I’m a beginner , and even though I thought this was gonna be hard , it turned out amazing ! Thank you so much ! All my friends wanna know how I got so good now 😅
I painted along, stopping every few minutes, and I wish there were image upload options in comments in TH-cam-you allowed me to paint a piece i really am proud of!! Thanks Ruth 💕
😍 This is so beautiful!! I'm definitely going to paint along! 😃👍 I'm thrilled about the fantastic possibilities of gouache!🤩✨Thank you so much, Ruth!! 🙏 👏👏👏 🤗
Hello Ruth, I love these fantasy whimsy tutorials! 😊 Could you make a series of these? Have you heard of small or tiny world's and how to create a bigger version of them?
I really enjoyed the step by step instructions. I am going to replay this video when I have my paints and art supplies set up (we recently moved and I don't have my art desk and supplies set up yet) so that I can attempt to re-create this lovely painting. Definitely worth a subscribe for more tutorials like this, without a bunch of useless chitter chatter, but good step by step instruction. Thank you, looking forward to your next video.
That is soooo beautiful!!! I look very carefully how you paint all the details, and when you paint the leaves, and it pops up! Like magic! Wow! I love it!!!❤❤❤
I just started painting and this piece is the one I am most proud of, it turned out great! Thank you so much! Please make more whimsical gouache tutorials
I so enjoy your mystical art. My favorite colors are blue and green as well. I bought phthalo green at your suggestion. I did the "Hollow" following your advice and was so happy with it. Looking forward to more ethereal pictures.
Always loved to sketch & dabble around in art but got into the digital art business for about 23 years. Started out as a 2D artist but about 7 years ago got into 3D art promotion due to nerve damage in my right arm, that limited my capacity to draw. Problem is, Ive been missing sketching & such so much but I cant hold a pen without my hand/fingers cramping quite quickly & with that, Im not drawing the way I use to (I cant even write as I once did) so basically have to relearn everything again with how I can work now. But decided that going back to basic, especially in AI times, could be a good move, also cause yea I miss it. But I must admit, ive been apprehensive, intimidated, to get started. Sketching sure cause thats never been hard really but again, Im limited by how I can hold the pen. So I thought, why not just try painting, I hold a brush very different to a pen & it dosnt hurt as quick. But were to start, got my ancient acrylics, even have a little gouache Ive never used. So many vids on YT, how to do this, or that & though plenty of stunning work, its usually always much harder than it seems cause brushstrokes, how much paint, how hard to press etc etc & often Ive found following peoples tutorials, makes it a bit hard to find your own voice as one tends to mimic the one we follow suit but then I found you & like others has said, this was quite easy to follow, while also making it "your own" way & with that, I made my first traditional painting in 25 years! lol So, I just wanna thank you for "unlocking my fear" to try it all again with this tutorial! Thank you from Sweden 😀
Wow this was such a lovely tutorial and quite relaxing too 😊 I’m so excited for my order of new gauche paints to arrive even more now! This video made me want to paint along 😍
I'm an oil painter and I badly want to learn how to make a decent gouache! And look at this landscape? OMGosh! Btw, Ruth, the Gamboge is gorgeous and I hope you use it again. It looks perfect for autumn! Lol! I thought the little lights around the lanterns were moths and insects! Very nice effect!
Hi Ruth, may I ask whats the brand and size of the flat brush that you use for painting the background? I need to get a nice flat brush thats good for blending gouache background colors.
What’s the differences between a petal brush and a cats tongue brush? I’ve never heard of the petal brush but when I googled it I got pics of a cats tongue brush
I was like let me just squeeze in that orange layer even though the white isn't dry... It started to show blue and then your warning came up. Thanks for making me pause! I'm so impatient and it always ruins things.

I so want to paint while watching but I think I’ll not be able to as i need some image references along

This is so beautiful amazing work I love it., can acrylic colors do the same as this or no ?
Heyy
Are You going to continue uploading videos?
Is cause I like them so much ❤😅
Hi Ruth, may I ask whats the brand and size of the flat brush that you use for painting the background? I need to get a nice flat brush thats good for blending gouache background colors.
It’s a 1/2” angled shader from Kingart! I use their Gold Series brushes and they’re wonderful for painting with gouache!
😍😍🤓
What’s the differences between a petal brush and a cats tongue brush? I’ve never heard of the petal brush but when I googled it I got pics of a cats tongue brush
It’s just a round brush with a super fine pointed tip. The cats tongue brushes are more often like a pointed flat oval 💕
I was like let me just squeeze in that orange layer even though the white isn't dry... It started to show blue and then your warning came up. Thanks for making me pause! I'm so impatient and it always ruins things.
