This is Angelina Jordan the most extraordinary storyteller in my lifetime.
Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. I was in that tv-studio when AJ entered. I find it strange that nobody seems to care that she also did another song: a splended rendition of her own "LDLMG" - that for some unknown reason was cut in the editing before the program was broadcast !!!

I agree 100%. And I’ve said the same thing several times. Angelina will always have incredibly devoted fans (like me), but she will not have wide ranging fame because she doesn’t try to or want to appeal to the flavor of the day. Angelina is easily the best singer I’ve ever heard, and I realized that when she was 12.
I don’t know any singers past or present who cover so many genres so beautifully and so authentically. She takes on the best singers singing their best songs, and I usually like Angelina’s take better: I Put a Spell on You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Yellow Brick Road, Easy on Me, Feelin Good, etc, etc. If you haven’t seen her recent performance of Unchained Melody with a full orchestra behind her at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize presentation, get yourself ready to be blown away.
She is not a person to be on stage practically Naked. Ever Artis now is doing the Semi Nude thing. Everything is just about Sexual Identification

Cecilia, I listened to the full video and your remarks at the end were well taken. Your assumptions, of course, were opinions and I have to disagree and I'll tell you why. Angelina is a once in a lifetime artist with a voice which touches people's hearts AND, anyone who listens to her will never forget her performances. Yes, there are many wonderful artists we can listen to in our world but what makes Angelina so distinctly different is 'who she is'. She is a very humble, kind, caring and loving human being and all of that comes through when we hear her sing 'for us'. Yes, Cecilia, she sings 'for us' rather than just to us. She has never appeared nervous singing in front of people since she was 7 years old because, poise and confidence aside, personal gratification is not something at the top of the list she wants things to be. She wants us to feel happy when she sings for the masses, to always feel hope and especially to feel the love in her heart. When people applaud her performance she is so happy because she knows they enjoyed her performance and that means everything to her. In regards to the reasons why she will never connect to everyone, I understand what you mean and your thesis has a lot of merit BUT, it doesn't apply to Angelina. SHE HAS NO BOUNDARIES: Gender, age, color, language, religion, occupation, wealth, musical preference, it doesn't make any difference. She touches people's hearts and that rap lover will sit next to an opera lover and they will both rejoice when they listen to her sing AND GET A FEELING INSIDE THEM WHICH, IN MOST CASES, THEY CANNOT DEFINE WHAT IS GOING ON, except to say, it is a wonderful feeling, something many of them have never felt like before in their lives. With all my heart I believe there will be a day, sooner than later, whereby everyone in the world will know who Angelina Jordan is. She is all about love and is sharing it with humanity and she has been quoted as saying for us to make the world a better place to live for everyone we must begin to love one another. You suggested for people who hadn't discovered her yet to play some of your earlier video's where you go into detail of where she has come from, etc., Wonderful idea, and believe me, Angelina will take it from there. All your reasons you mention for AJ becoming a Superstar are in fact my reasons why she will not make it “Big” . I hope she does make it big but sometimes I hope she doesn’t. Big Stardom crushes people in the music industry and I would hate for that to happen to her.
@@jimbinder7472 Wow. Jim, stardom and celebrity will not have a negative affect on her. There is no doubt the music industry has a very down side to it but Angelina will survive and perhaps her influence of love and goodness in general will have a positive affect on music's direction into the future. I know I cannot change the way you think but because she is such a beautiful and wonderful human being and all about love, she is here to share her love with us and she will never stray away from the reason she is with us. To sing 'for us' and by using her voice as her instrument, to bring love to anyone who listens to her sing. Lastly, I know what you mean in reference to making it Big. You are suggesting Angelina is a special singer who attracts a particular audience and will not get the attention of people who prefer other kinds of music. In my comment I pointed out people from every walk of life and who prefer particular music will come aboard with us. Why? Because she is impossible to resist. I know we love the covers she has recorded and we will continue to play the video's forever, BUT, expect a flow of original material to start coming out sooner than later and the message in all her work will be reasons to feel love in one's heart.

The music industry has destroyed lots of wonderful people. I love AJ and the wonderful young lady she has become. We will see what the future brings. Thank you Cecilia for a great and enlightening commentary on this Angelina rendition of the great Whitney Houston. It will be fascinating (and ready is) how Angalina navigates the music industry. Fortunately she records as a Republic Records artist. Republic has the reputation as the most artist-centric label there is as well as the most successful.
I am very glad that she chose not to sign with Disney as a small child when they apparently approached her.
Another advantage Angelina has is her Angels (the name she chose for her fans) who are here to support her with our whole hearts on her entire journey. 🥰💞💕♥

I think it’s totally fair to knock the mainstream a bit. Unfortunately a lot of the mainstream doesn’t appreciate the texture, nuances, details, techniques of an artist like Angelina. Everyone is now used to the artificial sound of auto tuned and pitch corrected vocals which have lost their character. It’s such a shame.
For Angelina to connect with the younger mainstream audience it will have to first be through her songs. As the audience grows a little older then they may really begin to appreciate her as a vocalist. And at that time a lot of the current “stars” may have been forgotten.
Absolutely you add a lot of value: I really enjoyed your reaction and insightful comments... I think you are right about Angelina being "timeless" and very much in her own lane.... as to just how "big" she gets we'll see but she is not going to rise and then fall I feel sure.... she is a great talent and give much pleasure to many whether she reaches super-stardom or not.

Every reaction to Angelina is welcome, as it helps to bring the artist to the world, but I admit that I do get a bit impatient with reactors who make little or no attempt to get to know the artist's background or that of the particular performance. For instance, one of Angelina's greatest gifts is her intense emotive skill, which she can adapt perfectly to suit any song she sings. A poignant example was the profound gentleness and reverence which she infused into her performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, making it so stunningly appropriate to the melancholy of the occasion. Not knowing the background story would make it difficult to appreciate the full impact of that performance. So thank you also for your thoroughness.

I didn't actually intend to suggest that you react to "Unchained Melody", but if you plan to, might I respectfully suggest that you consider the brilliantly constructed video by James Thiel (th-cam.com/video/T6iqTCPeIF4/w-d-xo.html), which provides not only a high-quality production of the actual performance but also gives us a beautiful synopsis of the background story. She imparts the embodiment of a mother, in prison in Iran, crying out a message of love, longing and hope to her children, sitting there in the audience.

Also, the majority of the singers right now. Are all satanic the words that a lot of their music that they sing is awful and they sing evil stuff and Angelina is not part of any of that, so it's good that she stays right in her own lane and right where she's at. Until these evil doers are gone because the music industry will take her down if she lets them. But obviously we know she won't let that happen and her family will not let that happened either. She's too good of a person and she will not stoop to their level. And she's got all the time in the world. She's still young. She will be a legend in her own right.

Nice to have you back. If I may, there is a video her Mom made called "10 Years In The Making" where Angelina talks a little bit about her journey and her Vegas concert. There are a few short snippets of the concert in there but mainly is behind the scenes. Notice 3 words she keeps repeating.
She sang "Unchained melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize presentation which was professionally recorded and live. I think one of her best efforts and you will love the end of this song---I think d-3 to g-5 (right up your alley).
Someone gave you the 2 sites for her Vegas recordings but I recommend Joey Farr's Diamonds Are Forever extended version. It has the bands 2min intro to her entrance but more importantly it has her welcoming her fans which I think is a must see and goes back to your mention of her uniqueness. My favorites are When WE Were Young, and One Moment In Time-do uncut 4k James Thiel version and this was the 38th and final song of the 2 sets (OMIT). Taylor thanks for returning to provide your analysis for another performance by Angelina Jordan. We angels are perfectly fine with your gushing over Angelina, who turned 18 back on January 10th. The artists who are the most popular are typically pop stars, such as Taylor Swift. That is just the way it is, but when there is a VERY important event which requires a vocalist, I have no doubt Angelina will be the one invited most often.

About her music and the mainstream acceptance, you need to check out her original songs on her EP "OLD ENOUGH", like "Good in Goodbyes", "Diamond", "Fire and Rain", "Now I'm the Fool" and "Love don't d Let me Go". And also her most recent release "Our Time". These songs shows her effort to reach a new layer of listeners, mixing her jazzy timeless vibes with a modern pop style, without losing her unique characteristics as a singer and creator.

If and when you react to Angelina's EP originals I'd be interested in knowing if you'd feel the same about Angelina not being a mainstream artist because there is a whole new side of her you have not heard yet. I've never been a significant fan of any individual vocal artist .. so discovering over the past 5 years that I'm a huge fan of Angelina has been quite a revelation. I guess fandom is supposed to include wanting whoever it is to become among the top in the world. But I don't find myself wanting that for Angelina. I want her to continue enjoying what she does while continuing to have a respectable international fanbase. And, of course, I hope it provides her with a comfortable life. You may have not yet delved into her own original music. I think you would be surprised.
BTW: I prefer that all your reactions to Angelina would be blind.

Awesome reaction for a 16 year old performance! She only gave 2 week notification of her Vegas Concerts and didn't allow Republic Records Heavily Promote her. It is about 1600 people occupancy and she sold about 1200 in the first concert, mainly her Loyal Fans (Angels). Her rehearsing for 2 weeks prior, Security and Hotel Staff were spreading the word about her and by the night of the concert she was the talk of the town. That is amazing in itself! It filled up to almost the same capacity, a lot being of last minute purchases. I heard from different attendees, that the New Comers became instant fans and were totally impressed. Her performance growth in 30 minutes from the 1 st concert to the 2nd was immense and uncanny. She sang a total of 38 songs, 20 different which is a feat in itself. I love Angelina's music, her voice, everything. I think I have listened to every TH-cam video many times. I love it all, but when I try to get generation X, Y and Z onboard, the best I get is a comment like, "That's nice!" I fear that what they are saying is more out of respect to me (an old person in their lives). Does anyone have any ideas about why? Do they not understand what great music is, and is it all lost on them like classical (Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart) music is.
Iv asked that question of my sons and grown up grandchildren..they all say the same thing..great vocals boring content, they are not relating to the song choices, and don't feel any connection to it. They want the artists they follow and go to see to be relevent ti the world they are living in .❤

It's always a thought exercise when discussing Angelina's potential popularity.I think of Bocelli,Buble,Amy Winehouse,Norah Jones,and increasingly Laufey . Angelina's new EP Old Enough shows that she has the writing skills and creativity to appeal to a wide demographic,with the proper marketing.I also think that you have to spend some time with her more recent creations to begin to feel that AJ has literally just begun to emerge and she will fight her way to the top.She wants that superstardom primarily to have a positive impact and champion her causes.Remember also that she performed at a Norah Jones concert in front of 40K fans and they went wild for her talent.
Angelina has said before that without Billy Holiday there would be no Angelina Jordan today, and I once read that Billy was one of the first artist known to make full use of the microphone as you described it.

I agree that Angelina will be an Internationally acclaimed diva, respected by serious music lovers, but probably not by the masses. She will definitely be studied at Music Academy's in the future. She is 16 in this video, but I thought you would like to hear her sing it live during an outdoor concert in Norway around the same time. It was being taped on National TV & she sang it beautifully, but the wind caused audio problems. I think you are 100% correct on your analysis on whether Angelina will be another “Superstar “ . You can see it now. In my opinion the music industry is ignoring the best new talent on the planet! She has the perfect voice. Angelina sings with such emotion and passion not to mention her beautiful voice. You see all these low talent young singers win all kinds of awards but not even a mention of Angelina. Maybe it’s a good thing she doesn’t make it big. I worry about AJ and her family living in that slime city L.A. She’s a treasure and she needs protection.

She has many great performances but unchained melody on Nobel peace prize is step up - it is beyond good. If you comment on it it is helpful to think about the context: piece prize is for Iranian woman currently imprisoned in Iran (AJ's grandma is Iranian), the children of imprisoned women are in audience - the song is from movie unchained about person in prison thinking about his love.

Sadly I'm agree with you about her possibilities to be mainstream today. Music business today is full focus in sort term interests. Like in many other areas in today's live,something that require a minimum of attention and doesn't come easy to lazy brains, will not have a great impact.
Maybe this is the reason because her followers be mostly in the second half of their lives (me too). We grew up with music references very far from the current mainstream.

This may seem like the strangest comparison ever, but I can see Angelina having a similar impact as the band Rush. Rush never had the fame of AC/DC or Pink Floyd in that genre, but if you asked other musicians, or music nerds what band most impressed them it would often be Rush. Neil Pert was often referred to as "your favorite drummer's favorite drummer." Similarly, I see Angelina being popular with a certain segment of fans, but not entirely mainstream.
