Build I just discovered: Hestia's magic regen outpaces Mirrored Thrasher, allowing you to apply Scorch ridiculously quickly or nuke enemies with unlimited Spirit Surge Bolts/Heartthrobs. I put Demeter on the Special for Freezer Burn and use Aspect of Circe before I got her regen to let me keep spamming Mirrored Thrasher hits during the Circe procs. I got Wicked Thrasher but think Rapid Thrasher would be better as hammers go, and getting Nimble Limbs is nice for quality of life (I rolled to get it at Epic since the build was mostly done). Trivia: Despite being married, Aphrodite and Heph actually had no real love for each other in Classical Mythology. Heph tried to placate her with jewels and trinkets, but Aphro found him ugly and antisocial so she instead gravitated towards Ares, who was more conventionally attractive and is actually famous for his care for women in Greek myths. Snubbed by this, Heph devised a golden net contraption that would activate when they cucked him, then hauled their naked asses to Olympus to show off his catch to the other Gods. Said Gods actually laughed at *him* instead for waving around direct evidence of his wife cheating on him until my bro Poseidon told them all to stop and implored Heph to cut the cheating bastards free and end their collective scandal and embarrassment. According to some traditions, he then married one of the Muses and had a happy, quiet marriage with her, while others have him remaining unhappily married to Aphro but also having a very complicated relationship with Athena. In this telling, he and Athena were very close friends because they both loved crafting, invention and philosophy, but Aphro struck Heph with incurable lust out of spite for how close they were. Heph then tried to force himself on her in a fit of madness, but Athena being the War God successfully defended herself and instead they accidentally got Gaia pregnant in the struggle. Athena and Heph eventually patched things up and raised Heph's resulting son together, which by Greek mythology standards is a pretty happy ending for everyone involved. They even had joint festivals together in Athens devoted to their lasting friendship and love of wisdom and creativity. In Hades II I presume they made their marriage to one another happier because so many of the Gods are already so petty and mean to each other, and it adds depth to both their characters to love non-conventional partners (in Hades I Aphro alludes to being lonely and unhappy since her husband never pays her any attention and only focuses on his work). I do hope they keep Athena and Heph's friendship when they add her to the game, as it's fun to have two Greek Gods who just genuinely are very close friends and nothing more, given how horny and petty most of them are.
Wolf Howl is one of the hexes that I think counts as under explored. Invuln is obv important as you know from picking heph for high fear, and its magic cost is low, and smithy sprint wolf howl is just good burst. I could easily see like a sister blades setup, with maybe Artemis that outputs insane damage, blast on special, hestia attack, the hammer that makes your omega attack cost 40, midnight oil/hestia regen and you will crank dps
Another cool hex build could be Twilight Curse with Orchestration (morphed foes are warped to your cast) and Extinction (morphed foes do 300 damage around them when they die) coupled with like Zeus cast + Prominence Flare on Persephone for more Omega Cast damage? It’s not really doing anything for bosses but throwing all the enemies into your cast for massive damage, then Omega Specialing through the survivors seems kinda crazy
thanks for doing the wolf howl build! :D its honestly in my top 3 hexes with eclipse/phase shift and might have the best overall upgrade tree in the game. if you get really lucky (and i mean REALLY lucky), you can build wolf howl to go off 4 times consecutively (viciousness + duality) while activating your dash boon all 4 of those times with frenzy, not to mention with the substantial damage upgrades wolf howl usually has in the path. it is really hard to set this up with a complete heph blast build tho so i usually just settle for poseidon dash with beach ball if i can.
to add to this, it sucks that wolf howl doesnt do 5 blasts (they probably did that on purpose because it would be way too broken lol, imagine 15 instant heartthrobs) but all the other dash boons proc 5 times. wish they could do something about that because while its fun as it is, it could be MORE fun. also double up works on path of stars so i love poseidon + selene runs
I think what would make vent more balanced is if they increased the damage and made it a DoT effect over like 4 seconds. That way, it still serves it's full purpose even if you only have like 1 heph boon (like the common attack with a 12 sec cooldown), but also doesn't punish the player for constantly reapplying it.
Re: Vent. Personally, I really like the vent debuff. I think it adds slightly more strategy when creating your build and fighting enemies. It's not a great debuff when using Smithy Sprint, simply cause of how often Smithy Sprint applies blast effects, but it can still be worked around when switching targets. However, with Heph's Attack and Special, it's literally free damage (and helps Origination too), unless you drill the cooldown of your attacks down to less than the trigger time of Vent, which is quite unlikely in many cases. It's one of the boons that makes Heph an amazing support god, where you have your primary damage dealing abilities from other gods, and then put a Ding Dong on one of your abilities that you can throw out once in a while for a big burst of damage.
Also to your point that the debuff should stack or do something else when re-applied, instead of resetting, I think that would just make it Blitz 2: The Better One (or just Doom from Hades 1). Blitz does like 140-160ish damage, and you have to be hitting the enemy constantly to get that damage (if you stop hitting them, the debuff goes away, unless extra boon). Vent does 300 for just having a blast effect once every 4(?) seconds. If Vent did something other than resetting, it would encourage hitting the enemies afflicted with Vent with even more Blast effects in order to capitalise on that 300 damage it does (+ more, depending on how it would behave when reapplied). If you consider all the debuffs, I think they all have a nice niche for themselves. Heph is the god of the forge, so it makes sense that his gameplay rewards good timings, just as a blacksmith would hammer steel with good rhythm in order to make it the best it can be.
Did you know you can charge smithy sprint while using the Axe Omega attack? Just dash before you use the omega attack, hold down sprint, and it charges the smithy sprint while spinning. It's a really niche interaction that has survived a few patches at this point.
I thought of a run idea that i think would be fun to watch! Discordant Bell the whole entire run, as high a fear as willing to go and any weapon/aspect. Idk if something like that has been suggested.
22:25 taking life affirmation right before the final boss on white antler is certainly... a move? either i'm missing something or you didn't think about this very hard ;)
The description of it literally says that it resets if re-applied. I'm not sure why anyone would think it's a bug. The only thing that's buggy about it is that you can't see the vent timer in any way against bosses that display the status under their HP bar instead of over their heads (which is all of them except the sirens). This boon does like 500 damage at Epic and scales well with poms; it's pretty reasonable to not let you add 500 DPS with a single boon, and it has no downside at all until you get your Heph boons to extremely low cooldown if you're using attack/special.
@@celestialspark5697 I’m not asking that it add the damage with each application, just that reapplying it doesn’t reset the timer. It wouldn’t be crazy broken, it’s just extra damage every five seconds on a low cd Heph build.

heph got the shittiest end of the stick, hera threw him off a cliff, his wife cucked him, poor guy
I read about half the reply. I'm sorry for not reading it fully. But it sounds cool!
I knew about the Aphro, Heph, and Ares thing but I didn't know about the friendship between Heph and Athena. That's dope.
ive done a video with a similar build
Greek mythology in hades= 🥰😛😅
Greek mythology in history= 💀👀😕😔🤬🤮

After this video I tried doing it myself and it was super fun, thanks for letting me discover this build
thanks for watching and giving it a try!

I think the frenzy for wolf howl is doing the un upgraded smithy sprint with no palms/ grand caldera

I was always confused how frenzy works but this looks cool!
I was confused for a little while using it, but yeah its solid!

with heroic smithy spring and witty hex thing from hermes wolf howl only run is possible, probably take forever and be boring tho lol
Is the vent thing a bug? It could never make sense of why they would design it that way so I assumed it was
no idea i hope so
