Mr Fish, I love your down to earth unprepared reviews. That is a really nice motorbike with those narrow handle bars you can pass through traffic if commuting in a city. I loved my cbr650f. But the suspension just about killed me. I don’t like it when the key is behind the bar. If you have a tank bag sometimes you have to remove it just to turn the engine off.
The chronicles of mr fish they are not yet planned to come out, if ever. I was just dreaming about one... Anyway, congrats on coming out with the first review of the CB650R!
I think it'll be a few years yet, they just did a conservative refresh on the 500s. The cbx was the big winner with those new wheels, for the R and F there was no changes that would make me more likely to buy one. The R does look a little sharper, but nothing jaw dropping.
Great review, thank you. Arriving here in the states in April and I've talked to my dealer about putting a deposit down. I'm 47, last few bikes were cruisers, but this excites me. Thanks for the video.

I really don't get why so many people hate the rear plate holder on these motorcycles. I think it actually adds to the bike. If you eliminate it, to me looks like crap then it throws rain and dirt on your back. Why would you want to do that? To each their own I guess. Or maybe when you get older you get wiser! Get out of the 90's and into the the 2000's. I'm really digging the looks of these naked bikes. I just bought a 2018 gsx-s 750. I have not had a chance to ride it yet as it's still winter here. I really like the looks of these. I am digging the way manufactures are going with there naked bikes. And with fuel injection, traction controls and instrument displays you can change around, I think they are on to something big here.
Really enjoyed your review. First time on the channel. Great work. I really like the CB650R. I totally agree. That in-line 4 sounds very sweet. No need to bother with replacing the exhaust as it actually sounds delicious. Definitely with a quick shifter. Might have been set up for downshifts also. The design is spot on. Thanks for your thoughts on a very nice bike!
Good review Fish. I have to agree about the color, I think the should bring back the black/orange and silver/blue a la the early 80's CBxxxF models. Peace!
I learnt to ride around the streets and country roads around Coulsdon on a Honda Hornet. Once I got my licence, I was looking for a second-hand bike and I thought the guys at Dobles might help. I wouldn't change the exhaust either as it's loud enough and tucks in nicely. I've got a CB500F blue and have told you lose back pressure with some of those after market cans.

@@trekkydelirium-vroom5821 i know what you mean i had a 500 and a passenger has a huge effect on The performance. I think upwards of 90hp is needed really for 2 up. I know anybike will work 2 up but i think a passenger takes around 30 hp away or maybe 30% of the overall power. I have 85hp and i'm only just ok with how it performs 2 up with just a rider it flies really.
Thanks for your excellent video!! You would REALLY like our back country roads, here in Canada!!! Looking at the extremely narrow roads you have to ride on! Wow!
I'd love to see it in some of the wild colours that were offered for the 300s and 500s. I pass a guy on the way to one job, his 500 is this same sort of matte grey but with super loud fluro accents, it looks great.
Good general purpose bike. I'm sure an mt07 or sv650 has more "character", but a middish I4's unbeatable for me. That grey's been Honda's workaday 4cyl bike colour for at least 20 years for their nonsports 600s and 1000s. And looks good. Tempted.
@@jeromefreakylp Not yet, can go out cause of the quarantine, I've tested both and IMO the cb650r is better in every way compared to the mt07 except the price of course, I recommend you to try both at dealerships, but I like the Honda more
But then you've spent more for 100cc and your stuck with a KTM. All well and good if you've got the other money for the parts you'll have to replace and the tows you'll need when you find out haha. Water pump, fuel pump, head issues, electronic issues etc are all common KTM issues, where a Hondas most common issue is wearing out tires from all riding and no wrenching lol
Omg I absolutely love the looks of this cb650. I'm turning 18 this year and I definitely will go for the A2 motorcycle license. I really want to know the exact price of this gorgeous thing!
Agreed with you. Its a nice bike. Like the 4 inline and the sound of the exhaust. Like your review too. Initially have my eyes on MT07 or MT09. I think i changed my mind after your review. Am riding a MT25 currently.. a small cc bike.
the back end is an easy mod no need to buy a tail tidy you can make it out of this ,like the 300r u did i bought one and did a few mods simple. but you bloody done it again WHAT ABOUT A BOLT ON RACK where and what is there for this. wish they would do like the z650 kwaker so you can fit one . but as always i have a design built for 300 r so this can be done the same i feel . hey i might trade in the z650 . now what full tank miles do you know. regards john any yes red is better...
Excellent review, its funny how some people dismiss 650s,but this is all the bike you need on UK roads, and metzeler roadtec 01s are great tyres, and their standard on this bike., nice one Honda.
I have no idea, why Honda is able to add a small and short exhaust to the 125 and the 650, but have to put that orbital gun on the 300, what reason stands behind that? Is there a way to turn off that beam light button, that one you can do signals with? I sometimes hit that without intention.
Great video and first impressions review MrFish! I loved my CB650F and good to see this one is improved and looks an absolute stunner! I think the engine on the 650R has been tweaked slightly and now has an extra 3-4 bhp?! 94HP total I believe.
Fantastic review, Señor Fish. New to your channel and I likes it. The bike seems to me to be, finally, competition for the MT-07, SV-650 and Z650. The new Hornet, so to speak.
Great review thank you. Surprised by the price as Honda's are normally a bit pricey. That's quite a lot of bike for £7,000 👍 Just wished the dash was the same as the one on it's bigger brother. It's similar but not the same. Other than that, I like it.
@@Mrfish2015 Here in Japan it's ridiculously expensive. Cb1000r - 1700000 yen. Gsxs1000 - 1131000. Z1000 - 11500000. As much as I like the bike it's very difficult to even consider it at this price point. They haven't released cb650r here yet but I have the feeling it's going to be the same price (if not more) as 1000cc nakeds from Kawasaki or Suzuki.

Im afraid i cannot buy one; probably over my budget. A new Kawasaki Versys-X 650 Adventure could also be interesting. Lets Dream.
Wow!
Great review, ordered mine from dobles. Not long now!
Nice one , don't forget Ians hug
I'd love to see it in some of the wild colours that were offered for the 300s and 500s. I pass a guy on the way to one job, his 500 is this same sort of matte grey but with super loud fluro accents, it looks great.
Get it wrapped
Despite what you siad, it's worth getting escited about the footpegs. At least they got away from those ugly big fat rubber ones.
True
Yea but they were pretty comfortable.
Good general purpose bike. I'm sure an mt07 or sv650 has more "character", but a middish I4's unbeatable for me. That grey's been Honda's workaday 4cyl bike colour for at least 20 years for their nonsports 600s and 1000s. And looks good. Tempted.
Its classier than those other 2 plus being an inline 4 makes it in a different category .. The other 2 are great bikes also
I have the CB125R and omg I wish I had the 650 now damn it's good might have to trade it in and get this one
Hello from Texas in USA! Great video. Simple and good information. Cheers.
It worked! stuck my thumb over the tail bracket, looks great.
Ian Lawrie thumbs are very useful
I just bought one of these in black, and what an amazing bike, beautiful, classic, smoth, powerfull...it worth every single € :D
You're going to have fun
@@Mrfish2015 sure of that..becoming fan of your reviews..greetings from Portugal.
This will be my first bike in 3 years.
Fadic4 good luck! This will be my bike in just 1 year.
EarthyPython me too!
Gl both this is my 1st bike right now, waiting ti pick it up at dealership
@@xXByCrazZy You got it already? Thinking of ordering this wonderful thing right now. You had any thoughts of the mt 07 instead?
@@jeromefreakylp Not yet, can go out cause of the quarantine, I've tested both and IMO the cb650r is better in every way compared to the mt07 except the price of course, I recommend you to try both at dealerships, but I like the Honda more
hahah I love that he likes every comment, first time here btw, nice bike. I hope I lived in a place where I wont get shot to steal a bike
The comments section is important in my opinion , whist im still a small channel i try to get involved
dam, this bike is perfect for me. first bike iv seen where there are literally no mods I'd do to it. time to put a deposit down!
almost agree ..... i would put honda small smoke screen
Great review. Alot less scary than the 1000, but with similar looks.
Your reviews are getting my interested in bikes and I think I’m getting my bike License this year!
Thanks
Great review on the Honda its on my list for my first bike next year .after just passing my test ....
Thanks for your review. So many bikes to choose from in this class. With that said, for $1,400 more I think my money is going toward the 790 duke.
@@pauld.b7129 ye na....
Nice review. Love the look of the new CB"s. I may have to replace my 79' CB750F with one.
Spot on video, mate. Thank you. I had this bike in mind but you have put that in concrete for me.
the back end is an easy mod no need to buy a tail tidy you can make it out of this ,like the 300r u did i bought one and did a few mods simple. but you bloody done it again WHAT ABOUT A BOLT ON RACK where and what is there for this. wish they would do like the z650 kwaker so you can fit one . but as always i have a design built for 300 r so this can be done the same i feel . hey i might trade in the z650 . now what full tank miles do you know. regards john any yes red is better...
Great review Mr Fish - bravo! Would you go for this bike or a XSR700 if given the choice?
Thanka for the review! I love how you did a proper review! Cheers from Australia 😎 also subbed.
Thanks , and thanks for the sub
Love the black one with the bronze wheels, I want to try one. Honda are on a roll at the moment.
I sometimes hit that without intention.
probably easier to get through emissions
More like "probably easier to make you buy a new exhaust" rather than emissions ahah
Oliviero Rossi if Honda made exhausts that would make sense
@@Mrfish2015 point taken ;)
Cool stuff, i ride a 2018 CB650, cracking bike. Very similar in spect to this one. You really cant go wrong with these bikes.
Great video and first impressions review MrFish! I loved my CB650F and good to see this one is improved and looks an absolute stunner!
I think the engine on the 650R has been tweaked slightly and now has an extra 3-4 bhp?! 94HP total I believe.
Unlike the CB1000R, I think the new CB650R's exhaust doesn't look too bad. Not bad enough to replace with something aftermarket.
Come on man, I'm so jealous of you. New bikes always been put on market in UK very fast.
Don't be jealous be patient
@@Mrfish2015 HAHA, right. Is there 2019 version CB500X in Doble? I have a 2017version, can't wait to see you test ride it.
宫Scott should be available soon
Fantastic review, Señor Fish. New to your channel and I likes it. The bike seems to me to be, finally, competition for the MT-07, SV-650 and Z650. The new Hornet, so to speak.
Only inline 4 so a bit different
a lot more powerful
great review as always mate, whats the chances of you doing one for the new cb500x for this year?
Very high
Daamn I'm in love with this bike
Great review thank you.
Surprised by the price as Honda's are normally a bit pricey.
That's quite a lot of bike for £7,000 👍
Just wished the dash was the same as the one on it's bigger brother. It's similar but not the same.
Other than that, I like it.
Hondas are not too bad price wise these days compared to the competition
The cb500x is £6069 so it's about right you pay a bit more to have the x version. And the cb650r is a good spec and has some good suspension.
Prefer one of these over a Honda NC750X commuting/weekend rides.
The NC is still a better commuter and adventure/travel bike ;) but the CB looks awesome
