A couple of remarks: a) you can have stitching in different color, like I have shark blue contrast stitching and shark blue seat belts :-) b) PCCB was for a long time not available and therefore, there are cars with steel brakes (like mine) and this is probably anyway the better choice for tracking (mind the cost of new PCCBs if not specified when the car is originally configured , btw, same goes for PTS which is only available in homeopathic dosed) c) don’t judge the cars value based on the obscene prices asked for by the car flippers but on its normal list price (available to the some 7’000 buyers lucky enough to get one allocated. Cheers from a proud GT4RS owner ❤ P.S. and if you don’t like the multiple downshifts when overtaking: try manual mode with the paddles, works wonders 😊
Congrats! Such a great car! I think it's only fair to judge the car at both price points since, of the 7000 first owners, many will buy it as an investment to not drive. And the second owners will be more likely to buy it to drive it.
Explanation on the GT4RS nurburgring lap time. The reason the 4rs is 9 seconds slower is because it has no double wishbone suspension. The front end of the car wasn't as compliant or direct when compared to the gt3. I think I remember AP saying that Porsche tried to fit a double wishbone on the 4rs but couldn't fit one because of the size of the cayman.
@@krichd1 They probably weren't willing to develop a new suspension for the car and instead, wanted to throw the one in the gt3 in. Just speculation of course
AP is full of shit. He's gone on record saying that you couldn't fit a GT3 engine into a Cayman too. There are kits out there that allow all sorts of suspension mods to the Cayman to take it away from McPhersons. The bottom line, as it always has been, is they don't want to infringe on the 911. That's it.
Thank goodness for Ant. Grumpy negates the astonishing Nurturing time of the GT4RS which is better than a 720 McLaren, even if it cant match the GT3 on that track. Ant is spot on except regarding the expensive carbon ceramics, which I didnt order, because of their cost and the fact that even Porsche use steel if they are tracking cars. Grumpy says they will make 7,000 of these, which, if they did, would answer his complaint about real drivers not being able to order one.Grumpy says it is just a Cayman, but its actually more than that. Its an instant classic. Thank you Porsche.
Agree! The only thing Grumpy is right about on the GT4RS, is the interior not being flamboyant enough. Sadly I specced my so early, Sonderwünsch hadn’t got around to giving it any options to spruce it up yet. Deviated stitching wasn’t on the menu in 2021.
@@Nord_Mann Same with my order. But the light grey seat inserts are very stylish and certainly complement my Arctic Grey exterior. The large fire extinguisher in the footwell is bright red. Perhaps I need to stare at that more often to get some colour.

I have a black 997 because of Condorman. Morovich of the Prognorviach drives a fake 935 turbo to chase Condorman in his kit car. I am tempted by some Fuchs wheels just to make it look more Prognorviach.
Ant! Loved the comment about Condorman! That chase scene with the all black 930s and a slant nose 935 look model in there, pretty sweet. That's where I was really first introduced to 930s/935 as a kid although I've remained hooked ever since. 😂
The thing about GT4RS, the interior options are... dull. Arctic Grey or Deep-Sea Blue accents, and that is it. No Exclusive Manufaktur leather package, not even a chance of having painted interior package if you go for PTS exterior. I'm kind of annoyed. Not that I can afford it anyway, though. And them intake howl more than makes up for it.
Nice work, good chat about your thoughts. I personally love the interior and you can make some small changes. I changed the colour of the seat inserts. 100 over sticker is stupid, but comparing it to a Mclaren ?? Atleast one can drvie the 4RS everyday to the shops etc, where as a 675, or whatever, you wouldn't drive it to the shops and you'll always wonder if you'll get home and not breakdown (again).
Haha! Well, a McLaren over a few years old, that's had enough miles on it with it's issues fixed or prevented, looked after by a company like Thorney Motorsport doesn't have to be so unreliable. But, it's more the price comparison for what you can get for that money. It may not suit everyone.
Contrast stitching, coloured seatbelts and door pulls are all options to spruce up the interior. If you have money to burn you can change the colour of the air vents and all carbon trim.
Great, perfect video. Yep, I am another perosn who could buy one at msrp but refuses to do so at 100k over. And, given the recent Porsche issues, would always be worried about bore scoring anyway, even on the gt3 engine. Crap tech.
I watched your other GT4 RS review - here are a couple of thoughts for you (1) the 4RS has the gear set from the 991.2 3RS (2) the engine is the engine used as the base for the Cup Car - now do Lotus Emira (1) AMG four banger or (2) modified Camry engine mated to an interesting gear box. RS cars also have reduced sound insulation and thinner lexan windows. They are very much designed to be the track capable road car. The harsh reality is, with Porsche you are buying engineering, design, manufacturing and performance excellence - with Lotus you are paying for the fantasy of that.
Excellent format! Love the differing views. Absolutely enjoy the GT4RS. I am with Ant on this one. Although other competitors at the inflated price point are worth the look, I find them to be too big (Aventador SVJ) and perhaps from manufacturers with less durable reliability (McLaren). The 4RS is the perfect size, comes with plenty of drivable theater, and from a manufacturer with higher reliability.
The dealer markup currently on new Porsche GT cars from US dealers is extortion. I may be wrong, but it seems like if you are able to get an allocation in the UK they go for retail price? Then, the second hand market is where the markups happen? That would be fair enough, but in the US unless you’re one of the golden 918 owners that gets the buy at list deal, then everyone no matter how loyal to the brand gets screwed
And, the Cayman makes sense at retail, but £100k over? That's a bit too much in my opinion. I hear you on the flaws of the other cars... Running those will be considerably higher, realistically.

Lets stop making reference to the prices of these GT cars in the UK, they are not real......
So you have to compare this car to a GT3 and for my money, its no where near. The 911 looks much more classy, updated, great interior, more space. yes maybe less usable of the roads, but is any 500hp car usable on the roads, does 10cm difference chance that fact.
For me, the best sunday drive fun car is a caterham, atom, nomad,.... with the 50k price being key and width, gear change in any of these cars beats the porsche hands down!!! Thrills on UK roads beats any porsche hands down.....
I'd probably take a caterham and a vantage F1 together for less than 200k, before I would buy a GT car.... more fun, with the caterham, different vibe with the aston that the porsche, which still has a bit of a hate factor in the UK..... and its good to be different, not the same as all the others .... IMO.
This car is over priced for what it is..when looking at the real price.
