It's awesome to know that Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece was 100% involved in the production of this live action, ensuring that it was a quality product for both fans and new entrants to the series. And I'm pretty sure the whole production team and the cast had a lot of fun bringing One Piece to life. 👒☠️🔥

It's interesting to see people who never seen One Piece react to the live action. And it's nice that the creator has had a hand in it unlike with certain other live action adaptations. I've been a fan of the series since 2017, but it does take time and dedication to get into it because of the art style and the sheer length/pacing of it.
Little rules establishment for the world of One Piece. If a regular human trains enough then they can usually gain superhuman strength, speed and durability.
Casting of the characters is very well chosen and adapted,the costumes are good and it doesn't look like a cosplay, the recreations of the places from the manga are great,Those who made this series show that they are fans of One Piece.
I'm a guy who absolutely loathed the very idea of One Piece, as well as Netflix anime live-action adaptations, but this show absolutely won me over. Finished watching episode 2 and I am so ridiculously hooked to it. It's insane how good it is, and I can tell it's not just because I don't know the source material, since the fans seem to love it as well.
Hint: The dialogues in the show are EXTREMELY important, there is a lot of information hidden in simple dialogues, which establish things for the future. I recommend not talking too much during dialogues, a single lost line can cause information confusion
As far as a *show* not just ‘anime live action,’ but just a show, this is a 10/10 for me. And it keeps getting better every episode! Higher budget than game of thrones per episode, and the best show in a while!
I finshed the eight episodes on the day it released. I really LOVED it. The cast is so charming, and the deviations they made didn't make an impact on the enjoyment overall, I actually think certain aspects were improved with it. It's not a perfect adaptation, but it is the best of its kind. My biggest takeaway from this was that it actually made me like Sanji lmfao
"His kind of like a therapist". Its rare to see someone call Luffy that but he actually is. Most of the time his just doing his own thing but when your down and Luffy talks, you cant help but listen. His the most childish yet most mature protagonist ive ever seen
@@Rojel-ls3yn a character from another completely different anime series. And I don't even think they got the character right, it's the son of that character who gives the long-winded speeches about feelings and stuff, not that character himself.
He's a very straightforward character, which has its pros and cons. He has little interest in pretense or putting on airs, very much knowing who he is and tends to cut to the heart of the matter. Though the fact that he tends to tackle problems one thing at a time does mean when he sets his eyes on a loftier goal like "become King of the Pirates" he needs to be reminded of some of the steps he'll need to accomplish first, like "figure out where the Grand Line is" or "get an actual ship". It also tends to make him an unpredictable fighter, since he rarely plans ahead in combat so much as trying out what seems like the best move in the moment.
As someone who got into the manga and the anime back when the first arc of the series this season is based on was originally coming out and has continued with all the way until today I can say in my opinion this is an excellent adaption.
For new viewers of One Piece like you guys to still get the anime feel and understand the themes and souls of the characters that we long time fans have known for years, make me sooooo happy. This adaptation is fantastic! Give me a season 2 of this already netflix!.🤩🤩

During the fight scene with axe hand, they did show Nami taking on the other marines... but as often is the case, reactors tend to miss some scenes when they turn to look at each other and talk.

Since they have so little time to tell the stories, and not enough resources to let their villains have big battles and show their power, the strawhats crews accomplisments are diminished a lot. There's way less emotional punch. Not to mention, making Luffy smarter/more clever than the original takes some of the achievements away from the rest of the crew, and lessens the comedy. It was so uninteresting, after watching the first episode, the rest played in the background, while I played a game, glancing over to the anime from time to time. Haven't even bothered to start the last episode yet.
We still don't know what One Piece is in the anime, but Oda (creator of one piece) confirmed that it is not any symbolism or form of friendship, but an actual object.
Im just happy more people just starting to watch One Piece even if they not start from manga or anime. So many medium to choose and im glad this is a very good adaptation, a shorter version of it at least. Looking forward for all episodes on this channel with you guys😁
I wish I had known that you did this series when you released them. I'm sure that you now know much more about the show but the author of the manga (the show is not based on the anime) had full control on the casting of Luffy's crew and it shows (although all of the casting was amazing as far as I'm concerned).

As long as Oda is involved with the production, we are good. The moment Netflix tries to lessen his role, we will be in trouble. I firmly believe that. Remember, this is the same studio that produced live action Cowboy Bebop.

Some live live action version of anime came from Japan like Attack on Titan, Rurouni Kenshin etc etc. Some made in America like Cowboy Bebop, One Piece etc etc. Really love this wanted poster intro's they are great.
One Piece has been a constant companion in my life for the last at least 23 years. I was very nervous when I saw they wanna do a liveaction adaptation because One Piece is full of very unique characters, locations and powers that can be really hard to bring to life. And while it is true that some things might look a little goofy I have to say I am incredibly happy with how the show turned out. The casting is incredible and there are so many details, so many little nods to the source material and even when they divert from it and allow themselves some more creative freedom I still see a great interpretation of the characters I know and love played by people who know and love One Piece. I hope that you and many others will discover and explore more of Oda's incredible world through this show.
One Piece is a story about pirates and every other person has super powers. You'll see a lot more powers down the line. Can't wait to see the rest of your reactions! Also i'm not sure if you caught it, but the devil fruit is what made Luffy unable to swim. He was a great swimmer at first until he ate it. Gaining devil fruit powers is both a blessing and a curse
I like that the live action doesn't include some iconic moments so if you want to enjoy the masterful storytelling of Mr. Oda you still have to watch the anime :D
I've watched all of it now and as a fan its a super fun watch! So many little things and attention of detail they added really shows that there was a lot of care put into this! The casting is great and the outfits and sets are amazing!
Finished watching it on its premiere date, I couldn't stoping laughing, shouting and crying. Theey have done this well, catching the spirit of the show, terrific casting choices, and writing and plot choices to fit in many characters and moments from the first 100 chapters. They have broken the cycle of failed live action anime. So glad that Oda was involved and loved so much. I am prying for a second season and i know what and who is gonna come out. 🤞🤞👍👍🏴☠️❤❤

1:30 - Its realyl solid, and it even has changes that are IMPROVEMENTS on the manga AND anime! It's super compressed of course, but thats not a bad thing, and it actually kept many of the darker things that the anime censored.

That is why the story is very good, he had been mastering the technique of story telling for almost 30 years of hard work in producing the greatest and most successful manga in history. And with the help of professional film director, they broke the live action failure curse. Oda had fully dedicated himself for creating the One Piece story with 1091 manga chapter and 1074 episode in count, and with the announcement of the final saga of One Piece that already started, he and the team again surprise us with this magnificent series. Hope many people will start read the actual manga after getting into the live action.

I barely cry during the first episode , it's so good adaptation of the Manga/Anime. Rewatching the "debut" of the story make me realised that since now in Manga, so many things gonna happen. This season gonna be really good (i just saw for now 2 episodes) but the season 2 gonna be awesome too if they go to the Arc i though. Be careful to everything they said and you see because since the first episode, so many forshadows already here.

They did make a lot of changes from the manga/anime, but they still did a very good job and caught a lot of the spirit of One Piece. A I really liked a lot of the changes most of them was really interessting.

Just for reference The creator has been creating 1 chapter a week every week without fail for over 25 years now, he is 50 years old now. He started when he was 25. He estimated One Piece will be finished within the next three years.

The aniem itself is super colorful. I think the production team mentioned that they were trying their best to adapt that into L-A as well, to create some contrast to other shows who are always more dark and gloomy. One Piece has its very serious topics, but in the end, it's suppost to make you happy and that's why it's so bright and colorful :)
The next time they cast the Joker for a Batman movie, they should cast Jeff Ward. His Buggy gives live adaptation of the 1990s Batman TAS Joker vibes to me.
I read a lot of comments these months, how best I go with low expectations so as not to be disappointed, or about the curse of live action, I only found out about the rumor 5 years ago, I couldn't stop supporting the project, I even made a channel from TH-cam for news about live action, I always had confidence and high expectations because I knew that those involved were fans, the cast was perfect, budget, How it should be for a series, and now I can say that it was worth every damn second of waiting and longing , ahh I couldn't stop getting excited with each scene of Luffy, I yelled, jumped, punched with a rubber-rubber pistol simply thanks for making my dream come true and I really hope it goes very well, Netflix confirms a second season and more people can. feel what makes this story unique ❤☠️

I've only watched the first episode so I don't know if they delve into it but there is a specific reason why Luffy can't swim In the anime and manga this covers the first arc of One Piece essentially; facing Alvida and leaving Shells Town, however there were plenty of minor changes made from the original. Alvida is one of the bigger changes, in the manga her thing was asking her crew who was the most beautiful pirate, and Luffy flat out calling her ugly, which of course doesn't quite fly in this era. Nami doesn't engage with Luffy or Zoro until the next arc either but we do see her sneaking and disguising herself in search for the map - which is stolen by Buggy, so she uses the trick to steal a Buggy pirates ship. Zoro was put in the yard for saving Rika from Helmeppo's rabid dog, who then makes rice balls with salt instead of sugar for Zoro on the 3rd day on the yard, which Helmeppo stomped out and Zoro then had Luffy feed him to make Rika feel better, he did pledge himself to Luffy here too, defeating Morgan himself but reminding Luffy that if being a pirate gets in the way of his dream he'll kill him, we also don't see the encounter with Mr. 7 it's only mentioned that Baroque Works approached him. Helmeppo is defeated by Luffy while holding Koby at gunpoint and the Vice Admiral doesn't get involved until after these arcs. But they are all small things, it's still put together very well given how many arcs they have to put into 8 episodes. Oh also Luffy only gets to the next island because he gets trapped inside a giant bird's mouth, which he alludes to here by saying to grab a bird. There's a lot of hidden easter eggs for people who know the show/manga to enjoy

As watching as teen when came out and reading the manga I love all of One Piece. In sales the One Piece has out sold Spiderman and Batman on the comic list leaving Superman the only above it. Oda also has Guinness World Records start this manga when only 17 years old.
Knew absolutely nothing about this IP when my wife and I started the Netflix show. Hooked us immediately. We're currently going through the first couple of seasons of the anime because of it.

Some live live action version of anime came from Japan like Attack on Titan, Rurouni Kenshin etc etc. Some made in America like Cowboy Bebop, One Piece etc etc. Really love this wanted poster intro's they are great.
One Piece has been a constant companion in my life for the last at least 23 years. I was very nervous when I saw they wanna do a liveaction adaptation because One Piece is full of very unique characters, locations and powers that can be really hard to bring to life. And while it is true that some things might look a little goofy I have to say I am incredibly happy with how the show turned out. The casting is incredible and there are so many details, so many little nods to the source material and even when they divert from it and allow themselves some more creative freedom I still see a great interpretation of the characters I know and love played by people who know and love One Piece. I hope that you and many others will discover and explore more of Oda's incredible world through this show.

Also i'm not sure if you caught it, but the devil fruit is what made Luffy unable to swim. He was a great swimmer at first until he ate it. Gaining devil fruit powers is both a blessing and a curse

I like that the live action doesn't include some iconic moments so if you want to enjoy the masterful storytelling of Mr. Oda you still have to watch the anime :D

I've watched all of it now and as a fan its a super fun watch! So many little things and attention of detail they added really shows that there was a lot of care put into this! The casting is great and the outfits and sets are amazing!
Finished watching it on its premiere date, I couldn't stoping laughing, shouting and crying. Theey have done this well, catching the spirit of the show, terrific casting choices, and writing and plot choices to fit in many characters and moments from the first 100 chapters.
They have broken the cycle of failed live action anime. So glad that Oda was involved and loved so much. I am prying for a second season and i know what and who is gonna come out. 🤞🤞👍👍🏴☠️❤❤

1:30 - Its realyl solid, and it even has changes that are IMPROVEMENTS on the manga AND anime! It's super compressed of course, but thats not a bad thing, and it actually kept many of the darker things that the anime censored.

One of important people working on this live action series is the legend Eiichiro Oda the creator of One Piece himself. That is why the story is very good, he had been mastering the technique of story telling for almost 30 years of hard work in producing the greatest and most successful manga in history. And with the help of professional film director, they broke the live action failure curse. Oda had fully dedicated himself for creating the One Piece story with 1091 manga chapter and 1074 episode in count, and with the announcement of the final saga of One Piece that already started, he and the team again surprise us with this magnificent series. Hope many people will start read the actual manga after getting into the live action.

the creator of one piece writor oda had a say in everything the director did including the casting and this is the most expensive netflix show ever the first season cost 104 mil ( 13 mil per episode) that is why it looks so good please let me know what you think

I barely cry during the first episode , it's so good adaptation of the Manga/Anime. Rewatching the "debut" of the story make me realised that since now in Manga, so many things gonna happen. This season gonna be really good (i just saw for now 2 episodes) but the season 2 gonna be awesome too if they go to the Arc i though. Be careful to everything they said and you see because since the first episode, so many forshadows already here.

They did make a lot of changes from the manga/anime, but they still did a very good job and caught a lot of the spirit of One Piece. A I really liked a lot of the changes most of them was really interessting.

Just for reference The creator has been creating 1 chapter a week every week without fail for over 25 years now, he is 50 years old now. He started when he was 25. He estimated One Piece will be finished within the next three years.

The aniem itself is super colorful. I think the production team mentioned that they were trying their best to adapt that into L-A as well, to create some contrast to other shows who are always more dark and gloomy. One Piece has its very serious topics, but in the end, it's suppost to make you happy and that's why it's so bright and colorful :)

I read a lot of comments these months, how best I go with low expectations so as not to be disappointed, or about the curse of live action, I only found out about the rumor 5 years ago, I couldn't stop supporting the project, I even made a channel from TH-cam for news about live action, I always had confidence and high expectations because I knew that those involved were fans, the cast was perfect, budget, How it should be for a series, and now I can say that it was worth every damn second of waiting and longing , ahh I couldn't stop getting excited with each scene of Luffy, I yelled, jumped, punched with a rubber-rubber pistol simply thanks for making my dream come true and I really hope it goes very well, Netflix confirms a second season and more people can. feel what makes this story unique ❤☠️

So fun to see reactions of people who of have not seen the manga or anime.
I've only watched the first episode so I don't know if they delve into it but there is a specific reason why Luffy can't swim
In the anime and manga this covers the first arc of One Piece essentially; facing Alvida and leaving Shells Town, however there were plenty of minor changes made from the original. Alvida is one of the bigger changes, in the manga her thing was asking her crew who was the most beautiful pirate, and Luffy flat out calling her ugly, which of course doesn't quite fly in this era. Nami doesn't engage with Luffy or Zoro until the next arc either but we do see her sneaking and disguising herself in search for the map - which is stolen by Buggy, so she uses the trick to steal a Buggy pirates ship. Zoro was put in the yard for saving Rika from Helmeppo's rabid dog, who then makes rice balls with salt instead of sugar for Zoro on the 3rd day on the yard, which Helmeppo stomped out and Zoro then had Luffy feed him to make Rika feel better, he did pledge himself to Luffy here too, defeating Morgan himself but reminding Luffy that if being a pirate gets in the way of his dream he'll kill him, we also don't see the encounter with Mr. 7 it's only mentioned that Baroque Works approached him. Helmeppo is defeated by Luffy while holding Koby at gunpoint and the Vice Admiral doesn't get involved until after these arcs. But they are all small things, it's still put together very well given how many arcs they have to put into 8 episodes.
Oh also Luffy only gets to the next island because he gets trapped inside a giant bird's mouth, which he alludes to here by saying to grab a bird. There's a lot of hidden easter eggs for people who know the show/manga to enjoy

As watching as teen when came out and reading the manga I love all of One Piece. In sales the One Piece has out sold Spiderman and Batman on the comic list leaving Superman the only above it. Oda also has Guinness World Records start this manga when only 17 years old.
Knew absolutely nothing about this IP when my wife and I started the Netflix show. Hooked us immediately. We're currently going through the first couple of seasons of the anime because of it.
