Some of the best images I have seen from you Russ, images at 4.30 -5.00 are fantastic, difficult to pick a winner but I think for me it is the image at 4.54. The video really showcases the effects of erosion and the environmental impact of global warming on the planet, as photographers I think it is important for us to show this. Great job mate.
Thanks, John. About a third of the coastline in southern England is being constantly eroded, especially along the East Coast. The recent storms, especially in the last 5 to 10 years, have accelerated the erosion. I don't remember there being so many winter storms growing up in the 80s when I lived near to the coast.
Love the minimalistic images Russ - looks a great place to explore with all the groynes and erosion down on the coast - a fun day out with the camera and watch those tides !! 😮 Been out with the camera a few times recently but not made any films , just focussing on photography but hope to make one soon - all the best mate 👍🏻
Thanks, Andrew. I have been out a few times just for photography, to Bawdsey last year, to scout out the location when I took these minimal photos. Sometimes, it's good to focus solely on photography.
Why so many derelict groins? Were they once private little docks or jetties that haven't been maintained over time? Brilliant photography subjects though! In Florida it was hard to find things like those - they would tear them down and replace them right away. Some really great images in this film Russ. Love the long exposures as well as the more textured shots along the beach. Amazing colors on those fallen trees! Great video Russ, really enjoyed the look at this beach! Hope you are doing well!
As I understand, the groynes are there to keep the beaches stable, stopping sand and pebble movement on an eroding coastline. They are left to fend for themselves. They are very common around the English coastline. The erosion is getting worse with all the recent storms.
Stunning Photos! What a great Beach!
