While finishing the game at LV1, I noticed that this track sounded different than before. This is the theme that plays against Terra-Xehanort with Aqua.

The fact that you have Destati, a hint of Aqua's theme, then like bursts of Terra's theme like he's trying to fight past Xehanort it's just SO GOOD
It's something that is scattered across most of Terra's adjacent themes. Hearing Xemnas's theme start with this caucophony of noise and darkness and organ, and then silence... and then just string. It's like, despite it all, there's some part of him there living on saying "No, I'm still here. I'm still alive. I'm still fighting."
It's so heartbreaking. Especially when you consider things like Xemnas having Aqua's armor so near for a majority of his "life".

All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it, grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came.

It's so sad that the lyrics say "Destati! Destati! Forza tendi la mano!" (Wake up! Wake up! Stretch your hand out!) as if it was Aqua begging Terra to wake up and to reach for her hand. I think the empowered violins of this version only add to that feeling.

They did their best to make this music full of signs and symbols
_the violin, signature instrument for battles against the different forms of xehanort
_the Fragment of Sorrow part from Destati, also a signature song for xehanort and a symbol of Terra's suffering
_and obviously, Terra's theme on the piano in the background

You forgot the violin at 0:50 which is very reminiscent of Aqua's theme.
KH OST is in my eyes the best we got so far in gaming history.
I mean tell me one other series that had such outstanding music in entry’s some would consider as Spin offs.
Not one game with bad music. The worst would be Recoded because it’s basically KH1 again but that doesn’t make the music itself bad

Hiryun I only played Automata until now but the music sure was amazing.
But what makes Kh special to me is the big amount of entries this series has while none of them has bad music.
But now Iam sure interested to play the other Nier games to see for myself what they have to offer^^

Terra’s theme has violin in it and it actually sounds really similar to the piece that plays here
This track is so horribly sad. You walk into this fight hearing this music, and coupled with the series history it just drives home that no one walks out of it as the winner.

yup…aqua saves terra from the realm of darkness trapping herself at the same time and terra still ends up losing his body
To this day, this is probably my favourite Kingdom Hearts theme ever.
There's literally three leitmotifs fighting against each other, and it's BEAUTIFUL.
I love musical storytelling.

I absolutely love the sinister buildup at 1:25 before it mellows down into a sadder melody as a representation that it's not Terra doing all of those evil things but rather Xehanort.
It's Terra's Theme in here that really completes this piece. It adds so much emotion and power to it. It's like it's inspiring you to save what's possibly left of him in there. Like "this is an epic battle, but it's for your friend!"
One thing I'll always love about this theme...just over a minute in you can hear Terra's Lingering Will theme literally battling Xehanort's theme for control in a back and forth, then it all goes quiet for a moment...and now Xehanort's iconic high strings have taken Terra's theme.
The song tells you as you're fighting that you can't win.

As another comment here says, you have Xehanort's theme, a faint hint of Aqua's and then you got *bursts* of Terra's theme like he's trying to fight past Xehanort.

I love how Kingdom Hearts evolves and remixes it’s music (not sure if this is technically a leitmotif or not). This song itself being a mixture of Fragments of Sorrow and Terra’s theme, which is already a mix between Rage Awakened and Fate of the Unknown. Fate of the Unknown also uses pieces of Rage Awakened in its Melody. Yoko Shinomura is insanely good.

Also yes she is, I was able to tell without looking it up that she did FFXV soundtrack, there are only two other composers I recognize on sound alone, Wagner, and Yuki Kajiura

If you listen closely, the violins are playing rage awakened at certain parts! Like at 1:53!
Probably meant to symbolize Terranort internal struggle, like there is still a bit of Terra deepdown that current person of his.

Honestly, this song sort of sounds like something you'd hear in the first Kingdom Hearts game, like, something that'd play when you're fighting the final boss. I dunno, it may just be me.

Thinking about how bbs is the domino that starts the events of the whole series all because takes advantage of terra, aqua and ven, causing EVERYTHING from ansem spreading darkness across the universe to sora almost becoming xehanort and everything in between really makes this track ominous, with a "this is only the begining" vibe

There are so many great KH tracks that I didn't know by name, so I didn't bother searching for them. Melody of Memory fixed that for me.
1:52 plays Terra's theme! I love the little touches and nuances that Yoko does with her themes! She pays attention to the story to drop those I love it!

Not gonna lie as a casual KH player I tried this fight at level 42. Got one shotted by any combo he tried ( Not attack) felt like rage quitting but I'd hit retry and this would get me thru it all. That's the power of this track

Still the most terrifying battle theme in Kingdom Hearts history...It really ups the intensity of that one scene in KH3!

The biggest problem was the pacing. It was too slow, but, when the Disney Worlds ran out, the pacing got too quick without any breathing room to let anything sink in.
What I'm trying to say is: The story was fine, but they screwed up (and that's an understatement).

@@alrox9760 No they did not. Remind used a version that has no vocals at all. The original track in BBS had lyrics just as the HD remaster does, but the track in ReMind lacks any vocals at all.

Yeah. The cutscene version is amazing on its own, but i really hoped that it would play for Terranort if you ended up beating Vanitas first.

that theme song is when Aqua fights Terranort during the secret episode in Birth By Sleep.
Not the secret episode, the final episode. The secret episode is when she's in the realm of darkness.
Yeah, the Final Episode follows right after Aqua's final battle with Ventus-Vanitas. The Secret Episode was actually the first introduction to Kingdom Hearts 0.2: A Fragmentary passage.
Truthfully.. I know the whole story of Birth By Sleep but I've never actually played it.
I can't wait for 2.5..

+Sora The Keyblades Chosen One Even though Disney has a presence, I've always felt that Kingdom Hearts was far more Square than Disney in terms of theming, conflict, and overall story and feel.
+KingdomHeartsBrawler I believe they put Disney in the mix to make the games more diverse than your average Square RPG.
Best track of BBS in my opinion, now if only the boss wasn't so easy.
