Happy early New Year! You have been such an invaluable resource to my husband and I! I'm only 44 and had to stop working 2 years ago due to health issues. @@beardedthriftmachine Great! Tap shoes are always indicated by one single flat metal tap on each heel and toe. Clogging shoes are easy to differentiate… each heel and toe has a “double”tap. Stevens Stompers are a desirable brand! (I used to teach a children’s clogging team!)
Nice video thanks 😀! The little symbol impressed into the Insole of the Danskos is a line drawing of an animal hide, indicating leather in the construction. It's used on all kinds of leather goods not just Danskos.

Haha the mysterious comps in the store are different when you get home. Was very funny bc its so true ..happens alot you look at solds and sell through rates in the the thrift then get home and say ummm OK this is odd...glad you mentioned it..great video as always Happy and Prosperous New Years to you and yours. Dansko are Danish in origin and the name is a combination of two words: "Dansk," which is the Danish word for "Danish," and "sko" which is the Danish word for "shoe." One other thing I thought of to tell you while watching this is that my best friend from college (a woman) holds the patent on the golf bag stand together with another person. I'm sure that is paying off very nicely.

Actually, it seems like it was a danish immigrant to the us who founded the dansko company - so not really danish per se 😔 But definitely a scandinavian shoe pattern!
@Bearded Thrift Machine, the symbol on the dansko insole just means it is made of real leather, nothing to do with the brand!
I didn't realize that. Clogs were the traditional shoe in Denmark and they were worn there for centuries, long before Dansko was in existence. They were made of wood originally and were called traesko (wooden shoes). I grew up wearing them. My father's, which I still have, are actually made of wood and have a back to them and were elevated with pieces of wood that went crosswise across the bottom to keep the shoe slightly elevated to keep the feet dry (it rains a lot in Denmark).

It seems like every time I buy Dansko, I get them home and there is something I missed wrong with them. Especially that wear you mentioned around the tops

Dansko Shoes- YES- TEST 'em. The soles FAIL. So much $$$ for a shoe that will bust out in < years with only LIGHT wear.

I never find decent shoes down here in Texas. If I find one decent pair every six months that would be a miracle. And, “Salvation Army” and “reasonably priced” are never going to be in the same sentence down here. Oh well, I have a few little honey holes that I know about that keep on giving! Happy New Year!!!

I'm in Texas, too, and find a lot of good shoes at thrift stores. Try higher income areas, that seems to yield me more, better resellable quality shoes.

The Hunt ! I live outside Boston and have a Good will store in burbs. The worker told me it is the most profitable in the state! Ha ha it is located next to a Homegoods . It’s the The North Shore area close to Gloucester Manchester by the sea. The donors leave awesome brand name clothes etc. I am addicted ! Visit once a week! However they have researched many items and upped the price. Still I smile at the housewives leaving Homegoods with a bag and me shlepping a shopping cart filled with lamps, shoes etc

its on Ebay where a third party handles all the international shipping stuff. You send it to Kentucky and they process it then ship it to the address that bought it worldwide. Its a great way to open sales up

I truly think a lot of the pickers are getting too greedy. If I can pick up for 15.and sell for 30. iI

fine with that. I do charge for shipping. As a former retail merchant ..doubling you money is the normal mark up. Everyone likes the big score but that is not the norm. That is the icing on the cake. Quick list and pack I am happy for a smaller profit.
depends on items, after fees and taxes. if would have to be a fast sell with easy ship and easy list

Got another question for you, I got two pair of golf shoes, one Nike and one Footjoy but their removable golf spikes are not in great condition. Would you leave them, remove them, or get new ones before selling them?
If you have the tool I would remove them but if not I have sold plenty that needs Spikes.

Not sure if I messaged you this but your videos where you mentioned when you look up tennis rackets/racquets… when that one piece is solid and not an insert… that helped me big time.. found a Dunlop in great condition at habitat for humanity thrift in my area and it was only $2, turned that into $75(I sold cheap) and it sold within 10 hours of posting it. This video had me checking shoes I normally wouldn’t today and found a pair of Kisik Bostons today and want to clean them up before selling. Thanks again man!

You bought the Merrells for $10, you will sell them for $25, but you are not going to make an "easy $15", because you will pay $5 in fees on your sale price plus the shipping, so you will be lucky to make $10.
