What do you think? Do you need to be in a clan to enjoy Foxhole? I get asked this question all the time, and the answer is no. But it is true that certain activities are difficult to take part in if you're not in a clan. So what can you do without them? As you will see by the end of this video - plenty! Foxhole would simply not function without clans, they are the backbone of the game essentially enabling the rest of us to enjoy it on a more casual basis. But too many players are put off because they think you MUST be a part of a clan, and there's no point in buying the game if you don't want to be. Allow me to disprove this view, in my opinion of course! What do you think?
By my expirience, you dont need a clan to be useful on the battlefield and enjoy yourself. With clan you can be HIGHLY effective. But without it? You can still affect battle just a tiny bit here and there to give it a needed push for a change. 1) Be a medic. I LOVE being a medic. And medics dont exactly need a buddy or some kind of squad, unless you are doing some kind of partisan op, and you are dedicated medic guy. On the big fronts there is ALWAYS need in medics, and those are usually lone wolfs. Getting basic knowledge of medicine in foxhole is rather easy too. And over time you learn tips and tricks that makes you better at it. But my advice? Keep SLIGHTLY behind the front line. Dont expose yourself too much. And if you can - drag wounded players to a safe spot (Preferably out of range of enemy's vision) to revive them. 2) Logistic. I do logistics from time to time. Even tho I do it alone. I usually set myself a few goals and just do them. It may be a goal of hauling a few containers of goods over long distance in a ship, or bringing Tanks\field guns to the battlefield on a flatbed, or just simply scrooping and then putting my materials into Purblic Access. Every small bit counts. 3) Partisan activities. Ofcourse, a small squad of people way more effective, but even solo, you can sometimes disrupt an enemy logistic line for quite some time, in case you find a good spot in their defences where you can slip in. I remember I was terrorizing one of the logistics roads for 40 minutes without dying, thanks to a lucky bushes around my ambush spot. 4) Being an extra hand in a crew of a tank\field gun. It's actually pretty common and rather fun. There is always people looking for gunners\drivers. 5) Building. Lone builder, if he knows how to read a map and can predict how enemy push may come can do a lot for helping their team. Frontline builders are highly sought after too, as they help to secure positions and advances of their comrades. 6) Finally, if you wanna be a lone wolf in the trenches - feel free to. Most of the infantry on the frontline arent even in squads, left alone clans. They just there to do pew-pew and stabby-stabby with bayonets. Good old fun.
i always see things like this, solo players such as me are more defensive, so i log in play logi and then when i go at the front rarelly there is a mmassive advance operation and more an attrition battle of slowly advancing or holding the position. Personally i think solo players are the reason the frontline hold more then it should since clans are more focussed on tactical operation they need someone to hold the ground so that the operation work. We are those soldiers
I always think of clans as huge, I hadn't considered that some would be quite small and you would have more say in what happens. Thanks for the suggestion!
Clan size is definitely very important. With a smaller clan your voice has more meaning and you have the chance to really get to know the people in your clan and become good freinds. On the other hand, large clans can consistently pull off large or complex operations that small clans just don't have the manpower or organization to. Large clans also almost always have something going, usually 5 or 6 people sitting in vc fighting on the frontlines or something all the time, so you can always be apart of that. It's all down to personal choice, if you wanna make good freinds and not have to deal with a lot of "clan bs", go for a smaller one, and if you want to be apart of something really spectacular and really have an effect on the war, go for a bigger one.
@@twiglets2 Thanks for making th video! Another important thing I should say is even when your part of a clan, your not limited in what you can do at all. You can be part of a clan and still do solo stuff. Being in a clan doesn't limit players at all.
Also remember, this is an open world game. You are free to do anything. I've participated in bicycle races with artillery shells raining down around me. There's all sorts of fun stuff you can do.
they ignore their own clan members its usually a tanker boys club of 5 good friends who dominate a mic, trying to press gang randoms to do their logi work even after the recruit explains he will only join the reg to play as infantry they will say "we love infantry players" but its a lie
Nice guide! Asking around in Foxhole or rather talking to other players in general will get you far. I love the game for the voice chat and it feels like 99% of players are using voice, unlike in any other game, because coordinating with the group of random people you'll end up at the front, or any hex, is the key to achive anything.
I think the better question to ask is is it more fun in a clan... as a child the thought of going to an amusement park sounded so fun. Now that I have experienced that many times over I realised there ain't nothing fun in standing in lines for hours for a few mere minutes of "fun".
The most fun I've had in Foxhole is being a lone wolf, scraping together infantry grenadier teams to turn the tide... even if it's only for another 10 minutes. There's no greater feeling than clearing 10 enemies out of a trench with nothing but a few Loughcasters, 2 frags, a trusty bayonet, and a gaggle of privates out for blood and glory. Other times, I've worked with other newbies to help hammer out a FOB just in time to fend of a night attack, killed enemy warships as a Silverhand hull gunner, and listened to a man play bagpipes as we sprinted with only a single mammon to our names. Clans can be nice, but I've found the most fun comes from the spontaneous courage of randoms with a fight to win.
I have played a couple hundred hours clanless and a couple hundred hours in clans. I recommend joining up clans tend to be happy to have casual players in them and it let's you dip into their stockpile for the expensive fun stuff. Good clans to join if Warden are 187th, CLA, or CAF. Good clans to join if colonial are 77th, 1CMD, or SOM
Had a similar experiance to your mortar story. Had an artillery gun and a random pallet of shells, pulled a Cpl and no rank off the street and got them to help shell the colonials back while they were crossing the bridge in the Baths. In a couple hours when we finished our team grew to 7 with 3 gunners, 2 loaders, a person constantly getting more shells and me spotting. By the time we were finished the colonials were crippled and secured the hex the next day
As a solo player for a year foxhole is still fun honestly but only if you're willing to work / cooperate with other players, and also It is important that you shouldn't SOLO a tank for yourself cause that's just a waste of your time and materials to be honest. you will still have fun with solo but you don't have that much options since foxhole is a multiplayer game after all, but when i joined a clan i was able to do more stuff in a larger scale and a bit more fun than usual.
I often see new solo players on Frontlines doing their best to help while having fun and in the 5 years I've played Foxhole, 99% of the time if someone halfway experienced takes charge of the group (without being a d*ck), they can achieve a lot. I've personally already had quite a number of new players coming to me and asking question, why one weapon is better than the other in the given situation or straight up thanking me for taking charge. This is one of the very few things that hasn't changed in Foxhole since it's first release on steam. I highly encourage other Veterans of the game (even if you're clanned up) to just take some time to go solo on Frontlines and work with the randoms, it can be some of the most fun and rewarding gameplay foxhole can offer.
Solo player here, currently preparing to launch a full scale naval invasion, no shortcuts taken, I regularly build tanks and crew them with randos. Solo is viable.
Can I just clarify, is this naval invasion by yourself? I assume not, but the idea of you charging and yelling out of a boat towards the enemy on your own is fun
I think he means supplied through his own effort. It's not possible to do an effective invasion without gathering people first as you can't get the spawn to activate without at least 10 people being present at first.
I do Logi as a lone wolf. I haven't played long but I would say the over arching problem with the game is the lack of cohesion through the entire army and within separate theaters of the map. When I started playing I thought the point was to win the war, but this seems to not even be on the radar. Yesterday there was an attack on Bath and reactionary is all I could say. Then the day before it was west push point and a reaction again. Simply no over all direction causing a flow between units and individuals. A unit structure with individual units and independents for those not wanting to join would be more productive IMO.
yes it's an interesting conundrum. I'm surprised that Foxhole works as well as it does, which is entirely down to the players who commit a lot of time to the game. But there's only so much cohesion a small group of dedicated players can create. I'm not sure what the answer is, but an interesting point to mul over none the less!
A clan is great in that Foxhole can often feel a bit overwhelming, and having a familiar group of people to talk to to help you learn the game and streamline the learning process and overcome the high learning curve of the game is great! However, you don't need a clan to learn, so long as you communicate via chat there will always be people online who will be willing to answer your question. I always suggest asking questions and not being afraid to speak up if you are confused about something - hell, this game's learning curve is nuts, and most of the vets playing (including myself) have learned extensively (if not primarily) through asking lots of questions and asking for help. I just prefer a clan because it's easier to organize, construct and maintain large, organized complexes with a group of people than by yourself (it's downright near impossible to do, and would be soul-sucking if done solo).
lol I don't get people who don't want to join a clan, it's SUUUPER EASY and there is no obligations in 99% of them, especially for the newbies, you can enjoy the game with the tag and have acssess to higher amount of stuff, nobody can force you to do something, just find the one that fits you, maybe you actually needed the high organization to be part of the bigger stuff for example; I have met a LOT of silent people ingame, most of them are really nice, they follow you for the advice and do what you ask them to make something playout for the fun, effectively they have been part of the clan, but just didn't have discord, clan tag and in the end were free to move.
It's an intimidating prospect to join a clan, but you've made me slightly braver so I'm thinking about it now. I'll do some more thinking while in the trenches
I’ll be honest, I’m a clan type of person but being in a clan isn’t needed. I know many people without clans and they have fun so it’s totally up to preference
Excellent, do you mind if I ask some questions about being in a clan? What do you find yourself doing most of the time? I like the idea of being in a clan so when I log on there are others already doing something, setting up 4 x artillery guns, or putting tanks together for a big push etc. But is it really like that?
@@twiglets2 sorry for the late reply. I'm in the 753rd and I am the partisan company Commander. I usually just do partisan stuff but when we have ops my job is usually to get Intel on the enemy lines. Playing in a regiment gives me a better chance to do partisan with good gear
@@twiglets2 me nor my partisan buddy (who’s much better than me) have ever set up a bb behind enemy lines. If it is really needed we will either Over-encumber ourselves or take a Jeep. I have taken a truck probably once. It really depends on what your attempting to do with it. If it’s to set up watch towers I would use a Jeep. If it’s just to scout or disrupt logi I’ll just walk and if it’s mammoning pillboxes or dead ai ill either bring a Jeep or a truck. It really depends on how your feeling what what your doing. Tho I definitely wouldn’t set any bb’s up
@@spence_teddy1563 Thanks for clarifying, partisan is a bit of a mystical art where it's difficult to understand what you do and how. What you mention above is very helpful!
Its a common mis-conception that in order to join a clan that you need to play the game a lot. Most clans are just happy you log on at all. There has always been a push by the DEVs to say Foxhole does not require you to be in a clan, however what they should say is "If you dont care about actually effecting the war, then you dont need to join a clan" not saying Randoms dont do it but its the exception not the rule. Foxhole rewards teamwork more than any other game, so if you want the most out of the game than joining a clan is advisable and shouldn't be viewed is making a huge commitment. 82DK offers all new players basic training in Logi, Infantry, Engineering, Tanks and Artillery without any pressure to join.
I must confess I have felt I don't have the time to commit to a clan but it's refreshing to hear not all clans require a certain amount of your time each week and at certain times. Perhaps I'll look a bit more closely now!
It's also more fun if you can do open comms, instead of using the text chat. I've managed to claw myself up to 2LT and I tell you it's better to have a someone directing an infantry push through trenches than just Pvts and Cpls recklessly rushing forward. And people tend to listen to the speaking man than the chatting player
Not only a speaking man giving orders, sometimes you get a real enthusiast yelling passionately and blowing a whistle - one of the many reasons I love this game!
i just left my clan XD i joined barely a month ago. so to keep it short, no , you dont, i did 1300hrs before joining a clan, and barely made 100 in the clan. i prefer to roam freely, connect when i feel like it , not feel obliged to do daily chores to "do my part". i mostly try to get the random infantry organised, sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. you can obviouulsy deploy a whole lot more ressources as a clan but i dont mind doing the small things for the general public, including logi.
Interesting to hear that the clan didn't work for you. Did they expect you to play more with them? Do you manage to use artillery when it's just you? I'd like to set up and operate artillery but it seems too much for me and my two buddies on our own.
@@twiglets2 i operated arty way before joining any clan, same as joining a tank crew, you will find plenty looking for crew. but often that means an hours long commitment, thats why vets tend to refuse. arty needs loaders, needs people to use a truck to pull shells from the bb and transfer them to the guns. spotters and gunners are quickly filled roles, finding vols (volunteers) for the less glamourous part of the job is hard.
I am a pro soloist. Basically, the only thing I would not recommend, after having tried it myself, is building a large facility capable of doing all tasks with defenses. You end up in a cycle where you are stuck doing garrison supplies, and can't even use the facility you have built. While I got a LITTLE use out of it, it couldn't justify its existence with just me using it. I did have people come and use my facilities, but all in all I felt like I expended way too much effort for too little return. If you are going to build facilities as a soloist, I highly recommend you specialize, even though you won't get a hold of all the cool stuff you want. As for the upper limits, do not exceed five small bases, though I would not tackle more than three if you don't want to be enslaved to them. Pay attention to your garrison supply expenses, and when you can try to make the base not require more than one truck load a day. If you are building one big base, then you can afford a bigger expense. I also highly recommend building what the team NEEDS over what you WANT, and if you want to avoid heartache, simply align those two goals together. For example, if you want to make a base that stores your vehicles, give it a secondary function such as guarding an important choke point, having a well-placed Storm Cannon or Intel Center, or protecting a facility. All in all, building in this game takes far more dedication than the other roles, because you must constantly maintain those bases with garrison supplies. This means you have to keep playing Foxhole at least once a day for the entire war.
Im a new player and having tons of fun. I have a feeling that half of the work, bigger operations and so on are clans, while the other half are just random people (like me lol) who do seemingly random or insignificant things, but they are a part of the hive. What would the 3 tanks do without a bunch of random foot soldiers, even unintentionally providing cover and keeping enemies from just grenading the shit out of them? One thing I miss in Foxhole are really, really big coordinated operations. 100 people large with designated smaller groups each with their commanders. Maybe I'm just yet to see that but I think if there were people capable to organise effectively, like in a real military, any front could be just smacked.
@araen11 it's such a great game and my experience is similar to yours. I do think it needs more coordination so that players who aren't in clans can more easily take part in an operation. It would need to be done in a certain way I'm sure, and I'm not saying it would be easy to get the balance right, but helping non clan players take part in the bigger picture can only be a good move for Foxhole!
In my opinion, you don't even need to do these to enjoy the game. Simply join a busy front line grab/loot a gun with a few clips and off you go. A simple guy running and throwing grenades into enemy tranches could be bigger fun and sometimes even more useful than a new player getting lost or ambushed alone with a full logi.
I don't really run with the clans/regements. been trying to find an active one but joining discord groups is a little out of my comfort zone. I Primarily run front line medic, which is perfect for solo players. just help pick up men as they fall. and you feel like your contributing by saving front line resources. so far I've saved 300+ lives and Im pretty high rank. but the thrill of a good save is mmm perfect.
i make way more friends with frontline randoms, reg chats can be sweaty. you will not be best friends with all your big reg members but you will have a roster of players some who you might enjoy their company. the goal is to network with players you prefer and joining a reg gives more opportunities to meet them. be sure your reg respects the boundaries you set with the recruiter. its common to have a squad of mixed reg players when there are no current reg ops.
Yes and no, you dont need clans to enjoy the game but anything more than needing a few people will be significantly harder to pull off because you dont have a man power pool to draw from vs clans do. E.g. Landing ship, yes anyone with 100 rmat can make a landing ship, throw in couple hundred shirts, guns, ammo, HE, AT and you have a bare minimal landing ship but now you need 10 people coming with you on barges and set spawn so your LS turns into a world spawn. For larger clan, 10 is easy to get, some will even have upward of 30 people plus tanks coming with the LS to kick off the landing so the landing dont get overwhelmed by QRF if people dont spawn in fast enough.
*me that does Logi alone and get lot of commandation without touching a rifle ones in 3 hours of game and then i decide to go at the front with just a pistol because i don't want to waste the preciouse stocks i just putted* "you guys play with clans?"
NEVER EVER move or touch the arty gun without permission, especially when it’s already zeroed in. Majority of the time when you join you will be a loader, spotting needs to have abit more experience as you have to account for wind and the distance and targets you be aiming
And this is the type of "fun" we expect new players to feed off of? Sure the first time or two might be fun. But if you think majority are going to think being an errand boy is fun, then I have some ocean front property outside of phoenix to sell you.
I have been playing Foxhole since it has been a demo and can safely say you do not need to join a clan. usually I find clans to have the most toxic and try hard people who take all the fun out of the game.
Interesting you mention the toxic side of the game. Potential new players also say they hear there is a lot of toxicity in the game but I myself have never seen it! I can only assume it's within the clans.
clan people are not toxic more than non clan people. I find that clan people tend to be more nice because they are representing there faction. there is always a bad apple but 1 persons actions should not = the whole clan is bad
@@patwig9369 I have been team killed on purpose by more clan members then not, I got killed once for telling one to calm down because the was yelling at a new player for not using a anti tank weapon correctly

Thanks for sharing your story, that was fun to read! I hope other new players see it and it shows them how much fun the game is by just asking someone if they need help!
i'm a new player. i play in charlie, solo all the time. do logi stuff (deliver items to the frontline) sometimes partake in frontline war with other people. i prefer not to be tied to a clan and just do stuff that i enjoy in my own pace. besides, imo. in this kind of game, no matter how small your contribution, it will affect the war. so yeah
I like your sentiment my friend. May I ask what you do when you do logi on your own? I like to do logi alone, but often feel overwhelmed and unsure what to do, or how to do it. I usually just end up delivering Bmats somewhere that seems to need it!
@@twiglets2 i take the car (if there is none, i make the car in garage), i fill the car with bmats from refinery (if there is none, i gather the scrap first), i go to factory, and then make stuffs that the frontline needed. or if they don't state anything specific, i usually like to supply shirts and bandages or anything that is low in quantity. then i deliver it. maybe not the most efficient way, but hey it's the charlie shard (where it's filled with newbies) 😅
We are a small Clan [BUDz] on Baker shard and have a LOT of fun and everyone then can be part of the team and suggestions , we still plan and have great battle :) when i was in a Big clan i felt lost and just a number
@@twiglets2 Yes are based out of the same location and always fight in the South sector this war we are based in in Acrithia - makes more sense to me to fight in the same sector and push rather than fighting in all different sectors :)
Imo you don't need a clan, but you should work with them. But, if you are new to the game, try to grind out some ranks first before being too social, through logistics. Doing logistics buys a lot of respect really quickly.
No, you dont need to be in a clan to enjoy the game. That being said, yes there are limitations on what you and a handful of friends can achieve. Building and managing a factory? No, go play factoria. Conqueror and hold and entire region? No, go play total war. This is FOXHOLE. The entire point of the game is that you are just a single soldier, in a larger conflict. Yes, it does take team work and larger, organized groups to make a greater difference. No, it does not mean that what you do is insignificant or that you cant have an impact. You are a piece of the puzzle, and in foxhole, every piece is important, but you are not a solo hero. Want to help supply the frontline? Grab a hammer and get some salvage. Want to throw the enemy out of the region? Grab a rifle and join the charge. Want to shell the enemy? Grab some bois and man a 120mm. You can have fun, loads of it, and dont need to engage in the more complicated BS that us clan bois get ourselves into to have it ;) . But the most important thing that you can do, is to play and make up your own mind. Give it a FAIR shot, and you may be impressed in what you find.
As a random, I play by myself and generally order people and especially clans what to do 🤷🏻♂️. So I do a lot of command work and strategy shit. And I play by myself . Not everyone is geared for leadership. Especially some fake leaders out there xD running noobie island is fun too.
Same experience, no need to join one, but you still need to cooperate with others, clans are fun and all, but they require time, and honestly, i dont like to be tied to one
It's not like there is a shortage of people on the front line willing to cooperate. Though I must admit I've come to loath a bridge battle, I assume they're only fun if you have 50 other soldiers ready to storm the other side with you.
Iv been playing Foxhole since the day it came out in 2017. 4.3k hours Brigadier General lvl 23 and have never been in a clan. You absolutely don’t need to be in a clan to join foxhole. Most things you can just hop into and people will accept you
@oxerful5426 What do you think of the game as a whole at the moment? I've taken a break for a while, not because I hate it or anything, I'm waiting to see what the developers come up with next, so I'm curious how you think the game is at the moment.
Solo players are the gigachads in the game. Clans bow to the solo player who have proven their worth. There are rare instances where i've seen large clans (even multiple) pour out their own resources just so they help the solo player be efficient.
The only real thing you can do without a clan is to run around as an infantryman and to scrap. Clans aren't just a crowd of assholes that rob non-clan players and hi-jack their vehicles, they also have a clan leader that can make everyone else to work together. A tank is more than just the vehicle and its crew, it takes a long-long time to make alone and requires a full truck of supply crates and a fuel truck to even be combat-ready. Someone has to deliver all of that from the backline and you might aswell not bother asking logi, because they are not interested in anyone but their clan masters. Crewing the vehicle itself isn't so bad but the problem is that you can't trust the random people you pick up. They might be from a different country and speak a different language, or they might be a plain old griefer who just wastes your shells, most commonly of all they could be somebody who doesn't know what they are doing and that causes you to lose your vehicle. Partisaning alone or with two of your friends is doable but is extremely monotonous and time-consuming. Players absolutely hate partisans in Foxhole and will go to great lengths to hunt them down even if they have to abandon what they were doing. To have a non-zero impact it takes hours of lying in wait and a significant amount of just running around mostly empty regions to scout out which bases have AI so that you know where to bring explosives, and that's not even mentioning how horrible it is to drive the supplies you need from backline because you can bet your last dollar that the local bases won't have satchels, listening kits and scout uniforms.
@@twiglets2 Honestly, I don't know. So far for me the game actually gets worse with every update. I don't even play frontline anymore. When I play the game it's usually just mining public scrap and components. In inferno they made it so the entire game revolves around clans and their squad lock. You actually can't make tanks outside the most basic variants unless you are in a clan because suqad locking requires at least 3 players in the game. Without squad lock clanners will simply loot your facility of all its materials when you are sleeping. I actually tried to use them with another person and we almost got to the point of mass-producing public battle tanks, but the guy didn't log on for one day and the next time I rolled by to see what resources were needed I spotted a clan train with 5 people loading our stuff. I never even tried doing anything with facilities since. I don't know if Siege Camp even wants anything fixed. They seem to have decided to switch to catering entirely to clans and everyone who isn't in one just gets bent. This has been the trend for years at this point, long before Inferno and artillery update. This game is just not designed for solo people and is barely playable when you have 3. It's not even the question of squad locks, it's that to get all of the gear that you need to actually get things done you need a separate crew that will source it. If you run out of tank fuel nobody is going to get it for you. If you need specialist equipment for partisaning you better have some in reserve stockpile. If you want a tank you better be ready to spend the next 3 hours fighting over components with 10 other people who need them and then wait 7 hours for them to refine. I can't tolerate this anymore, I've been playing this game for so many years that I am just done. The steam trailers lie to you. This game isn't about teamwork. Everyone is out for themselves. You can't expect anyone to give you anything outside the most basic equipment just so that you have means to hold out against the other side. All those vids about epic charges and winning - that's all for clans. You, a pleb, get to grind scrap for 10 hours to lose all of it in 30 minutes.
@@BIGESTblade thank you for your honest assessment. If you don't mind me asking, which games do you enjoy as an alternative? It would be useful for me to know which games foxhole players are interested in!
@@twiglets2 Well, my favourite game is Arma. I am not playing it anymore because I am bored of the 3rd game and waiting for the 4th one. I wish Foxhole was like Arma, now that's where teamwork is the actual thing. There are clans there too but they play their own missions and don't bother anyone else. There's no resources so nobody competes for anything and doesn't steal stuff, usually at least. Another game that compares to foxhole that I love is Planetside 2. Played it since release in 2010 and it's great fun, as of recently it even has foxhole-like base building. Otherwise it's similar, still has infantry mass-charges, tactical teamwork and clans. But there's no competition for resources so clanners aren't this enormous problem. They are still hated by a whole bunch of people but nowhere near the degree to which people hate foxhole clans. Foxhole is basically the only MMO I still play and I don't think I'll ever really stop unless Siege Camp actually legalizes clan-owned resource field. If I can't even scrap without being in a clan I will quit. Otherwise I don't really play any games that are similar to foxhole. I love sea of thieves even though I don't have anyone to play it with regularly. Another thing Nebulous: Fleet Command, basically hardcore Homeworld. X series of anarcho-capitalist space sims. Some Darktide when I am in the mood for people flaming me for not using meta builds.
Ah yes! It was one of the first things I did outside of simply using a rifle. I'm annoyed I didn't think of that, but thank you for mentioning it Mr Orlov.
@@dankasscrow6121 have you tried maintaining one by yourself? It's beyond ridiculous and I just mine rmats and spam tanks to the front but now not only do I need to get the rmats I need additional facilities to create multiple different resources and maintaining a facility its unbelievably tedious and time consuming
that is not true. the old logi is still in the game and is exactly the same. you can build a solo facility but you're not supposed to make everything, you need to specialize your facility. it can even run on its own if you build it properly
That surprises me, I hear people all the time! Sometimes you go 10 minutes without hearing someone, but most of the time so many people are talking it's difficult to understand anything.
Sometimes your voice chat can be disabled by accident or through a game error! It happens more often than you'd think as the backend voice infrastructure struggles to handle the number of people in Foxhole servers at once. Try hitting the "u" key or going to "Options/Voice/Reconnect" in the Esc menu. If all else fails restart the game.
@@jenswaring1682 Thanks for the advice, a friend of mine has been struggling with this so I will let him know. I'm sure this will be helpful for others too :)
Well said my friend!
I just love being that one guy with a pistol that manages to kill four guys in a trench by myself.
i always see things like this, solo players such as me are more defensive, so i log in play logi and then when i go at the front rarelly there is a mmassive advance operation and more an attrition battle of slowly advancing or holding the position. Personally i think solo players are the reason the frontline hold more then it should since clans are more focussed on tactical operation they need someone to hold the ground so that the operation work. We are those soldiers
I play in a clan but honestly it's very fun to join a smaller clan that will take your ideas and put it to action
@@brandonfurr7080 Wise words sir - thank you for taking the time to comment
@@twiglets2 Thanks for making th video! Another important thing I should say is even when your part of a clan, your not limited in what you can do at all. You can be part of a clan and still do solo stuff. Being in a clan doesn't limit players at all.
fortunately im mostly ignored by my clan but flying a big flag can deter infantry haters from TKing me.
Also remember, this is an open world game. You are free to do anything. I've participated in bicycle races with artillery shells raining down around me. There's all sorts of fun stuff you can do.
Haha now that's given me a few ideas - thanks for sharing!
People tend to ignore randoms and think clans are the ones who do all the work but randoms are a very integral part of foxhole.
The majority of my good times in Foxhole have been with randoms, particularly with a bayonet
they ignore their own clan members its usually a tanker boys club of 5 good friends who dominate a mic, trying to press gang randoms to do their logi work even after the recruit explains he will only join the reg to play as infantry they will say "we love infantry players" but its a lie
Nice guide! Asking around in Foxhole or rather talking to other players in general will get you far. I love the game for the voice chat and it feels like 99% of players are using voice, unlike in any other game, because coordinating with the group of random people you'll end up at the front, or any hex, is the key to achive anything.
I couldn't agree more, just a little bit of voice chat can lead to many great missions!
You had me at bagpipes
I have played a couple hundred hours clanless and a couple hundred hours in clans. I recommend joining up clans tend to be happy to have casual players in them and it let's you dip into their stockpile for the expensive fun stuff.
Good clans to join if Warden are 187th, CLA, or CAF. Good clans to join if colonial are 77th, 1CMD, or SOM
there is no such thing as a good colonial
Thanks for the recommendations!
I just prefer a clan because it's easier to organize, construct and maintain large, organized complexes with a group of people than by yourself (it's downright near impossible to do, and would be soul-sucking if done solo).
lol
I don't get people who don't want to join a clan, it's SUUUPER EASY and there is no obligations in 99% of them, especially for the newbies, you can enjoy the game with the tag and have acssess to higher amount of stuff, nobody can force you to do something, just find the one that fits you, maybe you actually needed the high organization to be part of the bigger stuff
for example;
I have met a LOT of silent people ingame, most of them are really nice, they follow you for the advice and do what you ask them to make something playout for the fun, effectively they have been part of the clan, but just didn't have discord, clan tag and in the end were free to move.

Not only a speaking man giving orders, sometimes you get a real enthusiast yelling passionately and blowing a whistle - one of the many reasons I love this game!
very nice video. As someone who took a break from the game and wants to return, this was exactly what i needed to hear
@Yee20234 Thank you, I'm glad it was useful!
i just left my clan XD i joined barely a month ago. so to keep it short, no , you dont, i did 1300hrs before joining a clan, and barely made 100 in the clan. i prefer to roam freely, connect when i feel like it , not feel obliged to do daily chores to "do my part".
i mostly try to get the random infantry organised, sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. you can obviouulsy deploy a whole lot more ressources as a clan but i dont mind doing the small things for the general public, including logi.

It would need to be done in a certain way I'm sure, and I'm not saying it would be easy to get the balance right, but helping non clan players take part in the bigger picture can only be a good move for Foxhole!
to enjoy? no
to be effective? almost definitely
My bayonet is fun, but admittedly it can only do so much. Must be awesome to be part of a big clan operation though.
Solo players especially are important since they make up the gum of our forces and logi, public logi is underated for sure
Absolutely, some of the best times are with a rifle and some determination. A bayonet helps too :D
Gotta admit one of my first "wow" moments on Foxhole was when I realised you could carry injured soldiers to safety, such a cool mechanic!
Join a clan guys, try to find one that fits your style. This game is meant to play as a clan, team.
I play with whoever is online when I am I don’t feel the need to commit to a clan because you can pretty much find one doing stuff and just help out.
That's great, it sounds like you're comfortable talking to people. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, depending on how brave I'm feeling!
You have the right sentiment.
i make way more friends with frontline randoms, reg chats can be sweaty. you will not be best friends with all your big reg members but you will have a roster of players some who you might enjoy their company. the goal is to network with players you prefer and joining a reg gives more opportunities to meet them. be sure your reg respects the boundaries you set with the recruiter. its common to have a squad of mixed reg players when there are no current reg ops.
I once overheard someone being scolded for messing with somebody else's base.
You won't catch me messing with other people's stuff that's for sure!
And this is the type of "fun" we expect new players to feed off of? Sure the first time or two might be fun. But if you think majority are going to think being an errand boy is fun, then I have some ocean front property outside of phoenix to sell you.
@@D.Snutts either way someone needs to load the gun That’s how they work
I have been playing Foxhole since it has been a demo and can safely say you do not need to join a clan. usually I find clans to have the most toxic and try hard people who take all the fun out of the game.

That's cool, so you end up getting heavily involved with others, but that's because you're happy being vocal with strangers and coming up with a plan?
Well if u whant u can join birbs gang to enjoy more
Same experience, no need to join one, but you still need to cooperate with others, clans are fun and all, but they require time, and honestly, i dont like to be tied to one
It's not like there is a shortage of people on the front line willing to cooperate. Though I must admit I've come to loath a bridge battle, I assume they're only fun if you have 50 other soldiers ready to storm the other side with you.
@@twiglets2 bridges are boring, plain and simple, unless there's arty abd tanks is just target practice for the defenders
Iv been playing Foxhole since the day it came out in 2017. 4.3k hours Brigadier General lvl 23 and have never been in a clan. You absolutely don’t need to be in a clan to join foxhole. Most things you can just hop into and people will accept you
I'm glad to hear you say that sir!
I played all of war 100 without a clan and was kinda bored playing the game. I've joined one for war 101, and am having far more fun
@oxerful5426 What do you think of the game as a whole at the moment? I've taken a break for a while, not because I hate it or anything, I'm waiting to see what the developers come up with next, so I'm curious how you think the game is at the moment.
@@twiglets2 I think it's pretty fun, that said I don't know how it was before, as I have only had the game since the end of war 99
@@oxerful5426 Interesting, thanks for letting me know!
Solo players are the gigachads in the game. Clans bow to the solo player who have proven their worth. There are rare instances where i've seen large clans (even multiple) pour out their own resources just so they help the solo player be efficient.
How might one prove their worth? This sounds rare!
Ah The Crazy Mammoneers
It's like watching a flock of birds, with many explosions and death at the end.
@BIGESTblade it's a sad state of affairs. Is there anything they can do to improve the situation?
I personally don't like being in a clan. I feel limited whenever i join one.
Being Lone Wolf is more entertaining imo
When someone says they're a lone wolf I usually assume that means they usual play Partisan, is that a bad assumption?
@@twiglets2 Not at all
You forgot to mention playing a medic, or any other frontline role
Ah yes! It was one of the first things I did outside of simply using a rifle. I'm annoyed I didn't think of that, but thank you for mentioning it Mr Orlov.
Clan Man Bad
Yes! You need clan, with recent update you cant use factories, railways, or stockpile without authorized from clan. Or else you will get shoot.
Really?!
The addition of facilities has killed the solo player base the game is for clans only now it sucks
Solo facilities are a thing.
@@dankasscrow6121 Facilities? I think I'm behind the times now
@@dankasscrow6121 have you tried maintaining one by yourself? It's beyond ridiculous and I just mine rmats and spam tanks to the front but now not only do I need to get the rmats I need additional facilities to create multiple different resources and maintaining a facility its unbelievably tedious and time consuming
that is not true. the old logi is still in the game and is exactly the same. you can build a solo facility but you're not supposed to make everything, you need to specialize your facility. it can even run on its own if you build it properly
Because people's don't build public facilities.
Playing as Wardens and saying there is no need for clans. 🤡
i rarely heard someone talk in my 6 hours of playtime sofar
That surprises me, I hear people all the time! Sometimes you go 10 minutes without hearing someone, but most of the time so many people are talking it's difficult to understand anything.
Sometimes your voice chat can be disabled by accident or through a game error! It happens more often than you'd think as the backend voice infrastructure struggles to handle the number of people in Foxhole servers at once. Try hitting the "u" key or going to "Options/Voice/Reconnect" in the Esc menu. If all else fails restart the game.
