still flying 💔
Oh wow this is from 2013….towards the end I was thinking how old is this video, since you landed at the old Islamabad airport.
So nice to watch very nostalgic indeed. I am recently retired UK based with 43 years aviation work under my belt starting with BA in 1977. I was fortunate to fly on many L-1011 Tristars during the halcyon days.
This is a marvel of a video.. thanks for posting this!!!
10:56 just having a casual smoke in the cockpit
LOL
😂
Just like the good old days..! 🤣
Didn't seem like a sterile cockpit while preparing for take off either 😬
The aircraft was built in the era of heavy smoking so why not?
I FLEW THAT AC for ATA with some of the greatest crews ever. Best engineered heavy jet ever! 😢
As an expert could you please offer your opinion as to whether this plane could be flown with a two person crew?
Thank you so much for the video!
Great aircraft, I enjoyed so much flying with L1011
Great video!! 👍🏻 I enjoyed to watch it. Also the sound of the engines are awesome!!!!
thanks for uploading this treat. ! .
Nice catch Ian, great video! Same crew as I had.
Excellent. Thank you for sharing!
Never flew on an L1011 but spent many happy hours at Luton Airport watching the two Court Lines Aircraft, one yellow G-BAAA and it's pink sister G-BAAB.
Fantastic video. Thank you everyone. Great work by the pilots. ❤
What a pleasant surprise! Thx
One of the best aircraft
Awesome video! Love seeing Barq content. I've seen their stored Tristars at RKT a few times now. Love the ATA schemes on them!
Looked like the right hand pilot was having a cigarette, those were the days !!
I know it was empty, but still, set at 14 for take-off, and went up so fast and easy. Very powerful.
I remember flew on Delta LT1011 from San Fransisco to Atlanta, Red Eye, in 1977. I am 69 now.
Best airliner ever ❤…remember my youth flying as pax in eastern L1011 and Gulf Air .
Nice video mate, thanks. Not many planes still flying that need a flight engineer. 👍

An absolutely brilliant aircraft. great design and excellent safety record.
Absolutely amazing
❤ is my first favorite! Many times from Luanda to Lisbon from TAAG. My second is 777-200ER.
I was a flight engineer on the L-1011 in the mid 90’s. I miss her.
I have a soft spot for the L-1011. Never flown on one. But she still looks mighty fine
What a cool flight those pilots are really flying that plane
I had The absolute luxury and privilege to Fly SYD To Colombo on Air Lanka Truly Amazing and unforgettable Cheers to The Tristar
I've flown on several of these of these from San Fran to Hawaii, back when the airline ATA was still around. They're very roomy and surprisingly quiet inside.
the L-1011 TriStar is my most favourite plane, i wish it would still be in passenger service though
I forgot totally about ATA! Twenty years ago I worked in Indianapolis for five years while living in the NYC area. Flew ATA almost weekly. They did not use the L1011 on that rout. Mostly 737s.

I used to fly a lot with LTU TriSars in my youth.
Beautiful landing
Everybody happy??? Ooooohhh yesssss sir!!!!👏👍😊Ps: First plane that could “Autoland”, she was her time far ahead! 💪👏🫡
Did not know this model is still in use, last time, many years ago was on a BA flight from CDG to Heathrow
It’s not - the films from 2013

GEAR UP GEAR DOWN....AMAZING
Did this plane belong to American Trans Air it looks so familiar.
I flew on one of these aircraft in the early 80s. Plenty of seating.
What a beauty! Please, may I know...at what speed and altitude does she still cruise?
Those cockpit windows are huge

I have flown in cockpit of Air Lanka's L-1011-100, 200 &500. 500 cockpit was very advance with FMS, this dash 500 cockpit has the lagacy outlook
Amazing this can still fly, must be well maintained.
❤❤❤ very nice love L1011
hidden gem
Excellent!
I wonder if the tooling still exists? Perhaps Lockheed could bring it back as a two engine model and give Airbus some real competition.
TriStars are very comfortable rides!
Wow, amazing video
L.1011 tristar is the best aircraft ,, i remember gulf air ❤❤❤
I am amazed to find that this iconic plane is still flying. Last I flew on L-1011 was in 2007.
Video is from 2013.
Wow Captains enjoying smoking free style air craft
Could it really land itself?
Yes, and it wasn't the first to do so. Look up _Autoland._
Which is the more beautiful, Tri Star or 727?
Wait what?!?!?! There is still one flying?? How do I do this, this is my favorite passenger jet!! I haven't been on one since 1994!
@wizardmix This was 11 years ago.
@@flymajj Ahhh yes I saw the 2013 after my comment. I miss these aircraft so much.

@henson2k This is the old Airport in Rawalpindi.
23:05 sound?
Autopilot disconnect. ( You can see the Captains left thumb hit the button on the yoke.) Amazing vid!
