Can't wait to get mine. Rode several 29er (Rocky Mountain Instinct, Hightower LT, Scott Genius) ... none of them put such a big smile on my face. Totally agree with Daily MTB Rider - this bike does not like to go slow and you need big brakes if you want to stop it ^^
I just bought one in Oct. After two months on it i am doing alot of old trails and features i have not done in a long time. The 64 headtube angle is noticeable right out tbe gate. Reminds me of my old freeride and dh bikes I had. If the made this a 150 travel bike, I feel they would have the perfect do it all bike.
To make my decisions even harder, lol. Was planning on waiting for the scout carbon but the sentinel is tempting! Sentinel as nimble as the scout carbon is going to be?
Good review guys! Do you think the Sentinel can climb like a Rock Mountain Slayer? I have a 770 2017 model. I buy it use. I'm not sure if i sold it and buy that 29er beast...
I bought one, put chunkier tires on it, some carbon Santa Cruz rims, a chainring guard and slightly riser-bars and tokens in the shock and fork.. It happily goes anywhere you point it, even when those trails are beyond my pay grade.. Not the plushest bike out there, but a really fun, confidence inspiring ride.. I keep pushing it harder and harder and cannot upset it..
Trek slash 29 or carbon sentinel? Rode the Ali sentinel on an uplift and it’s awesome, but not sure how well it pedals up hill. You guys have gave the trek a great review. So which is better?
Had the Rocky Moutain Instinct in my cross hairs but think having more than JUST 140 front/rear will be appreciated. What are your thoughts between this Sentinel compared to the Santa Cruz Hightower LT, Evil Wreckoning or the Specialized Enduro Elite 29er? Wanting as much help as possible with filtering through those as I anxiously await demo season in my area. Thanks
Rusty Fuller I know but my pockets don't go that deep. Don't to spend the 4gs let alone 5.....so I'm DEFINITELY NOT looking at almost 6Gs! You're a lucky man to BE ABLE to play in that ballpark Bruh!
Matt Payne it was much more lively with less weight (1.3 pounds lighter). This made the bike easier to get airborne. Overall it made an already bike more fun to ride.
My 2018 aluminum Sentinel climbs great--I'm faster on it than I was on my hardtail Commencal on every climb. It is heavy but the suspension is awesome climbing and the steep seat tube angle makes all the difference.
I have a 2016 ya Capra cf comp 1 with 165 rear travel, do you think the sentinels 140mm would get bounced around a lot more, or is it a very progressive 140mm?
jamie101010 They started with the geometry to build up to how they thought it felt. Really couldn't have explained it for a review any better from their experience with it.
No looking back from this 2018 SBG setup ... Here we are in 2023 looking at same parameters. Truly stellar!
Two words - Inspiring Confidence! Great bike for charging hard!
I’m a huge Transition fan. Been riding the Carbon Patrol for a year and love it. Stoked to throw a leg over the Sentinel sometime this year.

@Horgh its not like a scout. I am telling you if you pump up the rear shock, you dint not I e the 140 travel, and i am a fatso!
Finally, BoB is back! Awesome review with the perfect amount of import informations about the bike. Can't wait to see more!

Weird. Isn't the sentinel linear in leverage ratio and low? So it's very easy to bottom out.
Maybe next year grab some canyon bikes and Nukeproof megas
No way... Bible of Bike Tests with lav microphones?! No way!!
2018 Transition Scout review??
YES
Uh when?
no this is the Sentinel.
Looks like they reviewed a size large. Anyone know how tall these guys are?
Look at Trials Vs Enduro bikes, seems like some great lessons have been learnt.
for those hung up on the weight difference between the 2 models, don't forget that we're talking about a 6% difference.
Welcome to the Sentinel, hope your stay here's perpetual, we sell drinks and broken dreams but no edibles.
I was not expecting a Hilltop Hoods pun when I watched this video
Did you guys like the Sentinel or the Process 153 cr 27.5 best?
Thanks, been waiting on your review of this!
WOW, now they are not even standing in front of the bike... just them at a table... sad...
Good review guys!

Aluminium versus carbon? Worth the extra money?
which bike would you say is the most play full
This video made me want a san pellegrino
Review a Pole!

Bishop Kalliko the instinct bc edition has 160f/155r

Mr.Jordy done looking. Thanks
Transition sentinel or devinci sparton?
I'm riding a sentinel and it's awesome
Is Carbon on this bike worth the added $1K, when the Alu version already works quite well?
That was not mentioned. It would be good from someone who has ridden both.
I rode the 2016 Aluminum Patrol for a season and then the 2017 Carbon Patrol for a season. The carbon was well worth the price between those bikes.
Did you find it snappy, a little more lively with the lighter weight?
Matt Payne it was much more lively with less weight (1.3 pounds lighter). This made the bike easier to get airborne. Overall it made an already bike more fun to ride.
Thanks Considering Carbon Sentinel or Guerrilla Gravity smash w/possibly extra chain stay/shock to convert between smash and megatrail.
How does it climb ?

How about a hard tail Bible of bike test next year?
Need it ... just sent it to me used😎
I’m sold sign me up!
So this was a paid review?
Way too much technical Bull shit in bikes now a days. Anything to sell more bikes.
Ronald Tartaglia some people like to know some tech when dropping 5k+ on a bike.
Too much bad geo explination and not enough to about the bike...
