This guy is really nice with the ladies, a real man. And the ladies are not dumb eye candy, they're mature women giving unique, honest, smart reviews. I love it! We need more reviews like this.
To all the mean comments directed at Nicole - you're missing the point of the video. For women looking to choose their first gun the last thing we need to see are a couple of Annie Oakleys who could shoot any gun and it be a good fit! Nicole you were the most relatable shooter in the video! Thank you for having the courage to demonstrate these guns for this review and offering us your perspective for us women who are beginners at shooting.
Thise small guns are more like guns for experienced shooters. The idea that get a women a small gun really doesnt make much sense. Specially if they are novice or are not into firearms.
Yup. Women wanna pretend they can do what men can too cause science doesn't exist these days and there's also too much entitlement and general worthlessness fuck those thots like that.
@@farzana6676not true my wife has a Sig P320 and is much more comfortable with it over the micro guns, with smaller frames the recoil increases significantly. The P320 also can be converted into a pcc system if you get the Flux Raider system.
Helping a new female shooter with her first purchase, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for putting it together and presenting it this way.
A lot of people knocking the video and the shooters. This is so accurate to the level of experience of many people men and women who do not shoot as much but are looking to defend themselves against the thugs we face today. Good video. Don't like it, make your own.
I wish that this video could play on loop in gun shops around the nation. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched people buy guns for their wife/ girlfriend/ fiancé, whatever without having them there. Inevitably they always buy something super tiny and usually pink, it really annoys the crap out of me when people forget physics AND don't bring the person they're buying it for with them. Fit is individual, buy her a gift card and let her pick her own gun.
+Iossua t-Sealgair I would have to agree with your comment 100%. I will also say that this video was extremely well done and very informative. I am personally looking for a weapon for my wife and want to consider everything that would affect her using it safely(she is also left handed) so size-vs-caliber, simplicity, revolver vs striker are all considerations for me. LAA, you have a new subscriber, again great video.
Iossua t-Sealgair ; couldn't agree more! I worked at a gun shop while in college and what you wrote was exactly what I witnessed. We would tell the men, " Your wife's needs for protection are exactly the same as yours. You wouldn't trust your life to a .22 cal/ 2 shot derringer, so why should your wife?". This always made them think twice!
This was a well-done video. The fact that the ladies were not very experienced was quite important, as few of our spouses, daughters or sisters will shoot as often as we do. This video illustrated a number of significant negative factors of specific firearmause of: simplicitys with respect to female usage, particularly in a high stress defensive encounter. I salute the ladies involved for their willingness to put it on the line. My wife, not an experienced shooter, prefers revolvers because of: simplicity, safety (viz., easy to check loaded condition, no external controls, etc.), and a uniform smooth trigger pull. However, her favorites are larger than the small .380s tested.
Excellent video. I carried my Glock 19 every day for five years. I'm small and the gun felt like it weighed a ton. I loved shooting it; not so much carrying it around. When the Glock 42 came out I bought it immediately and have carried it every day for three years. I love shooting .380. Of course I still shoot my 19 in IDPA and other competitions. I shoot my 42 in competition also.
Out of the LCP, S&W, and G42.. my wife and I both enjoyed the G42 the most. We were able to get to a range that had guns for rent so she could choose which one felt best, and she was most accurate with. I recommend finding a local range that you can do that at.
This is a very realistic test...I was watching videos this morning looking for a .380 for my wife. She has a hard time controlling a 9mm handgun. The Glock 42 is what I was thinking of getting for her because I own the Glock 43 and she shoots it probably better than any 9mm I own just because of how small it is it fits her hands better than my bigger guns. I think the Glock 42 will be a great comfortable, Controllable platform for her.
Gotta love that signature Smith & Wesson Bodyguard trigger. Magical thing that requires you to pull the trigger 99% of the way back. Never knowing when it's going to go off.
It's good to see practical application and opinions from average users. Everyone slammed the Glock for being too big for a 380. Looks like Glock knows how to build a pistol for actual use better than Internet commandos. Great video! Mick-
Meh, I would put the colt in the same size category as the glock. The Ruger LC380 and maybe the S&W shield EZ might have been a more fair comparison against the G42. The LCP and Bodyguard are squarely "micro" pistols. Shooting the G42, it seemed like a pretty big gun to me for a .380. If you're trying to go small, it really doesn't check that box. Otherwise, it shoots like any other glock.
I love this video. I'm a first time gun buyer and I know once I go practice before buying a gun I'm going to be shaky. My biggest fear is the recoil from a gun!
First, congratulations on choosing to pick up this sport. You’ll definitely get better the more trigger time you have. Definitely take the time to get training from a good firearms instructor. He/she can help ease your apprehension with the loud report (bang), and managing recoil. My only recommendation is to do what these ladies did, and try out several guns before buying. You need to find the one that feels the most controllable and comfortable in your hands, and the one you can manipulate with ease. These pistols are a bit small for most beginner shooters, so maybe a slightly larger frame pistol (like a Glock 43X/Glock 48, or Sig P365) may be a better starting gun. You want to get good at the fundamentals with your firearm before venturing out to the smaller frame subcompacts.
This helped me pick out my gun. I choose the glock 42 and loved it. Before this gun I hated shooting the guns. With the glock I'm addicted to shooting it. Thanks sooooo much for the video!!!!!
Excellent demo and analysis. NOBODY ELSE that I have ever seen has shown these .380 pistols in their raw use. Your analysis was fair and gave excellent display of why anyone with a brain would come to those conclusions. This kind of analysis help is fantastic, superior to only about 90% of the gun videos available. Not that there aren't many good reviews/reviewers, but there is an awful (awful) lot of "flannel" put in with the meaningful data. Not here. Thank you! Good work. Good example.
Rick Clines, I have to agree. These little guns are tough to shoot for new shooters. I'm a fan of the S&W sheild, but there seem to issues with the body guard for novices as I've seen in other videos. I'm sticking with my recommendation of a carry size 9mm for novices and then buy the CCW.
This is one of the best reviews of these small caliber carry weapons. I bought this weapon as a Christmas present to myself and I did so after considering the S&W and consulting with my local Sheriff. I took it out today for the first time and it ran flawlessly. This was also my first Glock purchase and I will definitely purchase future models. The Sheriff I spoke with said Glock is supposed to come out with the Model 42 in 9mm this year. I will definitely own one of these as well! Completely satisfied with my purchase and really happy with this review! Nice job! Oh, and in the 'for what its worth' department, I own a Colt 1991A1 in 45 acp and there is NO comparison to that gun for how it runs! I was glad to see this Colt Mustang live up to what I would expect from Colt!
OK... Yes as we have all noticed, these were inexperienced shooters. There were some apparent issues with grip and technique. I personally feel that is what made this video so great. Most avid shooters will not experience the difficulties with any of these guns that these ladies did. Many viewers using this video to help pick a weapon are going to be just as inexperienced as the shooters were. This video would not have been nearly as effective if they took shooters who were familiar and comfortable with double action firearms. Giving these weapons to inexperienced shooters gives a true review to the target audience who will purchase the weapon and put it in their purse "just in case". I personally feel this video was a job well done from the point of showing how these guns may perform as a "first carry fire arm". Everyone who perfectly handles guns can ignore the video as you surely already have a carry weapon for personal defense.
This video is one of the most informative and by seeing things from a different angle most helpful I've seen so far. We are used to seeing very experienced shooters doing what they do best but this trial is in the real world and the opinions of these shooters are so valid. If you are thinking about buying a .380 and have little or no experience of firearms this is the video to watch.
I tried all these guns and felt the same way. The Ruger LCP and S&W Bodyguard are really hard to control. I am a new shooter, and they have too much recoil for an inexperienced shooter. They were kind of painful. I also had trouble with the S&W Bodyguard having failure to feed issues because I wasn't gripping it hard enough. The Colt Mustang and Glock 42 were a lot easier to use. They felt better in your hand and the triggers were really easy. I liked the trigger on the Glock 42 the best.
Very good video. This is one of my pet peeves; guys buying guns for their ladies using their own standard. As a NRA Pistol Instructor ,I tell them they have to try multiple guns and pick the one that feels the best . I've never been a Glock fan as I don't like how they feel and shoot in my hand, but you can see these ladies felt comfortable with it and wanted to use it again. THAT'S how you choose a gun. Not by color, pink ,blue ,black or what someone tells you is the one to buy. Once again a VERY good video.
I love this presentation and kudos for getting reviews for women, by women! Makes a HUGE difference as a woman to watch another woman shoot. I can see the snappiness of the S&W and the difficulties the women had with it. I've had a Ruger Security-9 for about 3 years now, which is a nice and affordable gun for home safety, but looking to get my CCW and wanting a smaller weapon for carry. Please do more of these reviews for women, by women! It's so good to see those who have experience helping to educate the public.
Thank you for this review. I wish I had seen it a day earlier. Bought a bodyguard at the gun show yesterday... took it home and shot it. NOT a fan. I had the exact same problem the other ladies are having. Now I'm over 300.00 into a used gun and trying to decide if I should get rid of it completely, or install a custom trigger with a shorter pull. This is a very informative video... again, just wish I had looked it up a day earlier :(
Hi, Ashley. I bought a BodyGuard .38sp/+P revolver, shrouded, lightweight, thought it would be great for CCW. I'm in the same boat. Really don't like it. I went to my LGS yesterday and handled the Glock42. Felt great in my hand, a perfect fit. Played with racking the slide, etc. Really easy to use. I read a review of the Glock42 www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/02/daniel-zimmerman/gun-review-glock-42/ and then went to some links from the article where the Glock is compared to some other guns and type of ammo, holsters that work well with it, etc are discussed. It was really informative. I'm starting to do that before I buy any gun, now. I'm watching awesome videos like this one, talking with folks on forums, and then handling guns I'm interested in at my LGS if they have them in stock. I'm understanding that it's good to do just like these gals did and try them out beforehand. I just found out that there is an indoor range in Albuquerque about 50 miles south of me that rents guns out just for that purpose. That is something that folks on the forums really recommend, too. If it doesn't feel good to you, you're not going to enjoy shooting it, and if you don't enjoy shooting it, you won't have the muscle memory from training regularly when you might need it in a CCW situation. Good luck to you in your search!
As a complete noob when it comes to guns this is probably one of the most practical videos I watched. Its one thing watching the pros shoot. Its a completely different ballgame watching people shoot these firearms for the very first time.
Interesting video and quite valid from their perspective on what they were asked to assess. Those are not the only factors to consider however. Having a Bodyguard with 900+ rounds without any failures of any kind, I can vouch for reliability if you don't limp wrist it. Criticism of the trigger is fair, it is heavy (but does smooth out with use). Once you get used to it and pull the trigger straight through like a revolver without trying to stage it, the gun is quite accurate. What was not mentioned and should be taken in to account how are the ladies going to carry their pistols? If you carry the gun hot with a round in the chamber ( I do and do not use / need the safety on my Bodyguard or Shield ), the LCP and Bodyguard are less likely to result in an AD than the SA Colt, really can't comment on the Glock. Watching them on the video, If they had to rack the slide first to chamber a round in a defense situation, they may not get to take advantage of the nicer trigger. As someone else mentioned, depending on how much time they want to spend getting experience, they may be better off with a 5 shot revolver if they want something compact to carry. Hopefully, they will have someone guide them through the rest of the factors they need to consider before they chose the concealed carry weapon. Good luck to them.
Great video. It's rare I comment on youtube videos, but this was very well done and I was impressed to see an in depth review like this. My wife and I are looking for her concealed weapon, and some of these are contenders; thank you for doing this review like this.
I won a Bodyguard 380 in a raffle. It had the laser on it. I was happy to win it. I hated shooting it. There is so little to hold onto and it is so snappy. My wife also hated it. Her Uncle bought it from me...and he hated it too. We ended up selling it for him. I like my Remington RM380 much better for control with the thumb base plate on the magazines. My wife prefers her Taurus Spectrum, but she is now looking at the Glock 42 and we are going to a range for her to shoot one. I have heard a lot of people praise how little recoil there is, especially compared to other small 380's. This is a wonderful video.
This has been the best comparison for me by far. I'm not a woman, but neither am I an experience gun shooter (and I'm in my 60s.) Seeing how these women handled the guns pointed out some of the flaws they had. I was debating between the Ruger and S&W (I hadn't run into the Colt yet) and had pretty much dismissed the Glock, but even before entering the "review" portion of the video I decided the Glock is the one I want. I could see how much easier the women had handling that gun over any of the others. Good job. I hope you have other "Ladies review" videos out there.
+Mary Carricaburu +100 the shooter needs to try it herself, before buying! Also, "smaller woman" does not mean "smaller gun is good". Tiny guns are harder to handle.
Excellent video! As an instructor who teaches a lot of women, I can't tell you how valuable this information is. One comment about the Colt: the added complexity of teaching a new shooter - and possibly someone who's not going to practice much - how to deal with a hammer and carrying in ready condition with the hammer back, safety on, are big disadvantages of that particular firearm in my book. Again, thank you for the insight of these shooters.
Good video as some others have posted here, I went with my wife to our LGS(local gun shop) and after trying several pistols. She chose the Bersa Ultra carry 9mm Pro. She is quite pleased with the way it feels in her hands, ambidextrous controls, ease of racking rounds as she suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome, thirteen round magazine, her accuracy and weight of the weapon. It has had no failures to feed or extract with over 500 rounds fired through it. Lastly I was pleased with the cost $450.00 after tax.
Did you get one, lola marya? My family just bought me one for my birthday this past week. It is AMAZING!!! I had a Ruger LCR .22 Magnum because I am a leftie and need a low to no recoil. The trigger on the Ruger was tough but there were not buttons and slides etc. The Glock is very easy is to use. The trigger is so smooth and easy. I can rack the slide with ease, and it is the same size but flatter than my Ruger for cc. My only issue was ammo. It is still finicky about ammo. No Fiocchi but Winchester works great (the white box), and Hornady Critical Defense worked great too (my cc ammo). I shot 50 rounds of Fiocchi and it jammed or failed to feed every few shots. I shot 200+ rounds of the Winchester with not one issue! Before I realized this, I had ordered 200+ rounds of Sellier & Bellot (great ammo for my Ruger for practicing). Hoping that the S&B works with my Glock 42!
I did get one. Only been to the range one time, but it works well and shoots a helluva lot better than the Bodyguard. I have a M&P Compact .22 and that shoots very well too.
I shot 200 rounds in the first 48 hours and love it! It is finicky, I think, with ammo. It did not like Fiocchi (which surprised me), but it did fine with Hornady, Winchester and Sellier & Bellot. I am anxious to try a Glock 43. If it is better with recoil compared to other 9mm's, I would get one.
Great video! I needed to see this. I carry a bodyguard 380 and it feels pretty controllable to me, but I'm a guy with good grip strength and some experience shooting. Before seeing this video I might have recommended a similar pocket pistol to a shooter that might not have the same experience as me with it. I wouldn't have thought of the glock as a better solution.
This video made me decide on a G42 for my wife. She tried the Bodyguard but hated it. She loves the G42 and got her LTC with it. With the Lehigh Xtreme Defender 380 ammo which is the most lethal ammo you can buy, she has a mouse gun that can take down a 350lb meth head. I no longer worry about her. Especially since she got a near perfect shooting score on her State test and is getting on-going tactical defense training. Not bad for a 75 year old girl.
I'm a gun store employee, and assistant instructor. I absolutely enjoyed all of this. Listening to these ladies share their thoughts, feelings and experiences was very helpful to me. I didn't appreciate how the instructor undermined their thoughts and really made excuses for the guns.
Excellent review. I own two of these (G422). One is my wifes. The other is summer carry for me.During colder months, I carry G30SF. I think Ruger is german for "long trigger pull".
Thank you for the review! My husband was suggesting the Bodyguard for me to carry. I did not want a long trigger pull at all, I'm so glad I saw this review, now the BG is not an option for me. I will be looking into the Glock 42. Of course I will have to try them out for myself.
As a lady shooter, I love this video. It really sheds light quickly on which is the more comfortable gun to own and handle at the range. I'd like to see more videos like this for the 365XL, Glock 26, Glock 19, Sig 2022. There's just not really anything out there on TH-cam that shows women handling guns. I'd love to see more about what their experience is with a variety of firearms, and it's very helpful for those considering buying.
The Glock 42 is like the everything card, don't leave home with out it.Always carry an extra magazine and load with a good defensive round , Hornady Critical Defense FTX Ammo
Best video comparing different guns, points of view from the first time ladies makes it more objective and specified to matters that no other pro shooters will tell you. For example, trigger pressure, reaction time and recoil. Thanks for sharing this...
This is EXACTLY the video I needed to see. I don't need to hear every Chairborn Rangers view of a .380 pistol, they are all going to dog on them " 'cause if it don't start with a 4 you don't need it". I needed to see how inexperienced women felt about these guns because I need to find something for my wife. I got her a S&W Shield, but the recoil was too much for her. THANK YOU !!!!
Practice, Practice, Practice... the shield in 9 is a bit snappy, but with the right amount of time behind the gun it becomes very controllable. try practicing with the 8 round mag, at lest 300 rounds before you count it out.
Sure, the Shield is a great little gun. Neither of us liked the grip. Snap was never a problem for me. .380 is just one of our carry choices, but for fun, my wife rarely shoots anything as small as 9mm.
Jay Dee My girl friend drives nails with my shield. any weapon system can be mastered. I think the shield provides a more stable platform for training, you need to be intimate with your carry weapon. and guns like the lcp and bodyguard are just so un-fun to shoot that a new shooter will often put down the gun, and say their comfortable with it, just to stop shooting for the day.
I've been looking into a gun for myself. I'd been comparing the LCP and Bodyguard. Your video REALLY helped me see the pros and cons and even see a few better options. Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this, seeing the women shoot and hearing the reviews helped a lot! I have found myself buying a gun that I realize I hate which is frustrating. This will help alleviate that!
The main thing they were missing in this video was the difficulty racking the slide. They needed to talk about that more as many females are terrified to carry a gun with a loaded chamber. So which gun had the easiest slide to rack?
@@simplyimpish1055 Idk if that's right. I'm a 5'0 female, 120lbs, with baby hands & I fire an M4 at the sharpshooter level. You'd have to ask these women how familiar & how long they've had with weapons, & the different types(handguns/rifles), to really gauge why they have differences. Esp the safety concern that someone mentioned. I'm in the military, & i sucked at the M-16. Still qualified, but it wasnt until the M4 that I got close to expert.
Thank you for making this video. My wife has been considering the M&P Bodyguard for a while, but based on this video we decided to go to a local range and try out a few guns first. Thank you.
CCW has never been higher in this country. Lots of women choosing to carry. Glock was super smart to tap into this market. I handled the Glock 42 at my LGS yesterday and was sold! They have it on hold for me until I get paid Friday. Really looking forward to giving it a ride at the range.
Leslie definitely was consistent on each of the handguns. All three ladies displayed similar habits and traits I experienced handling firearms. I love my Glock 42 and am confident when carrying. Training is not frustrating and weary after the range! Great video Thanks for posting!
My most comfortable fit is my Colt Mustang. My husband bought me a Glock 42 before he passed and while I think it's a great gun too, My Colt will always be my "go to" to keep on me at all times. Great demonstration. I had considered the Ruger LCP and after seeing this I am thankful I decided to stay with the Colt.
Out of all of these 380s the 42 is my favorite. I carry one every day. I wish the 42 was the same size as the 43. I injoy shooting the 380 and a slightly bigger pistol would fit my large hands just a little better, and prob make it even more enjoyable to shoot. The 42 is a good shooting little pistol
I think this video illustrates a common issue when people are picking out guns for their girlfriends, wives, daughters, etc. Sure, you want something small enough that they'll actually want to carry everyday, but you don't want something so tiny that it becomes an extreme challenge to shoot with any level of competency. This is especially important if you're going to be arming someone who you KNOW won't be putting in regular practice and range visits like they should. The G42 is probably the largest gun here in this test, it also happens to be the most controllable. Quite frankly, the smaller the handgun, the more skilled a person is going to need to be to shoot it proficiently.
+Shipmate it isn't the ruger lol. someone should have gave them some decent training before they shot. my wife shot 4 pistols her first time at the range. ruger lcp was one of them. she said it was the easiest to shoot out of all of them (glock 26, 43, springfield xd 9m) while holding 3-4 inch groups. this video is as weak as their grip
+Matt Smith The LCP? I think you must have it confused with another gun. I have a glock 26 and it is amazingly balanced and easy to shoot where as my lcp feels like its trying to jump out of my hands
I think this was a trick video. They made 44 magnums look like pocket .380's and gave them to these women. jesus looks like they are shooting rifle caliber handguns.
Three years ago?? WOW! I have been looking at a .380 for my wife, so I’m glad this video was posted. I’ve had several handguns through the years, but have never messed with anything smaller than 9mm. When my wife would go to a shooting range, regardless of what caliber we were shooting that day, my wife could not lock the bolt to the rear, or even charge the weapon in order to chamber a round. The Colt and the Glock shown on this video pretty much narrowed down two really good possibilities. One thing I don’t have a warm and fuzzy on is the Glock. With no external safety on a striker fired handgun, I’m not sure that is the right handgun for someone who does not fire a weapon, or train with that weapon on a continuous basis. Yes, I know there is safety on the trigger, but read the previous sentence...The Colt does have an external safety, and it’s hammer-fired. Which is also a plus for new shooters that allow them to realize when that hammer is back, that weapon is hot. However, watching the video, you can clearly see the recoil from the Colt. It’s not horrible, but the amount of recoil from the Colt to the Glock is seriously noticeable. Decisions, decisions...
Great video, I really agree with the other comments. In this video you see real ladies shooting Sub Compacks. I had a heck of a time with my wife and daughter. I have the Ruger LC380 and the G26. They enjoy shooting both pistol but prefer the LC380 over the G26. Reason they like the Ruger, I have the pinky extention on G26 magazine which pinches their fingers. I can't see buying the G42, so I will look at the G19... Thanks for the info. Thumbs Up!
This is a fantastic video! All of these women did a great job and were very helpful in helping me to buy a first handgun for my daughter. Very, very well planned video.
I hate to be "that guy" but a quick orientation and safety conversation before the gun handling began would have helped these ladies tremendously. I frequently saw them with their finger on the trigger while chambering a round: very, very bad form. That said, these ladies really remind me a lot of my own GF's gun handling... blame the gun, not your form or bad handling habits :)
Great idea having the ladies shoot the guns! The trigger on a Bodyguard does not bother me, so interesting to see their reactions to the different guns.
I absolutely loved this video. Would love to see you make a series like this, getting the opinions of men and women who's lives aren't completely saturated with gun culture and who come in with an unprejudiced mind.
MikeyFraz1 Me too. Liked having the women, especially untrained women that are not familiar with the guns. Gives a great perspective. I imagine most new shooters will step into a 9mm, when clearly a .380 auto is a handful for these women. Made me rethink what to buy for my wife.
"Nicole was ready to put this gun down." xD Yea, she was like "f$%^ this gun!". I love this video. You always see people experienced with shooting firing guns. This video is a great example of why you should shoot a gun before you buy it.
About the only thing the Glock has in common with the other three is the caliber. It's much larger than either the LCP or the Bodyguard. The fact that the Colt needs to be carried cocked and locked may be a big factor in carrying the Colt.
I liked this video a lot because I could tell that the women were not pros which shows how someone who hasn't practiced much would handle the gun. I'm probably slightly more comfortable with a pistol than the ladies in this video. I would LOVE to see a video of women shooting Sig 938 (ideally the black rubber grip), Glock 43, Beretta Nano, and S&W Shield (all 9mm). These are all guns that I have test fired, and I'm trying to decide on for my conceal and carry gun.
+Amanda Parker May I make a suggestion? You may have heard horror stories but Taurus is a lot better than they used to be. My girlfriend loves my Taurus PT111G2. Reliable, compact and low recoil. 12+1 rounds and double strike capability. I'm an ex-cop and I trust my G2 as much as the S&Ws and Berettas we carried on duty. Just shoot one and see what you think.
When I was a cop we carried S&Ws first and then Berettas. They were great guns. I trust my Taurus just as much. Taurus had a change of management a few short years ago and the guns they produce are much better quality. We have our own range and shoot a lot. I've run all kinds of ammo through the TCP and the G2 and never a problem.
What a well-done review and comparison of these pistols! I have small hands so I always appreciate real-world evaluations in each of the categories you presented. I'm a subscriber now.
2:34 i cringed so hard! shes charging the gun with her finger on the trigger. thats a great way to have a ND. LESLIE GET YOUR FINGER OFF THE DARN TRIGGER! Of the 3 times they showed you charging the gun you had for finger on the trigger every single time! That is not okay. You are going to hurt yourself or someone else.
I just found this video and wished I’d seen it years ago. A salesperson convinced my wife to buy an LCP. Regardless to say she hated shooting it and refuses to carry it. But I love it. Smooth double action trigger. Hides nicely in shorts or dress pants pocket but it is an “experts gun.” If you don’t have plenty of trigger time under your belt, do not buy an LCP. If you do, it’s a great piece!
I purchased the Bodyguard on impulse a couple of years ago because it was on sale. Both my wife and I hate the trigger pull. Watching this video brought back memories of our first time shooting it. I disagree with the comment that in an emergency the shooter might not have this issue. In a tense situation I feel an inexperienced shooter is more likely to have issues with this trigger. I would never recommend it for this reason. Thank you for this video.
Mariner80,, I agree with what you say but on the flip side the one with the worst trigger is probably the safest one for certain types of concealed carry mainly in the pocket to reduce the risk of accidental discharge
G42 is huge compared to the others though, so it's apples to oranges. Good luck stuffing that in a pocket. If I'm buying a gun that big, I'm going with something other than a .380.
You can carry the G42 in a deeper pocket like a wallet pocket or in the slip pocket of a jacket. Just not the front side pockets. Tbh, that is not a bad thing at all if you consider how bad of an idea it is to carry anything other than a knife in the front pockets anyway.
I got used to the Bodyguard trigger pretty quick but that didn't stop me putting in a short stroke aftermarket trigger kit. Still pulls very heavy, but it travels half the distance and resets way sooner.
This guy is really nice with the ladies, a real man. And the ladies are not dumb eye candy, they're mature women giving unique, honest, smart reviews. I love it!
We need more reviews like this.

Thise small guns are more like guns for experienced shooters. The idea that get a women a small gun really doesnt make much sense. Specially if they are novice or are not into firearms.
@@isaiasruelas7914 If it's not small and light, they won't carry it.
And if you don't carry your weapon, then you might as well not own one.
Awesome watch! My daughter test fired and bought her 1st handgun today. She chose a Glock 42.
This may be 3 years late but good job on the parenting, I'm hoping she's still carrying 😎
A great upgrade for her glock 42 is the pierce plus one grip extensions only 10 bucks each look them up
I wish that this video could play on loop in gun shops around the nation.
Iossua t-Sealgair Wow. Thanks a ton for the nice comment. Hope you had a chance to sub!
Iossua t-Sealgair My local range told me to come in and try out various guns. As a woman, I want something that will be accurate without crazy recoil.
Couldn’t have said it any better
All .380 makers need to pay attention to this vid. Great job ladies.
Exactly, the level of experience was helpful in illustrating the difficulty of each gun.
My experience with a .38 revolver was nothing like these guns! It was consistent and simple.
This was the best gun review I've ever watched on TH-cam
Thank you for this video! When Nicole could handle the recoil of the Glock 42..that was all I needed to see.
I tried handling a Glock today..thought Id like.it..but it was actually too big for me..So I got a Ruger LCP;)

Can't go wrong with a glock
I love this video. I'm a first time gun buyer and I know once I go practice before buying a gun I'm going to be shaky. My biggest fear is the recoil from a gun!
@Carmen Allen - I hope you've found a gun you like and are confident in using.
Thanks sooooo much for the video!!!!!
great video 3 years ago . You should make a series of ladies review
I'd much rather have anyone learn this way of shooting than be scared to even pick a gun up. Well done.
Bill Higgins Thanks, Bill. Very kind assessment.
Great Video. This is exactly the comparison test needed for the 380 market. Hope you make more comparisons.
bondarmsman We will. Probably 9mm and revolver next
This video is the reason my wife bought the Ruger .380 back in June!! Awesome informations and bravos to the ladies ...
Great review. Tired of pros shooting that make crap guns look good.
Rick Clines Totally agree! But if you watch our videos enough, you'll rarely see a "pro"! Just us normal dudes.
Very good real world type of test.
Robert DeMilo thank u!
I have the bodyguard and I couldn't believe how hard it was for these ladies to pull the trigger.
Great video. It's rare I comment on youtube videos, but this was very well done and I was impressed to see an in depth review like this. My wife and I are looking for her concealed weapon, and some of these are contenders; thank you for doing this review like this.
GREAT video. Loved the format. Real world, no holds barred comments.
Kerry L thanks!
;-)
Very helpful. I'm doing some research on a gun for my mother and it was great to hear what women thought of these guns.
Really good video!! Thank you, this is a big help while shopping for my wife.
FloridasCracker Thanks a bunch!
I hope your wife will be with you. Don't surprise her with a gun she hasn't tried out for herself.
Great review! I'm trying to help my girlfriend find a good pistol but guy reviews really don't help. Great job.
Just bought a G42 for the ladies of the house for their house gun. I really like it and thinking of getting another one for my truck / back up gun.
could you do this again with the same ladies but this time with a G42, Kahr P380 and CW380, Sig P238, Springfield Armory 911, and the Kimber Micro?
I’d also like to see the LCP II added to that list
Good video as some others have posted here, I went with my wife to our LGS(local gun shop) and after trying several pistols. She chose the Bersa Ultra carry 9mm
Pro.
Good video. I'm looking for a replacement for my S&W Bodyguard 380 and have decided on the Glock 42.
Yeah, it's really too snappy. The 43 is also great with low recoil. I shot one recently. Have fun!
lolamarya -X- did you get the g42? If so how is it? I just bought one a week ago, my first .380, and I really really love it.
Ok, I retract my statement, by the time they got to the XSP the excuses for the guns stopped and he quit beating around the bush.
Love this video... well done! Great information to share
Excellent video!
Great comments. My wife bypassed the Shield as well. Take your wife with you. Let her choose.
I'm sure you're just trying to be helpful, but this ain't my first rodeo. Thanks anyway.
I've been looking into a gun for myself. I'd been comparing the LCP and Bodyguard. Your video REALLY helped me see the pros and cons and even see a few better options. Thanks!
You need to try the Glock 42. It is VERY easy and nice to shoot.
I went through 200 rounds as soon as I got it!
do not buy lcp or bodyguard! G42 or Sig p238 is what you want!
Thank you so much for doing this, seeing the women shoot and hearing the reviews helped a lot! I have found myself buying a gun that I realize I hate which is frustrating. This will help alleviate that!
The absolute best gun review video I have ever seen. By a lot. Great job.
The main thing they were missing in this video was the difficulty racking the slide. They needed to talk about that more as many females are terrified to carry a gun with a loaded chamber. So which gun had the easiest slide to rack?
Mark Jordan Good point, and not only an issue for women but also for older folks.
True
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT, USEFUL, & INFORMATIVE REVIEW. One of the best TH-cam gun reviews I’ve seen ever. 👍
Leslie controlled those pistol's like a boss. Just sayin'.
she also charged each gun with her finger right on the trigger. shes an accident waiting to happen
Her hands are way bigger, and she’s taller, I think that played into it

@@simplyimpish1055 Idk if that's right. I'm a 5'0 female, 120lbs, with baby hands & I fire an M4 at the sharpshooter level. You'd have to ask these women how familiar & how long they've had with weapons, & the different types(handguns/rifles), to really gauge why they have differences. Esp the safety concern that someone mentioned. I'm in the military, & i sucked at the M-16. Still qualified, but it wasnt until the M4 that I got close to expert.
@@ihateintroductions5808 cool... However racking an M4 and racking a pocket pistol can be vastly different
Excellent review!! Hearing honest opinions without brand bias is refreshing. Chicks are smart. Very smart. Don't forget that guys!
Excellent video. So much better than a FAN BOY review.
Very good info. Great production.
Thanks,

rhino ranch Thanks for the kind comment, rhino!
Thank you for making this video. My wife has been considering the M&P Bodyguard for a while, but based on this video we decided to go to a local range and try out a few guns first. Thank you.
Good assessment as to why the new Glock 42 did prove what it set out to. To make a quality .380 that anyone would enjoy to shoot and want to carry.
CCW has never been higher in this country. Lots of women choosing to carry. Glock was super smart to tap into this market. I handled the Glock 42 at my LGS yesterday and was sold! They have it on hold for me until I get paid Friday. Really looking forward to giving it a ride at the range.
Great video. Props to Nicole for working through the problem. Those long DA triggers are a nightmare for beginners on those tiny pistols.
Super great & informative video, a very honest evaluation!
Alan McConnaughey thank you!!!
Leslie definitely was consistent on each of the handguns. All three ladies displayed similar habits and traits I experienced handling firearms. I love my Glock 42 and am confident when carrying. Training is not frustrating and weary after the range! Great video
Thanks for posting!
Good vid, prob shouldn't have had them rate them while standing next to each other. Subjects tend to affect each other.
Exactly my thoughts
I like the 43x a lot they need a 42x
These ladies did a great job!! Just picked up a Bodyguard because of...and I didn't want to wait for the GLOCK.
Thanks Dennis!
This was a very well thought out review with a very nice viewpoint! I really enjoyed it.
Gezus that recoil on the Ruger. I felt unsafe watching the first lady shoot even on the computer.
+t.j pennington yes the lcp. she holds a 4" group at 25 feet. we own a ruger lcp, g26, g27, Springfield XD 9mm, and a shield.
I think this was a trick video. They made 44 magnums look like pocket .380's and gave them to these women. jesus looks like they are shooting rifle caliber handguns.
Good Lord yes! Wow... looked like she could lose it!
^..^~~
Thanks for this video I also was looking for a weapon for my wife. I think the glock 42 will be the weapon of choice.
Own both the lcp and the bodyguard. Bodyguard has been my EDC.
I actually like the long trigger pull.
Newbie. Lol. Been there done that. Picked the worst gun there is.
Thumbs Up!
Sergeant T Thank you Serg!
sub compacks eh?
This is a fantastic video! All of these women did a great job and were very helpful in helping me to buy a first handgun for my daughter. Very, very well planned video.
I hate to be "that guy" but a quick orientation and safety conversation before the gun handling began would have helped these ladies tremendously. I frequently saw them with their finger on the trigger while chambering a round: very, very bad form. That said, these ladies really remind me a lot of my own GF's gun handling... blame the gun, not your form or bad handling habits :)
Excellent video! You saved me from making a mistake and buying the Smith and Wesson. Thank you
Where is the sig p238?
The Sig p238 is essentially a Colt Mustang copy.
Glock just works! The Ruger LCP is my backup to my Glock 19. Now about that mindset when they need to use it...a whole different test.
this is a very good video when helping a female to choose a firearm. a video with a lc9s, glock 43 and m&p shield would be great.
Great video. Good feedback from the ladies. A lot of help in choosing a firearm for my wife.
"Nicole was ready to put this gun down." xD Yea, she was like "f$%^ this gun!".
I love this video. You always see people experienced with shooting firing guns. This video is a great example of why you should shoot a gun before you buy it.
The Best video for small handguns and for Ladies....this Video helped my wife to choose which 380’s she wanted to try...she too bought the Glock 42
About the only thing the Glock has in common with the other three is the caliber. It's much larger than either the LCP or the Bodyguard. The fact that the Colt needs to be carried cocked and locked may be a big factor in carrying the Colt.
One of the best reviews I've seen, real honest results, thumbs up.
+dempsey gray I would not trust my life with a Taurus.
Curtis Clegg thank you very much. The subscribing is big to us. Appreciated!
I was worried for the guy standing beside her n for herself. I know nothing but know this does not look safe
I’m more upset at the instructor for not correcting her than at her since she is a beginner
+Mariner80 YES agree fully, a great trigger = great gun; and the reverse of course
Double action only is very nice. You have to know how to get used to them.
Lack of training = poor accuracy
Mariner80,, I agree with what you say but on the flip side the one with the worst trigger is probably the safest one for certain types of concealed carry mainly in the pocket to reduce the risk of accidental discharge
Terrible trigger. One of the worst I've ever pulled.
Really good honest review!! Would have liked to have seen the Ruger LC380 in the mix. Subscribed!
Well the Glock 43 is about the same size and it's 9mm so that might be the route to go for you.
OFFRD the 42 is tiny, whatmore do you want? honestly
For you and me that's cool. For them the 9mm might be too much in the 43
For the size you may as well get the 43. Just to long for what it should be. The diamond back db380 is what glock should have used as a size pattern.
I got used to the Bodyguard trigger pretty quick but that didn't stop me putting in a short stroke aftermarket trigger kit. Still pulls very heavy, but it travels half the distance and resets way sooner.
